Right now my dark under-eye circles and I (we’re inseparable!) are at Sephora checking out DuWop’s new Circle Block concealer ($28).
It’s a two part system with a pan of creamy peach waterproof color corrector in the cap and a liquid under-eye concealer in the jar (available in three shade families: light, medium and dark).
Applied first, the peach color corrector is supposed to cover dark circles and prime them for the concealer, which gets applied directly on top of the corrector.
I’m trying to decide between the light and medium shades…
Also from DuWop for spring, the new Foundation of Youth oil-free foundation ($28) comes in six shades that look perfect for travel. The tube comes with a built-in brush, which you don’t see every day with foundation. That’s kinda cool.
The package says Foundation of Youth plumps fine lines, hydrates and restores firmness, hmm…
It feels lightweight to the touch, and the beige shade almost perfectly matches my skin tone. I’ll tell you what — that almost never happens to me with foundations. It must be a sign!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Shivotra says
Hey Karen…you should do a review for most popular foundations…I am YET to find the perfect foundation for me. Maybe that will help lots ^^
Thanks
Karen says
Hi Shivotra,
I have a few that I love and use all the time — have you ever used Laura Merciers’ Oil-Free? It’s won a bunch of beauty awards in the past. It covers everything and doesn’t break me out (really great for photography!).
Shivotra says
And after much struggles, I have got rid of my dark circles with the help of lancome’s serum for eyes…its fabulous and the only thing that worked for me…maybe give that a try?
Karen says
Hi Shivotra,
Thanks for the rec. I’ll see if I can snag a sample at the counter. 🙂
Shefali says
I really like that brush idea. Are you going to review these two products?
Karen says
Hi Shefali,
Me too! I like that it’s in a flat tube, too (totally handy for trips).
Yup, I’ll be reviewing ’em both. I hope they work!
Christina says
Ooh, I’ve been dying to read a review on the foundations that come with the built-in brush!
Christina´s last blog post..No More Babies… For Now
Karen says
Hi Christina,
I’ll be testing the foundation over the next few days. 🙂
noi says
like Christina, i’ve been dying to read a review about this kind of foundations.. might try the Neutrogena, if ever (cheaper than DuWop)! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Noi,
Neutrogena makes some nice makeup. I’ve never tried their foundations before, but I do love their blushes.
Kypris says
What do you think of Bobbi Brown foundation in comparison? My sister and friend swear by it, and although I never use foundation, I’ve heard it’s great because it doesn’t make the face oily and blemish-prone. Is DuWop the same?
Karen says
Hi Kypris,
I haven’t tried Bobbi’s foundations. I have Laura Mercier, Chanel and Becca in my stash. All of those work great on my combo (oily/dry) and acne-prone skin. I haven’t tried this one yet so we’ll see. I’ll let you know if it breaks me out.
Linda says
A 2 part system for undereyes. I might try it. I use 2 concealers now anyway.
Linda´s last blog post..I need a new name…
Karen says
Hi Linda,
What two concealers do you use now?
Synaesthesia says
wow.. i would like to try on this foundation.. it looks so cool…
Karen says
Hi Synaesthesia,
I hope it doesn’t break me out! I’m looking forward to trying it out.
jojoba says
wow you could do that a the counter! COOL!!! this line looks very interesting. We need it here!
jojoba´s last blog post..Review/FOTD: Make Up For Ever Mascara Smoky Lash
Karen says
Hi Jojoba,
Yup! All of the colors are there and you can test ’em to your heart’s content. Will let you know if it’s any good. 🙂
Kimie says
So this week I was outta foundation and too lazy to go to the mall to get my usual studio fix fluid, and since I was already in Target, I decided to try out the Revlon spa foundation with it’s own brush, very similar to the Duwop one! I wasnt expecting much but ya know this stuff really works great! I got the color light medium and it evens out the redness and looks natural. Coverage is sheer to medium, I still needed concealer for my own dark circles ( grrrr) It also has an on off position which is great for travel. So there ya go for everyone wanting to try foundation with it’s own brush but are low on cizash.. try this one 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kimie,
Thanks for the drugstore recommendation! 🙂
Bj says
Im still on the fence about this concealer, i was gonna get it but i got some from cargo instead but this looks so cool. I tried it in sephora but it just didnt look awesome, but i did have on some makeup already so that could have affected the outcome. its rainy and gross today though and my circles are kickin girl, so maybe ill stop by and give it another shot
Karen says
Hi BJ,
I’m hoping that peachy color corrector works a minor miracle (plus it’s waterproof!). We’ll see. I went in all excited about the concealer, but I think I’m more stoked about the foundation now. 🙂
If I could I would send you some sunshine. It’s gonna be in the 70’s here today!
