New From BECCA: The Ombre Nudes Eye Palette and Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold

September 23rd, 2014 by Karen 33 Comments

BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette
What’s new from BECCA cosmetics?

And a good time was had by all.

Well, all except for El Hub, who hovered outside the Sephora store for half an hour today while I picked up some things I needed/wanted (something from Kate Somerville and a NARS concealer).

“I’ll be quick, I swear!” I told him, and he rolled his eyes. He had his phone, though, so at least he had something with which to occupy himself.

Every once in a while I glanced out the window to check on him. Twice he pointed at an imaginary watch on his wrist to remind me that more than 10 minutes had passed, haha!

Poor guy… 🙂

Seriously, someone needs to invent a comfortable folding chair for significant others that’ll fit in a purse. Then when I need to go to Sephora, I could just whip it out for El Hub. That, plus his phone to play with, and he’d be set for a while.

Oh, well. Until then, the “I’ll be quick, I swear!” routine will have to do.

I really would have been 10 minutes today, but I got distracted by some new things from BECCA, namely a beige and brown matte eyeshadow palette and a rose gold highlighter.

“What’s up, matte?” The BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette ($40) comes with all your basic matte beiges, tans and browns and a formula that feels soft and silky.

The downy powders remind me a little of Urban Decay’s matte eyeshadows, and I like the color temps. None of them are too warm or cool, so I have a feeling they’ll work well for a lot of different skin tones.

Remember last year’s limited edition Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold? Well, now there’s a liquid version of it, BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Roes Gold ($41).

The color looks about the same as last year’s pressed one (yay!), which is great because, I mean, why mess with a good thing, right?

There’s also a new pressed highlighter in Champagne Gold, which is available online, if you’re interested, but that one hasn’t hit my local Sephora yet.

Swatches from the left: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold, with Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold (unblended) and Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold (blended) for comparison

Both of these BECCA beauties are available now at Sephora stores (or should be), as well as sephora.com.

Have you been to a Sephora lately? How far away is the closest one to your house (mine is a 5-minute drive, which translates to, “Danger, Will Robinson!” or “YES!”).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hey Karen ! My Sephora is about 10 minutes away and I’m kinda embarrassed about how often I go in there. The whole staff knows me and my baby girl. I can’t help myself, I love it there. My baby, she’s a month shy of 2, loves it too. And I have to say the staff there is very nice. I’ve read some bad things about the service at some Sephoras.

      Hi Amanda,

How fun! Does your store have makeup classes? I saw a sign in front of mine today with new classes that are coming up soon. I keep meaning to sign up but keep forgetting (whoops).

And aww, that’s so cute that your little one enjoys visiting the store too. Is she your only child?

Wouldn’t it be neat if they did one with warm browns and another with cool browns? I’d be all over both!

Ombre Nudes is an easy go-to palette for me. It can accomplish any look and layered over a shimmering primer or colorful cream eyeshadow makes endless possibilities. It’s nice to see the powder formula quality is just as good as the highlighters. I like it when a brand accomplishes that well. I’m uncertain on the Rose Gold though. For highlight I tend to like less color. Although I am into metallic blush right now so if I think of it that way, all is well 🙂

      Hi Alison,

Oh, metallic blushes are fun. It’s like getting two in one!

Please tell me you’ve tried BECCA Opal (the pressed version). It is seriously THE BEST!

      Hi Ashleigh,

Seriously, I don’t blame ya! I love that this one is all mattes. So useful! I bet that in a pinch they’d work great as contouring powders, too.

      Have you worn BECCA before?

        Hi Karen,
I have never tried anything from the Becca line before! But I’m going to swatch this at Sephora and probably get it… I’ve already added it to my online cart >__<
They do look like they would be good for contouring too!

I love all things rose gold. Must have either the pressed or the new liquid from Becca. If I can only buy one, which do you suggest?

      Hi Allison,

I think it depends on what you want to use it for. Both are lovely as face highlighters, but if you want the option to mix something into your foundation or body lotion, then go for the liquid version. I also think the liquid version is more forgiving on mature skin. The powder version is better for hitting the inner corner of the eye, the brow bone and the cupid’s bow. Let me know if you have any more questions!

My Sephora is far, 45 minutes away. There is one closer, 15 mins away but it’s inside a JC Penney store so it’s not as good. I noticed Ulta has a mini trio of three shades of Shimmering Skin Perfectors online. Once I find it in store I’m definitely getting it because I don’t own any.

I am NC50 dark with golden undertones. The ombre palette is a great palette and I like it for a quick, no fuss look. The rose gold highlighter is pretty. I’ll swatch it the next time I’m in yep, you guessed it, Sephora. I work near Ground Zero in lower Manhattan and the nearest Sephora is a 10 minute walk from my office. It’s actually my least favorite Sephora locale in NYC, but it’s my ‘swatching/perfume sampler’ location (lol).

