What do ya think of these new lipglosses from Lancome’s Pink Irreverence spring collection?
Black AND hot fuschia lipgloss? I’m *so there*.
Lancome chose to do something a little bolder than usual for a spring release. If Chanel’s Bohemian Fantasy and Dior’s Lady Dior collections were meant for sundresses and sandals, then Pink Irreverence was made for little black dresses and four-inch, black patent leather stilettos.
The collection features a variety of pinks ranging from ultra bright to nude, and a couple of surprise black products thrown in for good measure.
The ultra shimmery La Laque Fever Lip Shines (sparkly!) and Piha Black lipgloss immediately caught my eye. I’m not sure I’d ever wear a black gloss, but it sure looks neat, yah?
Lips
La Laque Fever Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lip Shine ($26)
From left to right: Electric Pink,Lucent Nude, Iridescent, Optical Rose
I found these at my local Lancome counter this afternoon and couldn’t pass up the chance to try on Electric Pink!
If you like sparkly, shiny shades, I think you’ll love these colors. They’re long-wearing and feel like a mix between lipstick and gloss.
From left to right: Electric Pink,Lucent Nude, Iridescent, Optical Rose
- Electric Pink: a shimmery hot pink
- Lucent Nude: a creamy peach brown
- Iridescent: a shimmery coral pink
- Optical Rose: a shimmery cool light pink
Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black ($25)
Um, hello, would you ever wear this bad boy? It’s a shimmery black gloss with flecks of blue glitter. It may be a little too goth for me, but I’ve been told it’s uber-wearable and looks good on top of the lipsticks in the collection (supposedly adds dimension).
Color Fever Lipstick ($25)
From left to right: Pink Attitdue, Mademoiselle, Rock Icon Fuschia, Forget Me Not
I’m such a sucker for pink lipsticks! I liked all of these shades, but I LOVED Mademoiselle.
- Pink Attitude: frosty pink gold
- Mademoiselle: creamy rose pink
- Rock Icon Fuschia: creamy hot pink
- Forget Me Not: creamy plum
Color Fever Plumper Gloss ($29)
The Downtown Pink shade = hotness. 🙂
From left to right: Fuschia Flaunt, Downtown Pink, City Mauve, Rose Pink
- Fuschia Flaunt: shimmery plum
- Downtown Pink: creamy hot pink
- City Mauve: creamy mauve pink
- Rose Pink: shimmery pale pink
Eyes
Color Design Eyeshadow Quad ($42)
The plum shade in Mademoiselle Sass kinda reminds me of Chanel’s Magic Night Eyeshadow…
I definitely like both of these quads, but I think the colors may look better on women with a cooler skin tone than mine (or neutral).
- Irreverent Madame: frosty cool white, frosty cool light pink, gray black matte with silver flecks, matte hot pink
- Mademoiselle Sass: shimmery beige, shimmery rose pink, matte plum black, creamy taupe
Color Design Pro Illuminator ($20)
From left to right: High Expectations, Hard to Get
These creamy shadows sho’ bring the pigment!
- High Expectations: shimmery taupe
- Hard to Get: shimmery cool seashell pink
Le Crayon Kohl Waterproof ($23.50)
From left to right: Blanc, Rebellious Berry, Brun, Confidence Noir
I’ve never tried these Lancome liners before, but if they’re half as great as the Le Stylo Waterproof liners, I just might have a new makeup addiction, LOL!
- Blanc: matte white
- Rebellious Berry: matte berry
- Brun: matte gold brown
- Confidence Noir: matte blue black
Laque Liner ($25)
From left to right: Pure Black, Pure Sparkle
And the iddy biddy brush applicator that comes with Laque Liner makes perfectly precise, thin lines.
- 01 Pure Black: matte black
- 02 Pure Sparkle: shimmery white
Face
Blush Subtil ($29.50)
From left to right: High Maintenance, Extravegance
I get the impression that both of these blushes are a little too sheer for my skin tone. I think they’re optimized for pale beauties.
- High Maintenance: matte rose pink
- Extravegance: shimmery pink brown
Nails
Gah! They didn’t have testers on counter for these shades, but here are some shots.
Le Vernis ($18)
- Pina Black:shimmery black with silver flecks
- Sassiness: shimmery pink
What do ya think? Does Lancome’s Pink Irreverence collection hit or miss?

