Ever since Sephora stopped carrying Becca, the line’s been harder to find than Kevin Federline (remember when homeboy was all over the place?!).
Wait — did I just use the words “Kevin Federline” and “Becca” in the same sentence? Wow. That’s gotta be a first. The line has absolutely nothing in common with K-Fed. It brings to mind fresh, easy makeup looks, luxurious textures and classy packaging. And that’s not classy with a “K.” 🙂
Today when I saw these promotional pictures for Halcyon Days, Becca’s new 10-piece collection for spring, my innards actually quivered! My love for warm, summery corals, pinks and bronzes runs deep, and I’ve been hoarding colors like these for years. The release, with products for eyes, cheeks, face, lips and nails, launches this spring at Henri Bendel stores and select beauty boutiques (prices range from $25-60 each).
Isn’t the name, Halcyon, an interesting word? Apparently, it’s Greek for the kingfisher bird, but I don’t think the bird, with its blue plumage, inspired the collection. The word also means idyllically calm and peaceful — fitting words to describe the colors in Halcyon Days.
Looking at these pics and the promo shot up top, it looks like the kind of wearable, easy makeup I might wear to a mellow brunch with the girls or a lazy weekend picnic in the park.
Becca Halcyon Days Collection for Spring 2011
- Beach Tint in Guava ($25) — This new entry in Becca’s line of multi-purpose, water-resistant cream stains for lips and cheeks is described as a fresh coral pink with a delicious guava scent.
- Mineral Bronzer/Illuminator in Serrana ($25) — An illuminating powder duo designed to give a warm shimmer to the skin.
- Mineral Powder Blushes in Flower Child and Halycon ($32 each) — Infused with fine particles of micro-shimmer, these two powder blushes give cheeks a subtle glow. Pinkish orange Flower Child has golden highlights, and Halcyon is a just a pretty coral.
- Automatic Eye Pencils in Goa and Majorca ($23 each) — The way Becca describes Goa, the first of these two new pencil liners, makes my tummy rumble. It’s a bronzy chocolate, and Majorca is an intense black. Both are supposed to be highly pigmented, long-wearing and waterproof. They also come with a built-in sharpener and a sponge tip for smudging.
- Nail Colours in Tangerine Dream, Dancing Barefoot and Summerdaze ($15 each) — Coral’s the name of the game with Tangerine Dream (a bright coral), Dancing Barefoot (an apricot) and Summerdaze (a pinkish coral). I can’t wait to give these a try. They’re supposed to be intensely pigmented and have a quick-drying formula and a super glossy finish. All good things. Oh, and they’re formaldehyde, toluene camphor and di butyl phthalate-free (say that five times fast, LOL!).
- Halcyon Days Palette ($65) — An exclusive to the Henri Bendel Fifth Avenue store in New York City. The luxury retailer just started carrying the line (which will soon be available at all Henri Bendel locations in the U.S.), and to celebrate, Becca created this five pan palette of lip and eye products.
With it, you get three powder shadows in light, medium and dark golden brown tones, a bright orangey red lip/cheek cream and one lipgloss for good luck. If you feel you need it now and don’t want to wait another minute (well, four days), Bendel takes credit card purchases over the phone. They’ll ship to any U.S. address for $12 (takes between five to seven business days), and will ship internationally as well, although, as you might expect, those shipping costs are higher. If you’re interested, the number to call is (212) 904-7959. Ask for Rusty (’cause Rusty rocks!).If you can wait a few more days, the palette will also be available online beginning March 14 at henribendel.com.

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to Halycon Days. What do you think? Is this your kind of look, or do you prefer flashier colors?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Lily says
Oohh lovely sweet coral, come to mama! If the tint smells like guava, i dont think i can resist
Karen says
Haha, I’m the same way for coral blushes, lip products and nail polishes! 😀
Nina says
Karen, do you kow when this collection is going to be released in the US?
Antonia at Swedish Love Affair says
Beach tint! Would love to try it=)
Karen says
It’s a great lil’ product! I love how Becca adds a unique scent to each color, too.
Bella says
Oh the blushes and tint look amazing! How do you apply Becca beach tints, are there any tricks to the application? Also, do you know the release date of these items?
Karen says
Hi Bella,
I’m still waiting to find a firm release date, but it’s safe to assume it’ll be out in the next month or so.
I usually apply the Beach Tints with my fingers to my cheeks and lips because it’s fast and easy. If I’ve got a little more time then I’ll put some on the back of my hand and then apply it to the apples of my cheeks with a synthetic brush.
Makeup Morsels says
ahh I love the dreamy feel of this collection, totally getting me in the mood for…well, actually this collection reminds me more of summer than anything else. I love the sound of those nail lacquers.