So glad you swatched the nudes palette. I remember asking you about it a month back & true to your word, you featured it. Just another reason why I love this blog. I swatched it myself when it arrived in the Sephora nearest me (about 5 minutes inside a JCP) but I was so bummed by it. It seemed way too cool & the grey undertones were under-whelming.

I live about 15 minutes from the full store but I’m in the JCP locale all the time. A few of the staff there know me. What can I say? That place is my play land!

I’m really into the Ombre Nudes palette from the photos, I want to go check it out in person.

They have a holiday set on Ulta.com of mini versions of the shimmering skin perfectors! I’ve never bought one of the big ones because they are a little pricey and have so much product, but the little minis look amazing.

    LOL @ ‘DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!

That was one of my favourite shows as a kid. *presses hand to forehead* Oh the pain, the pain of it all!’ (which is me when I go makeup shopping and look at the prices here in NZ, LOl!)

My husband will come polish shopping with me (he does all my pedicures), but not so much with the makeup. He tends to go visit other stores while I browse 😀

Ooooh! My usual Sephora is a good 30 minutes away (due to street traffic. Blarg!) There are closer ones, but I’m not keen on going to The Strip. The usual didn’t carry Becca foundations, so I didn’t browse it there.

I think I saw this at Ulta, though. I swatched a few of her stuff, and it was nice, but I wasn’t completely sold. I might visit Ulta again (oh, darn! Hhahaha) to give it another glance. 🙂

My nearest Sephora is two countries away. I live in the Netherlands and they closed the Sephora stores a couple of years ago :'( So the nearest one now is either a hours per airplaine (London) or three hours per high speed train (Paris).
Thanks god for going on a midweek vacation to Prague in two weeks! Some serious shopping has to be done 😉

I wish Sephora opened up again in Tokyo. Though Sephora.com has started shipping to Japan this year, the shipping + duties is really high 🙁 I really like the look of the matte eye shadow palette.

The nearest full size Sephora is like 2 1/2 hrs from my house. I have a dinky JCP Sephora in a mall about an hour away. Needless to say, if I’m ever near a full size, the family has to occupy themselves a la El Hub for quite some time. haha

That palette looks pretty beautiful even though it’s basic. I love the rich browns. Of course, I do. 🙂

My nearest Sephora is about a 45 minute drive but it’s in Canada so everything is much more expensive. My closest US option is about a 3 hour drive. Most of my in-store Sephora shopping has been while I’m traveling for work or vacation. I’d say over 90% has been online.

We don’t HAVE a Sephora at all in the UK! You can’t imagine how much it breaks my heart! Every time hubby and I go to mainland Europe, I always check beforehand to see whether the town we’re visiting has a Sephora.

My local Sephora is about 30 minutes away from me. Your el hub story is all too familiar, thank goodness for phones! Because it’s such a far drive, my “I’ll be quick” ends up being at least an hour because of my long list of things I’ve been waiting to check out. I actually purchased the Becca Ombre Nude Eye Palette a couple of weeks ago as a recommendation from the lovely Sephora staff for a contour kit! Most of the contour palettes just don’t work for my medium skin tone. They said this would be perfect because it’s matte, blendable, and I can mix up the shades to get a more customized look. I love being able to use it for contouring and my eyes. This and my Laura Mercier Artist Palette Holiday 2013 are my absolute favorite eye shadow palettes.

These Becca goodies look AWESOME!! Thanks for taking the time to do all the pics and reviews for us – it really helps us makeup shopping ADDICTS so much!! I’m a hoarder of neutral palettes and ice bent eyeing this one for awhile…the quality looks amaze balls! I often need that second opinion push to get me to the store which speaking of…Sephora is less than 10 mins south and 15 mins north, along with Ulta and Target 10 mins north. There is a Walgreens and CVS 8 mins south too. I’m truly blessed by the makeup choices!!

My hubby never believes me when I say I’ll be just a few minutes in any place that has makeup. He just naps in the car till I eventually come out of the shop.

I was in Sephora last week. Mine is a 30-40 minute drive, unforntunately for me (fortunately for my wallet). I used to live 10 minutes away. *sigh*

That rose gold skin perfector is absolutely gorgeous. Too dark for me, but really, really pretty.

Thanks for the swatches. I love Becca, I’m still collecting their satin eyeshadows from ages ago because I just can’t let go! I’ll have to add this one to the list. Still love my rose gold pressed but can’t tell if the champagne one is going to be too yellow for me.