Wow…this collection is shocking and skipped Spring! It jumped into summer (which is my fav season). It certainly gives you a jolt after the winter blues. I really like it…and I gotta check out this black gloss deal to see if it really does give dimension.
Karen says
Hi Shefali,
I KNOW! I felt like it sorta came out of left field. I like it though… I predict I will be back for Electric Pink in less than 72 hours, LOL.
ines says
i love all bold lipstick colors (hot pink, fuchsia, red, orange etc) so i’ll go take a look at these… drooling over that fuchsia lipstick!
Glosslizard says
I am such a sucker for unusual lipgloss shades! I gotta have Piha Black (I’ll probably layer it over other colors for an intense shade effect or wear it alone for gothy goodness) and the green gloss from the Guerlain spring collection! Yummy stuff from Lancome! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ines,
It’s totally disco, but in a good glitter way. I’m sort of on pink gloss lockdown (LOL, yeah right), but I don’t think I’ll be able to stay away. The other colors in that line are pretty and wearable, too. 🙂
Hope you had a lovely Friday! Got any exciting plans?
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
I wish I had gusto to pull off the gothy gloss look! Dang!
The blue flecks in Piha tempt me. *le sigh*
Maggie says
wow! the lippies look gorgeous! i wish i could afford them with the hello kitty mac colletion coming out soon! XD
Tiera says
I remember being younger and thinking that Lancome was such an “old lady” brand… thank goodness I’m over that! Over the last couple of years, I’ve grown into a major Lancome fan, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this stuff 🙂

OMG!!!! colours colours colours!!!! I am always interested in Lancome even though it’s such an old granny’s brand according to some. There are many good products in ths brand. We are gettign different items from the US version and it’s always interesting to see the differences. Great review! Thanks again.

Piha Black looks amazing layered on top of red lips. Dark and vampy, just the way I dig it! Have a look here if you want to: http://bjooti.net/?p=5092

I am loving the Electric Pink… and the fuschia. The black I could see buying because it LOOKS so pretty in the tube, but I don’t know that I’d wear it…

Lancôme, why do you tempt me so? Hehe.
Those waterproof crayon kohls are fab. I have the one in raisin noir and I love it!
Interesting how the plum shade of the second quad is like the single from Chanel. I’ll check it out…

Love the lucent nude gloss and the Mademoiselle Sass quad! Looks like the colors for me! Sadly, as much as I love the fushia lip, it’s a horribly wrong color on me. I have the Le Stylo waterproof liner in Brun. It’s really great, and the staying power is fantastic.
yadiq says
This is so up my alley !!!
I will have to check the lip stuff out they all look fabulous the eyeshadows aren’t rocking my world though to me they seem a liittle conservative in comparison to the sexiness the rest of the collection provides – I dunno – it could be just me being crazy though!! Piña gloss intrigues me alone I couldn’t wear it but I think combined as a “shader” on the corners of the lips and then blended outwards would definitely give dimesion I am sure it’s got some sheerness to it in order to create dimension !! I think you could rock it with your red lipsticks and be super sultry and red carpetesque in no time
Yes that pink is the hotness!!
Glosslizard says
Y’know, I’ll bet the black looks amazing over a deep red or dark pink… ooh! Burgundy! You get my drift! I am sure you could wear it to stunning effect! 😀
Karen says
Hi Maggie,
Yeah… are you excited? I can’t wait to try the Hello Kitty colors in person.
Karen says
Hi Tiera,
Yeah, me too! When I was in high school all the girls wore Lancome Tresor perfume, but that was about it, though.
Karen says
Hi Jojoba,
It seems like within the last few years they’ve been pushing to become hipper. I’ve liked quite a few of the releases they’ve done… this one is really cute (omg, HOT PINK GLOSS!).
When will you guys be getting spring?
Karen says
Hi Katarina,
You look great in this gloss! I dunno if I could pull it off but I just might try it. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Justine,
Piha is SO pretty in the tube… those blue flecks are entrancing!
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
I had a feeling you’d like this. I know you’ve got a weakness for Lancome.
Do you ever use the waterproof crayon kohls on the waterline? How is the staying power?
Karen says
Hi Karen4,
Looks like I’m going to have to develop a Le Stylo Waterproof Kohl addiction. 🙂 How do you like it for smudging? Does it layer well with powder shadow?
Karen says
Hi Yadiq,
That was one of the methods that the Lancome makeup artist I spoke with suggested. She said it looks good for night looks when you pair it with a hot pink or a red and apply it in the corners. 🙂
Let me know what you think of it after ya check it out!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Eek! I will probably end up trying it just for the heck of it. 🙂
Do you think you’ll end up getting any of the release?
Ellery says
I love everything! Especially the lip glosses, but super especially that black lipgloss! Mmm!
Christina says
These colors are gorgeous! I don’t wear lip color often (I guzzle coffee all day and I’m too lazy to reapply), but if I did I’d love to try the black gloss. Did you layer it over anything even in a swatch?

