You could do curls with this set or have a JLo Enough moment! Man, it’s heavy. I think the top might actually be made of glass.
Give me these mini lipsticks like the eight in the NARS Sarah Moon Glass Metropolois Mini Audacious Lipstick Coffret Set any day over a lipstick palette. They’re pocket-sized and convenient, so you can bring one of them with you. You don’t even need a lip brush.
You might recognize some of them from the permanent line. All of them are re-promotes except for Sarah, one of the nudes.
The minis are about half the size of a full-size NARS Audacious Lipstick (0.08 ounces vs. 0.14), and the set is $125. That isn’t cheap but, you know…eight of them at one time, and a regular full-size Audacious is $32.
I wear the Audacious Lipsticks all the time, but I mostly wear the nudes. The bulk of the colors in this set, however, lean toward reds and darker purply maroons.
The reason I don’t wear the darker shades as much is because they tend to grab all of my little lip flakes, and the nudes just look smoother to me. I don’t know why… Maybe I have freakish lips.
Many of these eight are dark, so unless you have flawless, fantastically smooth lips — and if you do, you have to give me your secret because I need to know — they might be hard to pull off.
Some of them also look pretty similar to me…
Honestly, unless you have baby smooth lips and an insatiable appetite for dark shades, I’d probably pass. If there are just one or two colors you like from the set, you could grab ’em in the permanent line.
This set, which is one several sets in the new Sarah Moon collection (available now), totally makes me think of one of my favorite NARS Audacious colors. I seriously need to give it the Unsung Heroes treatment! Anita happens to be in this set. It’s a nude that’s almost always in my makeup bag because it’s one of those shades that I can put on any day and not even trip.
Try it sometime when you’re at Sephora. Just give it a swatch. I think you’ll like it. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I like this set, but all the colors are warm-toned… and, while I can wear warm-toned deep reds on my lips in spite of my very cool undertones, I agree with you that these can look pretty similar on lips! And warm nudes make me look sick/dead/un-dead…
I love the Audacious formula, but some people do find it drying or have other difficulties with it. I have the kind of lips that will chap in about five minutes without something on them — I’ve got lip balms all over the place, because I’ve got to re-coat my lips every time I eat, even if I drink something… so, every morning, after I brush my teeth and wash my face, I put on the basic Fresh Sugar lip balm. By the time I’ve gotten dressed and done my hair and the rest of my makeup, it has sunk into my lips and I apply my lipstick right over it. I don’t have problems with smearing or feathering, although if I was using a super-emollient lip color I might blot my lips first, and I do have to reapply lip color after eating, with the balm underneath. When I go to bed at night I wear the Fresh Sugar Advanced Lip Therapy, with the Hourglass lip oil on top of it. Overkill? No! The Hourglass lip oil seriously stays put — anything else is gone by the time I wake up in the morning. And the advanced lip therapy is super-hydrating. And I exfoliate my lips with a sugar scrub two or three times a week. So I rarely have trouble with flakes! I have to remove my lipstick and start over when I do, ‘cuz when I’ve got flakes, I’ve really got FLAKES, lol.
For serious dry lips I would try a teensy coating of the Hourglass lip oil (well sunk in) under the lip color, since it’s staying power is so powerful.

Fran, you’re blowing my mind right now. I have that Hourglass Lip Oil and I love, love, LOVE it, but I never thought to layer it on top of another product. OMG!!!! I’m going to try it tonight with my Nuxe lip balm.
Fran says
I hope it works well for you, Karen 🙂
Karen says
Me too! Thanks for the idea. It’s genius!
Kiss & Make-up says
The further I scrolled down the prettier the colors got! 😀
Also: your hair. So jealous of how thick and healthy it looks!
Karen says
Aww, thanks girl. It’s finally starting to grow back! A few months after I had the baby so much of it fell out.
Agata says
That set is expensive but the packaging is gorgeous. I think Marlena looks stunning on you!
Karen says
Hi Agata,
It’s some of the best NARS packaging I’ve seen. Or maybe I’m just glad there’s no man junk on the front, HAHA!
Tatiana says
I have to admit, your photos of the untouched bullets with the light glinting off the them, made my heart skip a beat. I do love lipstick. I have too many reds as it is, so I will be passing on this set.
Karen says
NARS has that power! It happens to me whenever I see their shadows and blushes, especially. I had my eye/cheek palette open this morning and had a moment when the light hit Alhambra *just so*. I think NARS counters should have fainting couches just for those moments. ?
Tatiana says
Fainting couches!! Lol. You crack me up. And I couldn’t agree more. It’s definitely one of my favorite brands out there. Along with the hard to obtain SUQQU and the uber expensive Tom Ford.
Karen says
Oh gawd. Speaking of Tom Ford, did you see this? DYING.
Also kinda sorta related — the Victoria Beckham X Estee Lauder has a very Tom Ford vibe. It’s super cool.
Tatiana says
Yeah, I saw the TF palettes. Waffling on one of those. Waffled so long on the Victoria Beckham collection that all the good stuff I wanted is sold out. Maybe I unconsciously did it on purpose to save $$$. I liked the idea of the highlighter. In reality the shimmer wouldn’t work for me. I want a highlighter that makes my skin glow, lit from within, not shimmery or sparkly.
Erin says
I love dark shades but I’m not baby smooth!
Karen says
Hi Erin,
I find that it always helps to prep with lip balm the night before and again right before applying lipstick.
Chris25 says
I actually do want maybe four shades in this, so for me it would be worthwhile.
Karen says
Hi Chris,
It just might be! Hope you get a chance to check it out.
Kim says
I totally agree on minis over palettes for the lip products. It seems like even lip balm dries my lips out lately (like Fran, above). I’m putting some Hourglass Lip Oil on my list!
