Did you take advantage of the one-day product preview sale last Thursday to snag a tube of Lancome’s Oscillation mascara? I passed for now, opting instead to hear from women brave enough to apply mascara with a power tool.
I’m willing to wait until Oscillation’s full-scale release this November, but the hype surrounding the product still got me thinking about some of Lancome’s greatest hits, like their Waterproof Eyeliner (RUN to your nearest Lancome counter to get this liner, ladies) and lipsticks.
- Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner
“Le Stylo Waterproof reminds me a lot of my beloved MAC Technakohl liner. Like Technakohl, it has a twist-up tip and a creamy formula that glides on without tugging or pulling. Le Stylo outlasts Technakohl, though, when applied to the waterline, which is why I’m using it today. It also sports a sponge smudger on one end — handy for diffusing harsh edges and lines.” - Lancome High Definicils Mascara
“High Definicils, Lancome’s new release of their legendary glossy black Definicils mascara, features an improved soft rubber brush that makes Definicils much easier to apply.” -
Lancome Star Bronzer
“Lancome obviously had fun with this compact. Within the image in the pan are three different bronzing colors. I love the golden brown matte from the cherub’s bum.”
- Lancome Pixel Pink
“Lancome’s got a video on Youtube celebrating Pixel Pink Color Fever Shine lipstick, the limited edition shade created for fashion designer Thankoon Panichgul’s Spring 2008 runway show. While the entire video is an interesting insight into the inspiration behind the lipstick and the backstage goings-on at NY Fashion Week, my favorite parts are the animated sequences of ‘moving paintings’ by experimental filmmaker Jeff Scher.” - Lancome Color Fever Lipstick
“Pink Fever, a new malady afflicting makeup junkies worldwide, has beauty enthusiasts worried. Seasonally, the spread of Pink Fever coincides with pink lipstick lust and causes one to obsess over pink, cherry-blossom-esque lip colors like the three below from Lancome’s Color Fever Lipstick ($25 each) collection.” - Lancome Stylish Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette
“If I were forced to pick just one eyeshadow palette to bring with me on, say, a three-day trip to Las Vegas, that palette would have to be the new Lancome Stylish Neutrals Color Design Artist Palette.” - Lancome Colour Focus Palette in Black Tie Affair
“If you’ve followed this blog for a while you know I sometimes feel too purple to function when working the shades o’ eggplant. But, alas, all four colors in Black Tie Affair are so creamy and buildable that even the clumsy (ahem, like yours truly) can easily use them to do a purple smoky eye.” - Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover
“I’m not one who usually falls for product hype but damn, Lancome Bi-Facil is good. I’m talking fresh brownies, extra sleep and Christian Bale in a tuxedo good. So good that peasants gotta bow down and shake before the mighty baby blue bottle! So good that … okay, okay. You get the picture.” - Lancome Miracle Forever Eau De Parfum Spray
“Miracle Forever is one of those universal scents every woman will love, with notes of black currant, star anis (a fruit grown in Southern China, who knew?) and almond cream. It’s definitely not stuffy, too ‘old lady’ or too in your face and will appeal to lots of different fragrance personalities.” - Makeup Tutorial: A Peach, Brown and Green Eye for Summer
“Lancome knocked it out of the park with Couture Warms, ladies!”
What are your favorite Lancome products?
Aren’t ya glad tomorrow isn’t Monday? I am! Before going out to get Stephenie Meyer’s new book last night I watched Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing on TV, which totally made me crave a slice of thin crust, NY-style pizza. So, for lunch today I stopped by a local pizzeria and got a slice. SO GOOD!
After the pizza I parked my boo-tay on a bench under some trees and listened to the wind while reading the first couple chapters of Breaking Dawn.
Tomorrow Tabs heads to the vet. Here’s his ride:
I hope he fits and doesn’t freak out when I stuff him inside! He’s not exactly petite.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

hey karen!
yay for the cat space shuttle! i hope tabs is okay and that he will continue living with you and el hub.
my favorite lancome products to date are:
color design (is that what it’s called?) lipstick in jezebel (a deep blackened rose-red/berry)
fatale and hypnose mascaras
dual finish multipurpose powder makeup (almost as good as benefit get even, but close!) in matte porcelaine ivoire (like the name suggests, a creamy, yellow based porcelain)
le crayon khol in noir lapis (a deep, blue-black navy)

