Mirror, mirror on the wall…who’s the most beautiful NARSissist of them all?!
I think you already know Tabby’s answer. 🙂
The new limited edition NARSissist fall 2015 eye palettes have mirrors on the packaging so that you may admire yo’ fine self, or so that your kitty cat can admire his floof.
I think it’s pretty convenient and cool, even though it makes these things pick up a sh*t-ton of paw prints whenever I open them.
Both of these here, the NARS Hardwired Eye Kit ($59) and NARS Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette ($65), are new for fall.
The NARS Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette ($65)
The current magic phrase here at MBB headquarters (aka, my office) is “matte eyeshadow,” and whenever those words are spoken, you have to bust out your snake moves.
I’M TOTALLY SERIOUS.
Anyways! The Matte/Shimmer palette has eight 0.05-oz. eyeshadows — four mattes (beige Nassau, warm brown Maya Bay, taupe Ithaca and bluish black Dogon) and four shimmers (greenish gray Mandchourie, peachy tan Bonifacio, golden bronze Zagreb, and black Heraklion) — and a shimmery, pearly black 0.01-oz. mini Night Series Eyeliner in Night Clubbing.
UPDATE JULY 8, 2015: For more thoughts on the NARS Matte/Shimmer palette, check out my review.
I haven’t tried this palette on my eyes yet (sometimes I wish I were Argos, the 100-eyed giant from Greek mythology, so that I could wear more eyeshadows! NEEDZ MOAR EYES!!!), but the shadows all feel very soft in the swatches, which is a good sign.
I’ll know more after I’ve worn them in the next few days.
As for the liner, it’s tabby tum-caliber soft. The tip on this one broke as soon as I drew this swatch on my arm, although the oven-like heat in my office probably didn’t help… Did I mention that our AC is broken?
Sigh…
The Matte/Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette is available now at sephora.com and will be coming to NARS boutiques and the NARS website November 1.
The NARS Hardwired Eye Kit ($59)
Aw, what a cutie. 🙂 The new $59 NARSISSIST Hardwired Eye Kit comes with six 0.04-oz. eyeshadows (three mattes and three shimmers), a tiny eye brush and a brown 0.01-oz. mini Larger Than Life Eyeliner.
First things first, though — the shadows that come with this kit didn’t swatch as smoothly as the shadows in the Matte/Shimmer Palette. The matte beige and the gray scooted and skipped a little, and the matte dark brown didn’t look as intense as I’d hoped. Not only that, a couple of the shimmers (the black and the green), felt a little hard, too, at least compared to the other shadows.
I’ll still try them in a look next week, so we’ll see… I’m trying to stay hopeful.
As for the liner, it’s smooth and silky, just like a Larger Than Life Eyeliner should be.
Oh — and the mini brush? It’s rounded and angled for blending in the crease. I swooshed it back and forth on my lids a few times, and the bristles feel nice and soft.
To get yourself Hardwired (cyberpunk ref), head to your favorite NARS boutique or the NARS website July 15, or to your neighborhood NARS counter August 1.

The Shimmer/Matte palette looks very pretty!
Karen says
Hi Ann! It does. Have you tried any of the NARS eye palettes before?
Have a great weekend!
Ann says
I tried the Nars Dual Intensity palette, and wanted to love it, but I just found that my skills weren’t up to it, lol, so it got returned. I love most of their other products, so I may have to give this palette a try. Have a great weekend 🙂
LindaLibraLoca says
I like the packaging, but to me the prettiest packaging was the white and black one they did for the holdalls last year.
Karen says
I liked that one too! Have a great weekend. What are you up to?
LindaLibraLoca says
Enjoying the last days with my brother-in-law in Norway before heading home on Monday. What have you planned?

Happy 4th Karen! The Shimmer Matte palette colors look perfect for me. Do you think these have a good amount of pigment to make them worth it?
Karen says
Happy fourth to you too! Yes, the pigment seem pretty good. Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

The matte/shimmer palette is totally up my alley. The colours are so pretty.
Vijaya says
I’ve been so into NARS lately. Their eyeshadows KILL IT.
Amber says
I really like the look of the matte/shimmer palette! Bummer about the lesser pigmentation of the Hardwired palette. I still look forward to seeing what looks you come up with! Happy 4th!!
Fancie says
The Matte/Shimmer palette looks niiiice! I love the blue and grey
Kiss & Make-up says
I don’t care much for the colors in either of the palettes, but that pencil in the Hardwired set, oh wowies. Love the look of that one!
Alison M says
The Matte/Shimmer palette is everything. I think I’ll opt for this over the Urban Decay Smoky palette because NARS tends to give me less fall-out. However. I am not thrilled about all the new packaging being mirrored! It looks great, but I really like the typical all-black compacts.
Tatiana says
I can’t wait to see these in person. That’s the only way I’ll be able to decide between the two of them. So many things on my wish list. Sigh.
Erin says
The matte shimmer palette is nice but I’d need to swatch it all on me.
Joelle says
Urrggghh…so annoying. I love that matte/shimmer one and I can totally order it now (thanks wallet for making me a Sephora VIB) BUT……!!!!! I was all prepared to buy the UD Smoky Palette in the next days and what – now I see Nars has this? Price-point wise, the UD is by far a better ‘deal’. However, I’m just wondering if you could possibly make any sort of guesstimate or opinion as to which palette is better? Is it apples to oranges?
Amanda says
I saw this and ordered it immediately!
I’ll be waiting for your follow up and review – I’m dying to see what you think of it after playing with it more!
