Benefit Her Name Was Glowla packaging
We had a few minutes to kill before the movie tonight, so I popped over to Macy’s to see if they had anything new and interesting in the cosmetics department.
The Benefit counter was abuzz with some new limited-edition sets, Clarins had a new liquid foundation (at least it’s new to me), and I sniffed a new citrusy scent.
Benefit Her Name Was Glowla, $36
LOVE the packaging of this limited edition set. Isn’t it spicy? I actually have a pair of sunglasses that look almost like the pair the woman on the box is wearing.
The kit comes with a bunch of Benefit standbys like Coralista blush, High Beam highlighter, Moon Beam highlighter, a powder eyeshadow palette with six neutral shades, Badgal Lash mascara and a lipgloss in Life on the A List.
A Benefit makeup artist at the counter said that these were selling out fast… It does look like a pretty great deal for the price.
Benefit All You Need is Gloss, $26
Remember the dual-tipped lipglosses from last year’s Glitz Glam & Gloss set? They’re baaaack! 🙂
The All You Need is Gloss set comes with three of them (six gloss tips in all). The colors are I’m With the Band, Almost Famous, Who Are You Wearing, 24K, Back to the Fuchsia and Life on the A List — some are from Benefit’s Lip Gloss line (they have a light fruity flavor, a strong fruit punch scent and a thick but sheer texture) as well as their Ultra Shine line (unflavored, but with a light raspberry Creamsicle scent; a thin yet moisturizing, slightly sticky texture; and a lot of pigmentation.
Clarins Extra-Firming Foundation SPF 15, $42
I’m a fan of the Clarins brand, so this got my attention tonight: looks like there’s a new liquid foundation in town. The display claims it firms, smooths and evens out the skin (like any good foundation should, right?). Judging by the swatch on the back of my hand, the stuff packs plenty of pigment and blends easily.
It comes in a pump top, too, which makes it pretty easy to control. Available in ten shades called Ivory, Cream, Nude, Beige, Sand, Wheat, Honey, Toffee, Amber and Chestnut.
Clarins Eau de Jardins, $48
More fun at the Clarins counter tonight… They quite melodramatically (which I can appreciate!) call this scent an “uplifiting fragrance treatment.” I was in a pretty good mood at the time, so I can’t confirm or deny the “uplifting” claim, but it is a very citrusy scent, and I do love citrus.
I did a spritz on my wrists and picked up notes of grapefruit and orange (YUM!), but I think I might be allergic to something in the fragrance because now my nose is hard like a rock (I’m dodally sdubbed ub)!
Aren’t the Benefit sets intriguing? Especially for the price?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ooh, I want that gloss set! The Ultra Shine glosses have a wonderful texture and they last better than they should, given the thin texture.

The Benefit lipgloss set looks divine and raspberry cremesicle sounds yummy! I love Benefit glosses and will probably check this set out. The Glowa set looks like a pretty good deal too.

I don’t really need another set but it’s tempting just for the lipglosses! I’ve had my heart set on Who Are You Wearing for awhile now. I think they discontinued their regular lipgloss line and only carry the Ultra Shines now. At least that’s what my local BeneFit boutique told me.
I’ve never used anything from Clarins before. It’s always seemed like a line old ladies buy, haha.

Oooh. I love the packaging for the Glowla set! So cute. And the lip gloss colors are devine; nice and fall-ish but still bright. I would totally spring for both.