Cute Tabs, you make me want a cat now! And I’m a dog person. Is he a mellow fellow or a playful kitty? My cousin’s old cat was very mischievous but after he was neutered, he calmed down a little. When I came back to visit, he still remembered me and when I left he just jumped right on top of my luggage. Very sentimental cat but he passed away about a year ago. I miss him!
I have a Lancome eyeshadow duo and I love it! I don’t like the lip stuff at all because of the smell.

The only thing I have ever used from Lancome is the Juicy Tubes and I highly dislike them.
You look fabulous in your picture. Love the make up!
You need to pimp Tabs’ ride out. Add some bling or something,

Poor Tabs. I bet he’s thinking “Oh my god. Its bad enough she takes me to the vet…but in this? Really?”
In my late teens, I used Lancome skincare, so the smell of Eau de Bienfait and the Hydra Zen moisturiser reminds me of that time – mostly of the trip to L.A. we took when I was 18. Both are lovely products but also at least twice the price of the Liz Earle stuff I use at the moment and not as effective on my skin.
I’ve got a couple of Juicy Tubes (one of my friends won a 3-gloss set in a thing at work and gave it to me, little sweetie that he is) but I find them a little too sticky at times. I’m not sure what all the fuss about them is and would definitely rather be using my Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss instead.
I’ve also got some eyeshadows and they’re really nice, give a lovely colour payoff and are pretty shades of pastel purple.
I might have a look at the Le Stylo liner, I’m only recently getting to grips with the eyeliner thing, so something waterproof for my waterline would be good.

I have a few things I like: Juicy Tubes, the elephant bronzer from Maharani Jewels, the Secrets of Bengal quad from Maharani Jewels, and Color Design lipstick in Camisole (GWP). I also bought the lipstick from Daria Werbowy collection and I really like that too! So far, I’ve not been disappointed. My problem with Lancome is that everything is so dang EXPENSIVE!
Glosslizard says
I used to buy a lot of Lancome (scoring the GWP’s) until I realized that I’m just not that into it! 😉 The lippies are ok, but not that impressive (I much prefer Chanel, MAC or Smashbox) and the eyeshadows are similarly lacking in some key element!
I do like their mascaras (although not enough to actually purchase one lately) and the Bifacil makeup remover (although I’ve never gotten it outside of a GWP). I also want to try out the LeStylo pencils you’ve been raving about! Yes, hope springs eternal!

Hey Karen,
Wishing my best to Tabs! Hopefully his trip is a success and he’s healthy. 🙂
I really like Lancome’s Effacernes concealer. It does a good job of covering up under-eye circles and has a good staying power. I don’t use it anymore, though, because it’s not a holy grail product and a bit costly for what it does, but if you need an item to score one of those GWPs, it works out well, lol.
Also, I’m on your side with that vibrating mascara. The whole concept just freaks me out. 🙂 Otherwise, what’s your number one favorite Lancome item?
Rosie Dust says
Bifacils. hands down. However, i cannot get over how expensive it is!! I remember buying it in 1992 for around 12-15 and i thought that was outrageous. now i give up. i’ve tried others but bifacils is the best.