I was so excited that I wanted to say something about this collection but, I couldn’t. We dont have Pink Irreverence yet but we are waiting for it …
Glosslizard says
I am so attracted to those colors, but I already have Chanel Splendeur! I’m not sure how many hot pink lipsticks I actually need, but I’m deffo going for the Piha Black! 😀
lesley says
Those are some great colours! But I have to agree with the above that it is quite summer-ish, I don’t mind though! It’s quite refreshing after the dreary winter season.
When I first saw that black lip gloss I have to admit that I was taken aback by it. I’m not sure if I’d ever give in to buy a tube and try to give my lipstick more dimension… maybe the blue in it is supposed to help make your teeth look whiter as well?
Did you go to Fisherman’s Wharf today by the way? It’s nice out here right now, perfect weather to be walking around the city =)
Tiffany says
I like some of the lipglosses, but they are a little pricey for me… I wanna see the black lipgloss on someone! I bet it could look good if applied really sheer?
NJ says
Thanks so much for the swatches Karen, I’m now dying to rock the fushia pink look with those quads. I’ve never tried any of their cream shadows, do they have good staying power?
I’m guessing that black gloss would look great over a bold red lip for an extra shot of vamp.
Karen says
Hi Ellery,
You’d look really fierce in that hot pink sparkly gloss, m’dear. It’s guaranteed. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Christina,
I was in a hurry so I didn’t… I’ll go back to the counter and try it on just for fun, though. When I do I’ll take pics.
Karen says
Hi Tatiana,
Yow! When you get it in you gotta tell me what to do with that black gloss. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
LOL, I’m not sure how many hot pink lipsticks I actually need, either. This is a question I ponder almost every time I’m at the makeup counter!
Karen says
Hi Lesley,
I did make it to Fisherman’s Warf. It was super bright and almost warm today. 🙂 Did you get outside today? I hope so. 🙂
Karen says
Hi TIffany,
I will have to go back and try it on! I’ll take pics, too. 🙂
Karen says
Hi NJ,
I am new to Lancome cream shadows, too. The two that I swatched on the back of my hand had a couple of good things going for them. They had a lot of pigmentation, seemed to have really good staying power (after they dried they didn’t move) and had really lovely shimmer.
I haven’t used them on my lids so I can’t say if powder shadows blend well on top, though!
Do you like cream shadows? Benefit makes some good ones. 🙂
rebecca says
Karen,
Some makeup artist–not sure who–said to use the black gloss as an eye gloss. It looks like it may have been used that way on the display picture. Thank you so much to Katarina for linking to a picture showing the gloss in use!
Karen says
Hi Rebecca,
Hmm, that’s interesting. I would try that but I’m always so freaked out about what I put on my lids… my skin is so terribly breakout prone.
Are you a Lancome fan? Do you think you might pick up any bits of this collection?
Faye says
This looks sooo cool! Of course Piha Black nail polish is already sold on on Lancome’s website. *Sigh*
I actually got the Piha Black gloss as part of the winter LE set (with a red lipstick). I’d never wear it by itself, but layer it sheerly on top of a red lipstick and it looks really cool, even on a paleface such as myself.
Karen B says
For me not that great, but then again I’ve never found a pencil that has good staying power on my waterline…

i’ve pretty much ignored lancome my entire makeup-wearing life…just didn’t appeal to me (seemed out of my demographic-too old). So, either I’m “old” now or they really stepped it up!!! this collection is hot, and really speaking to me. I would totally get that black lipgloss! I actually have the gunmetal one from Kat Von D on my wish list at sephora. I think you are right-a darker color adds dimension. We layer lighter colored glosses all the time! and that raspberry liner looks really fun! i love the deep plum in the quad too, but don’t need a whole new quad of eyeshadow.
Steph K says
You should post a picture of you wearing the black gloss alone and with colors. I’m curious to see what it looks like!
noona says
oooooooh!
They don’t have it in Israel, I want their piha black nail polish so bad.
Emily says
On hit!! I love it and i think that possibly Piha Black gloss may look good on top of a warm, bright red lipstick like Bare Escentuals Red Zin! It would make the lips a deep, cooler toned red! I’ll have to try it!