Stephie says
YAY for perfect match foundation! I hope it works out for you Karen. I heard that the Du Wop concealer is for those really bad mamajammas of dark circle and if your dark circles aren’t too bad it’s gonna come out orangey and unnatural looking. I don’t have an issue w/ dark circles myself but I’d love to hear about the foundation. If only it didnt come w/ that brush. What a hassle to clean 🙁
Karen says
Hi Stephie,
You are lucky! I have those bad mamma jammas, and they are not cute!
I think I’ll probably end up using the brush more to just deposit the product onto my face, rather than blend it. I prefer fingers for foundation because I’m lazy (LOL) and I like how they warm up the product.
Ann says
I definitely want to see how this turns out. My undereye circles are awful. someone even commented that I had DOUBLE BAGS going on!! ugh needless to say I’m looking for the perfect cover up too!
Karen says
Hi Ann,
I tried it yesterday. I think I need to work on my application more and figure out the right coverup to concealer ratio. I’ll put up a review after I use it a few more times. 🙂
Glosslizard says
Looking forward to the review, I could use a little hydration and firmness myself (sob)! I also want to try out the new Chanel Lift Lumiere!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
I would like double hydration with some extra firmness on the side, please. 🙂
I saw that foundation the other day! I’m kinda lusting after it.
Nicole15 says
I tried the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers foundation with the built in brush & hated it. Not a good quality brush and did nothing but streak the foundation all over my face. I’m hoping DuWop’s version is better because I do like the convenience of the whole concept w/ brush & foundation all-in-one. Will we get a review on the DuWop version Karen??
Karen says
Hi Nicole15,
Yup! I usually like to use a product for a week or so to get a fair feel of it, so prolly next week. So far I’m *really* loving the foundation! 🙂
Shivotra says
Hey Karen,
I’ll try that, but I have also been meaning to try Prescriptives….have heard lots of good things bout them. I want to try Laura Mercier, thanks for the suggestion.
Karen says
Hi Shivotra,
I used the Prescriptives liquid one a long time ago and I remember it covering everything. It did feel heavy on my skin, though. They have a new stick foundation that looks really neat. I haven’t tried it yet but it sure looks handy!
Sheila says
I used to have really bad under eye circles that every make-up counter person felt compelled to point out to me. Even when I was wearing concealer. A friend suggested Benefit’s Eyecon and after a few months I did notice a difference. It’s now been a year and I barely need to use concealer anymore.
Karen says
Hi Sheila,
That’s great to hear that a cream worked so well for you! I might have to try it. 🙂
Glosslizard says
Mmm, yes. Chanel lust. A common malady!
Martusia says
Unfortunately, the foundation of youth is $38, not $28 🙁 Too bad.
Marcella says
I too have suffered with dark undereye circles and general bad skin around my eyes. I’ve tried every eye cream imaginable – from clinique to oil of olay. None was particularly spectacular or produced any measurable results. I took my search online to find something more intense to use and chanced upon an eye cream called Extreme Eye Rescue by Isabella Pelle. It has soy rice peptides, retinol, and pentapeptides – among other ingredients. I ordered it and was actually surprised…after a night of having it on I could have sworn my dark undereye circles had faded a bit. Thought I might be hallucinating, but I continued using it. By the time I reached the end of the bottle I was impressed – my dark circles had faded and the skin quality around my eyes had improved a lot. I’ve been using it since and love it. It’s fairly inexpensive and the company offers free shipping on all orders. Check them out 🙂