“apply mascara with a power tool”… you are right on, Karen! I love your blog.
I do like Lancome’s mascaras, but I’ve found that Rimmel gives me the same bang for a quarter the buck!
Karen says
Hi Ines!
The vet visit didn’t go as planned today. We’ll have to take him back next week for round two (sigh). I really hope, too, that he wants to keep living with us.
Thanks for sharing your Lancome faves. I haven’t tried these products yet so I’m going to put them on my list. Lapis sounds lovely!
Hope you had a wonderful Sunday.
Karen says
Hi Dao,
Your cousin’s cat sounds like he was one special kitty. You know, I’m usually a dog person, too, but Tabs is very charming. He is very affection and just wants to be close to you… he loves it when I scoop him up and I cradle him in my arms like a little baby. I walk around the house with him like that he he just purrs like crazy. I think you’d fall in love with him instantly.
Anyhoo, speaking of lipsticks with scents, how do you feel about Estee Lauder’s? Those to me have the most fragrant and strong scent. I don’t mind it, though.
Karen says
Hi Marisol,
Ahh, Tabs’ ride unfortunately is no longer pimpable. 🙁 He tore it up… not in a good way, tough. He literally clawed his way through it. Turns out we’ll have to try again next week for round two.
Karen says
Hi Jane,
RIGHT? Le Stylo frickin’ rocks. I am very pro tranny lashes so I’m gonna have to try the Fatale with the booster combo. Do you have any application suggestions for me?
I am very sorry for the loss of your kitty Monty.
Karen says
Hi Beth,
Turns out he REALLY hated his ride. He tore right through it. I’ll never forget seeing his head bust through the side of that… I swear it all happened in slow motion.
I had major fear of liner until I discovered the twist up, non-sharpening liners like Le Stylo and MAC Technakohl. The easiest way I know to wear eyeliner is to dot the liner on the lash line. I usually space the dots out evenly. Then, with the sponge end of the Le Stylo pen, gently “connect” the dots by smudging the color together. This creates a super soft line that never looks too harsh or over done. Plus, it gives me a lot of room for error.
Hope your foot is feeling better, girlie. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
That’s fantastic. I can’t wait for you to snag it! Are you still using it as a reward/bribe?
Karen says
Hi Jojoba,
You’re welcome. The Warm Couture palette is probably my favorite Lancome palette of all time. It’s really flexible!
Karen says
Hi Shefali!
If you’re liking the line you gotta check out the Le Stylo liner. Seriously, it’s the best.
Hope you’ve had time to relax and have fun this weekend. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
I want to get a bunch of colors… that’s how much I like ’em.
Hope you had a good weekend so far! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Elena,
It didn’t go quite as we expected this morning with Tabs so we’ll have to try again next week.
Oh! I am mega undereye circles and am always hunting for new concealer. What is your fave?
As for my favorite Lancome item, it’s a toss between Le Stylo liner and the Couture Warms palette. I *love* them both! Le Stylo because it’s so easy to use and it doesn’t budge, and the Couture Warms palette for all of its flexibility.
Karen says
Hi Rosie Dust,
OMG, it costs an arm and a leg but that shizz works. I love it. I’ve tried other brands, too, but it seriously is the best at removing waterproof and long-wear products easily and quickly.
Karen says
Hi Gauss,
🙂 Thanks! Which Rimmel mascara is your fave?
Shefali says
Hi Karen!
I’m definitely checking that liner out. It sounds like something I really need, especially when it’s hot!
I had some fun this weekend and am emotionally over my week last week. I went to the Getty Museum with my hubs and 20-month-old little guy. It was alot of fun. Watching him getting sheer enjoyment out of just running down a grassy hill reminds me of life’s simple pleasures 🙂
Karen says
Hi Shefali,
It’s really amazing how seeing the world through a child’s eyes gives one a different perspective on things. Small moments like that are like life’s little treasures.
Glad to hear that you got to relax and lil’ this weekend and spend time with your guys! 🙂

Erm, I guess. If it ever arrives/she finds it. Lol.

Stylish Neutrals Palette!!!! Oh. My. Goodness. My life had a void in it before I purchased this. And now that it’s been in my arsenal for a few months, my life has never been more complete.
Is that too much? ;D
Dao says
My mom is a fan of Estee Lauder’s lipsticks but I’m not. I find their lipsticks too drying and the smell is kinda weird as well. Haven’t use them for ages!
