Golden Lips and Golden Girls: Chanel Gold Shine and Clinique Party Red

You know how The Golden Girls is one of my favorite TV shows, right?

Well, this morning I decided to pay homage to Blanche — she’s the sassy Southern one — with a lip look using Chanel Gold Shine Glossimer and Clinique Party Red Lipstick.

The Golden Girls was an American sitcom that originally aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to May 9, 1992. Starring Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty, the show centers on four older women sharing a Miami, Florida home. The Golden Girls won several awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series. All four stars won at least one Emmy Award throughout the show’s entire run.

Of course, I *had* to name this combo “The Blanche,” after the show’s resident man magnet, Blanche Marie Elizabeth Hollingsworth Devereaux.

Actress Rue McClanahan played Blanche.

I think it’d be a good lip look for a black tie holiday party… What do you think?

That is very Blanche-y ! I love Golden Girls…the original SATC girls. My fave is Sophia with her witty lines…always cracks me up. I still watch it every sunday morning.

That lip combo looks fabulous! I’m thinking of trying something similar with the upcoming MAC collections, paring Kanga-Rouge lipstick with Snowscene lipglass. Seeing your look has made me want to definitely get both items rather than just swatch it at the store (like I normally do!).

How fun! Are you going with a date, or a group?

You’ve got a ton of options to go with your dress! You could do golds on the eye with a pink lip and cheek… that would be very festive. Or perhaps a gold with coral (although that’s a bit more of a summery look).

You could always do a bit more subtle, shimmery brown eye and then pair it with red lips, too. Right now MAC has a shimmery brown pigment that I’m loving called Cocomotion. You could do that as a wash, add a thick, black cat liner on the top lid and then wear some false lashes for some drama.

Or you could do shimmery green and gold eyes… that would be pretty too.

I just finished watching the episode where Dorothy dates Stan’s brother, ha!

I think it’s too funny that you posted this. Me and my girlfriends a few years back in our 20’s named each other the golden girls and they named me Blanche! ( gee can’t imagine why lol!) Anywho my daughter is 14 and she loves watching them too, which is hilarious because she’ll tell me about a rerun and I’ll chime in to say how it ended. I think she thought is was new. Love the bracelet, it’s fun! You did a great lippie too!
