The MAC 33 Lash ($16) is a bundle of joy — well, technically, bundles of joy — and my favorite false lash style in MAC’s entire permanent line.
See how the lashes are gathered into little bundles along the strip? And how within each bundle, the individual lashes on the sides are shorter than they are in the middle?
Also, notice how the biggest, baddest bundles are near the middle of the strip?
Now that’s just cool. And fancy. 🙂
“Well, hello there, young sir. Why, yes, these are my natural lashes, and yes, I do always look this wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, thank you for asking. I hope you don’t mind if I bat my “natural” lashes at you. It’s a nervous habit, tee-hee!”
I love that when I wear these, I can really see the difference in the length and thickness of my lashes, but I still feel like they could almost pass for natural. They’re big, but not crazy, totally outlandishly huge.
That said, these are not the false lashes I’d want to wear if I were otherwise covered in glitter at da cloob.… Not that I’ve done anything like that in, like, 10 years.
Seriously, if there were a cage, glitter and dancing in my immediate future (stranger things have happened), I’d probably opt for something more club-rageous like MAC’s 34 or 36 lashes instead.
These 33s are more like wedding day lashes — flirty, classic, beautiful and comfy. The super thin lash strip feels like nothing at all on my lids, and the lashes themselves aren’t so long that they make my eyes feel all droopy, which happens with some really ridonkulously huge false lashes.
Price is often the biggest problem with false lashes, considering that they’re rarely wearable more than a few times. These might seem pricey at $16 each, but as long as I’m gentle when I remove them, I feel like I can get pretty good mileage out of every pair.
If I’m careful when I pull them off and store them in the original container (which maintains their shape), I can use a pair 4-5 times, which on a wear-by-wear basis, works out to about $4 per 33 Lash-enhanced event.
What a beautiful day…
Thanks for being there for me yesterday after I mentioned going to that funeral. 🙂 Your nice comments helped a lot, and I feel pretty good today, almost energized, actually, because I think the funeral reminded me not to take anything for granted.
I hate to sound like some cliché on a cross-stitched pillow…but life is astonishingly short. Scary short. And we gotta cherish every flower, every smile and every single deep breath we’re lucky enough to be able to take, because nothing lasts forever.
Kinda heavy for a hump day, I know… I never used to think things like this when I was younger. I’ve always been a pretty happy-go-lucky person, but somewhere along the way, and without my knowledge or consent, I think I turned into a full-fledged adult.
Sometimes, though, like I think most people do, I get caught up in my day-to-day grind and forget how lucky I am. Like today, I have you, my fam, El Hub, a husky tabby, a keyboard and a beautiful Northern California day to be thankful for.
That’s more than enough. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

These lashes look so great! I’ve never been a falsies person but I know I should try to get into it lol.
You’re right – we need to be thankful every day! I really don’t want to go to the gym today but I’m trying to remind myself that I should be grateful that I’m even CAPABLE of going to the gym. That’s something to be happy about!
Karen says
Absolutely. Gotta remember to be grateful for the ability to work out and enjoy the endorphin rush. 🙂
Chelsea says
I’ve never worn falsies before, but I think I might try for Halloween.
Karen says
You can do it! It’s actually pretty easy once you do it about 3-4 times. 🙂
Nina says
Very dramatic yet wearable!
Karen says
Totally! I’d rock these to Trader Joe’s, for sure!
Nina says
Haha! Have I told you we went? I bought a bunch of things and they have all been yummy-ful
The one we went too is still a bit of a drive. Theres one thats a straight shot from my house opening in a month!
Karen says
No, I didn’t know! I’m so glad. What do you like so far? I hope you got to try the Mango Bars, nom nom!
Jennifer says
I wouldn’t even know how to apply them!
Karen says
Here’s one way to apply lashes, Jennifer:

Glad that you’re feeling better. 🙂 Very true though. We need to cherish everyday since life really is short. The fact that I’m 25% through (assuming that I live to 100) is kinda scary, and the idea that I’ll need to say goodbye to my friends and family someday is very sobering. But it’s exactly those reasons why we need to take in each and every moment and try not to get to caught up in the things that don’t matter.
Many hearts and good vibes being sent your way! 🙂
Karen says
Hi MJ,
I will happily take those hearts and good vibes. Thank you for for this!
Wendy says
I LOVE these falsies. I’m thinking I might go even bigger for Halloween though. 🙂
Karen says
Yes! Do you have a favorite type/brand of false lashes, Wendy?
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Glad you’re feeling a bit better Karen 🙂
And I LOVE those lashes! I’ve never seen them before but I think I will definitely have to grab some. I love the look of individual lashes but I fail so hard at trying to apply them myself. My lashes are very thin and sparse, so when I have the bunches with the knots or knot-free, they don’t have anything to hold on to, which is why I find strips easier to apply, since they have all that space and more balance. I haven’t seen any individual bunches with little strips at the base before, but I think these might actually work for me!
Karen says
Hi Becca,
Individual lashes are really hard. I’ve yet to master those! If you ever find a no-fail tip/trick I’d love to hear about it!
Karen says
Oh yeah, I think MAC makes individual lashes in bundles like this!

Oh, I’m so sorry about the funeral. It’s one of my least favorite things in the world because I can’t help but cry when someone else does and I know from experience that the last thing a grieving family member needs is someone blubbering all over them. No matter how hard people try to celebrate their loved one’s life, funerals are always incredibly sad to me. I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better and I’m sorry I’m just seeing your note now. 🙁
Karen says
Hi Kim,
Thanks for this. It was hard. It’s been a rough couple of days. I spent a lot of time with her family as a teenager, and it now feels like the end of an era. Both of her parents are gone and she’s our age. 🙁
It also made me realize that someday my mom won’t be around forever. And neither will I. I just hope that when my time comes, I’ll be able to leave something good behind, you know? I still feel like there’s some sort of “great art” to be made, but I just don’t know how to get there. Anywho. I’m sure this very depressing, LOL. But it’s what’s been on my mind lately.
Hope you and your fam and doing well. 🙂
Tina @ My Highest Self says
Man I wish I could master false lashes, it’s impossible for me! These look like the perfect pair.
