Too Faced Creative Director Jerrod Blandino says that when he dreamed up the new Love Light Highlighters, he wanted something that would capture that glow women get when they’re madly in love.
I wonder, though… Is he just talking exclusively about romantic love, or do other kinds of love count? Because I can’t lie. I glow when I think about my cat (It’s true, though. I LOVE HIM.), or when I get a hankering for chocolate doughnuts, just as another example.
Personally, I’m going to allow myself to pretend that it refers to all kinds of love, including the kinds of love reserved for cats and doughnuts.
Anywho! 🙂 These highlighters are new for spring and coming March 9th. There are three 0.32-oz. $30 shades.
Rose gold Ray of Light is recommended for all skin tones. Metallic white gold Blinded by the Light is recommended for light-to-medium babes. And You Light Up My Life is an intensely glittery yellow gold made for medium and deeper skin tones.
(Props if you got the song references, BTW, and extra props if you sang them out loud.)
Suspended, spherical pearls
Too Faced claims that the Love Lights have a formula that combines a liquid, a cream and a powder, and instead of having reflective crushed pearl-escent particles like most other highlighters, their particles are little spheres, which reflect light from more angles…
Hey, it sounds good to me. 🙂
Texture
Unlike most powder highlighters that feel like hard-packed powders in their pans, these are surprisingly soft, and you pick up a lot of product when you go at them with a brush or finger.
I’m seeing sunshiny days with Ray of Light
All three of them have different levels of shimmer, but my favorite one is Ray of Light, and not just because it’s a Madonna ref. I also like the way it shimmers. It has the smallest, finest pearl particles of the bunch, and I think it looks expensive on my skin.
It also plays nicely with my fine lines, although I can’t just blend it all willy-nilly, lest I end up with wayward glitter on my cheekbones. I still have to blend, blend and blend. But I can safely wear it on my upper cheekbones without it emphasizing each and every pore, which is great.
Hello, bling! It’s Blinded By the Light and You Light Up My Life
I feel like the other two are probably best for teens and twenty-somethings. Blinded by the Light is a VERY shiny, frosty metallic, and You Light Up My Life has big-honkin’ flecks of yellow gold glitter, a.k.a. “rave glitter.”
I dunno about that one… I feel like I’m trying too hard when I wear it. It’s a little too much for me, but to each their own, right? If you like high shine, FREAKING GO FOR IT. Don’t let anyone tell you when you can/can’t shimmer. Ever! If it moves you, it moves you.
Where to find it
Look out for the Love Lights when they hit Too Faced counters in one day.

P.S. Happy International Women’s Day, my friend! Here’s to us, to all our accomplishments, and to the amazing things we do for our family and friends.

For some reason, when I saw the first pictures of these, I had a feeling they’d be glittery!

Somewhere there is a recording of a tiny me belting out ‘You Light Up My Life’ like I was performing at Carnegie Hall, accompanied by my personal pianist, aka my aunt.
And speaking of getting the song references, I took my niece shopping at Forever 21 this past weekend. Ummm, time warp!! The late 80’s, early 90’s are back. I was walking around saying “I had that! I wore that!” They had a reproduction classic Aerosmith tee that I had in 9th grade.
Happy International Women’s Day to you and Connor Claire! And Tabs, because I feel like he is a staunch supporter of women. 😉
Karen says
Tabs definitely is! He loves the ladies, as you know. 🙂
Funny that you should mention the ’90s coming back, because when I go to the mall I often do a double take when I see teens and tweens walking around in the stuff I wore to the club circa 1993. LOL!
So how did you end up singing at Carnegie Hall?!
Tanya Dufour says
Ray of Light is def my fav too!
Valentina Chirico says
They are spectacular, Karen I’m not scared by highlighters and I love wearing some gold (ATM I using a lot Pupa Like a Doll Gold Infusion… thing about fuse gold… you’re right!).
Ray of Light is very delicate and I also think all three would be perfect as eyeshadow!

Thank you so much for this review! My favourite is definitely Blinded by the Light because I’m so pale! I really think that Ray of Light looks stunning on you <3

The design is so beautiful! I have entirely too many highlighters but these are really tempting.
Becky says
Ray of Light looks beautiful (and yes, I sang it out loud!) and the formula sounds lovely. Not sure I can justify yet another highlight however!!
Eleni says
Happy Woman’s Day! 🙂
Wow, these look VERY pretty. They nailed it with the packaging… I think you’re right to love Ray of Light. it looks gorgeous!
SAKURA says
Aww, you glow when you think of Tabs! I understand. I love my little dog and miss him when I’m at work.
This makeup looks good on you! I definitely want to check out Ray of light. I heard that these highlighters are already at Sephora.
I caught up on some older posts. Happy Belated Birthday to Conner Claire and wow that is not how I pictured El Hubs at all! Some how I was imagining him with dark hair. Very handsome though.
SARAH says
Aren’t these just the most beautiful highlighters you’ve ever seen
LindaLibraLoca says
I am not into highlighters in general, and these look way too intense for me. But I love the song references, had me singing along.

I have Ray of Light and I love it! But yay.. I remember the very first I swatched it with my finger.. I saw those chunks of glitters! But if you use it with fan brush the rose gold shade on my cheeks looks stunning. So subtle with rosy sheen. This is such a wonderful highlighter.