Karen says
Me too! I’m totally lusting after them.
Natalie says
Yes Halcyon is an interesting word–as a word nerd I love it! It’s kind of awesome when beauty brands don’t stick to the conventional cliches of the beauty industry!
Karen says
I like it too. Other words I enjoy: somnambulist, charlatan, flotsam and jetsam. 🙂
Tiffany says
um, I kinda want this whole collection. LOVE.
also, do you know the song Halcyon and On and On – by Orbital? one of my fave dance songs of all time EVAR!
Karen says
Haha, I had a feeling you’d be lusting after this one! Great minds think alike. 🙂
And funny that you should mention that song, because I was actually listening to it this afternoon. SPOOKY!
Tiffany says
Totally up my alley. I actually found a nearby boutique that sells becca and was planning to try to check it out this weekend. Although it sounds like they probably won’t have this stuff yet. I wanted to check out their pressed shimmer powders.
Such a pretty song, ya know? It’s been my alarm ringtone forever.
Karen says
Really pretty! I like that it also has a kind of haunting quality to it, too.
I’ve been totally stuck on Becca’s Lip/Cheek Tints, Cream Shadows and Mascara lately. Hopefully when you go they will have a good selection of products. I miss the days when Sephora carried the line, sigh!
holly says
Want. It. All.
Karen says
You and me both, girlfriend!
Tiffany says
Ooooh I have to say… judging from the promotional photograph, I’m sold on the line already. A+ marketing 😛
Karen says
I was totally hooked the second I saw the promo photo too. I love the makeup!
Vijaya says
I prefer bright colors generally, but the mineral blushes look intriguing!
Karen says
Don’t they though?
tzu says
ooo I’m really into the mineral bronzer. I’ve been looking for a good bronzer! I guess I’ll be making a trip toe Bendel this week!
Karen says
Hi Tzu,
Awesome! If you go to the Fifth Ave store say hi to Rusty for me, LOL!
Jill Ricci says
I love, love, love this beautiful summery look! So soft and sexy! Can’t wait to try it!
Karen says
I love it too. It’s simple and clean and so, so beautiful.
BeautyMaven says
HAHAHA ummm so Halcyon makes me think of that song “Halcyon On and On” from …. Mortal Kombat….. do dooooo
Karen says
LOL, yeah the one by Orbital? I’ve been listening to it all afternoon.
Shannon says
man… I think I’m in love. Those colors are exactly what I’ve been craving!!
Spring better come soon. I’m sending out some pretty strong please-be-springtime vibes. I’m sooo all about pretty dresses and light jackets and pretty pink/coral makeup right now!
Shannon says
p.s. I especially want all those nail polish colors. They’re so pretty!
Karen says
Me too! I’m dying to wear shoes that don’t oppress my feet. I need some sandals so I can rock those nail polish colors. 🙂
Rozae says
When did Becca start doing nail polish?
Karen says
As far as I know this it’s a new — and very exciting! — development. 🙂
Instant Karma (formerly L) says
Swoon, coral blushes…
I don’t need more, but I want them!
Paintthetownscarlet.wordpress.com says
Love this range – really earthy and natural.
Kim says
I think it’s super-pretty and definitely something I’d wear. They seem perfect for an everyday look, which is kind of the vibe I get from all the Becca stuff, if I remember correctly. Btw, thanks for the halcyon definition (I’m ashamed to admit that I was confusing it with the flower hyacinth). I know… duh. 🙂
Nina says
there is something very attractive to me about the becca packaging – it could be the minimalist look of it or just how elegant it all looks …. 🙂
Karen says
I love it too. It’s really clean and sophisticated.
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
I saw a small pic on Becca’s Facebook page and I HAVE to get all of it! Coral is mah thang–love it for spring and summer and all year round!
Argyro says
“In the myth of Alcyone, Halcyon Days are the seven days in winter when storms never occur.
In popular use, it can also mean to harken back to an earlier time, remembered as idyllic, whether accurately or not.” 😉
Mandy says
Love the blushes but I feel kind of concerned about the bronzer, because I am wondering if it would come out muddy looking on us fair-skinned ladies… I dig the colors but just don’t know if it’d work on me!
Hailey Bell says
I’ve just been to see these colours. The nail polishes really stand out (fresh and summery), so does the palette (which I purchased). Unfortunately the mineral blushes are not a pigmented as they look here and if you already own orgasm then you don’t need these. One of them is almost an exact dupe (without the gold highlight of orgasm though). The guava beachtint and the pencils are lovely too. Alas my budget didn’t stretch that far. I won’t comment on the bronzers as they are definitely not my thing.
Nina says
Where did you purchase everything? That sucks that the blushes aren’t pigmented. I really wanted those. I own orgasm, but to me its way to glitterey.
