Next month Bare Escentuals bareMinerals, a line primarily known for their mineral eyeshadows, blushes and foundations in loose form, presses further ahead into the world of pressed makeup within pans and compacts.
It begs the question: are you ready?
Last fall the line leapt into pressed powders, introducing a new family of eyeshadow duos and quads called Ready, and they’re expanding the Ready brood this spring with 13 new blushes and bronzers.
Using only natural colorants and the brand’s proprietary blend of positively-charged sea minerals, antioxidants and other ingredients known to deliver anti-aging benefits for softer, smoother skin, the Ready Blushes ($22 each) and Ready Bronzers ($24 each) might look like a powder, but they feel like a cream.
bareMinerals says they devised a way to press these products into a solid while preserving benefits normally lost through conventional methods. Using cold-pressed carrot oil for the bronzers and cold-pressed camellia flower oil for the blushes, the solids retain their shape, and the process doesn’t require other binders, fillers, parabens or harsh chemicals.
I’ve yet to really explore these new blushes and bronzers, but the blushes are supposed to swirl on softly for a naturally tinted look and build easily into a brighter flush, and the bronzers are supposed to simulate the effortless glow of an afternoon spent soaking up the sun.
Yes, please. I like. 🙂
Here’s a brief look at three of the 10 new Ready blushes and two of the three bronzers. Full reviews coming soon.

So far, so good. I haven’t spent enough time exploring these yet, but based on the time I’ve spent swatching, they seem fairly pigmented, and certainly feel soft. And I really like the finish, which is mostly matte but has a faint sheen.
Look for the new Ready blushes and bronzers this March, when they arrive at Bare Escentuals Boutiques and bareescentuals.com, and also on counters at Sephora, Sephora inside JC Penney, Ulta, Macy’s, Dillards and Nordstrom stores.
The 10-minute timer trick
Happy, happy Friday! I can taste the weekend already. 🙂
In other news, I’ve been having a hard time focusing all week long. I keep getting distracted by — everything — iTunes, Twitter, Tabs, Wikipedia, Google News, Sephora.com…
Kind of annoying, and it gets worse whenever I have a ton of stuff to do.
The only thing that’s helped at all this week has been my good ol’ digital watch timer.
I think I’ve talked about this before, but what I do is set the watch to count down from 10 minutes, and then use that time to focus on a single task. No distractions allowed.
Whether I’m cleaning the kitchen counters or sorting through my inbox, if I can intensely concentrate on one thing, even it it’s just for 10 minutes at a time, at least that’s better than nothing.
What about you? Do you have any trusted concentration tricks?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Are the bronzers matte or shimmery?
Karen says
They’re mostly matte with a tiny hint of sheen.
Emi at Project Swatch says
oh I totally feel you on the distraction, and I do the countdown timer too – though i am more of a 5-minute timer person! my problem is setting the timer in the first place! i’m like, i’ll just set it as soon as i finish reading this website, or painting my nails, or later on . . . i’m such a procratinater!

I’ve got a funny story on how I discovered the goodness of Bare Minerals. My fiance mentioned that the Bare Minerals foundations do not rub off on clothing (apparently some of my makeup had rubbed off before whenever I hugged him!). He thought the whole thing was funny, but I tried it and that stuff won’t come off until you use a makeup wipe or wash your face. And a little bit goes a long way when putting it on for the day 🙂 Liquid foundations tend to break me out, so Bare Minerals powder foundations are perfect. It is interesting to see them making packaged rather than loose products these days.
On the time management, if I’ve got something to do, I make every effort to get it done before I do the fun stuff. Your blog, Facebook, and other sites are a treat for me after I finish schoolwork, or work for work. I have kind of a guilty conscience, so if I’m surfing Facebook or blogs rather than doing what I’m supposed to do, I feel really bad. Doing work and finishing it or setting goals to finish and meeting those goals makes me feel good. If it’s a long project I’m working on, I give myself a break about 2 hours into it. These are just some of my tips to get through the not-as-fun stuff! Have a great night!

“presses further ahead…”, I love you Karen, very clever!
If these impress me as much as their pressed eyeshadows do (of which I have none, but covet many), then bare minerals may have made a convert out of me! Id long avoided the brand because, I’m a klutz with loose powder, it didn’t interest me much color wise (or packaging wise, which I know is superficial, but it does steer me towards certain brands again and again) and I’d tried the powders and thought they were overhyped. And frankly I think I was just sick of hearing about the brand, lol.
But the pressed eyeshadows seem lovely, I love the colors, the feel, and the pigmentation when I swatch them, and I’m excited to check out the new blushes ! Blush is one cosmetic item that I could actually use more of (as opposed to eyeshadows, which I saaaay I need more of but really I have a million!)

The High Dive is calling my name!
I’m getting ready to make some sugar star cookies with chocolate sprinkles. Would you and Tabs like some?
Karen says
YES!!! Please count us in as official taste testers.
I’m making dinner… veggie broccoli pasta. Ya want?

Send it! Send it! 😀

Whenever I have a hard time concentrating, I try to limit my distractions. That means putting my phone, iPod and other electronics that can be moved to my room (if I’m cleaning); if I need to do homework, I put all the electronics in the dark spot of my closet. I don’t know why, but having my electronics physically put somewhere out of reach helps me concentrate.
Sometimes, I have to indulge in the distraction, but I give myself a time limit. If I’m being distracted by television (and I especially know my show is coming on), I’ll give myself that television show. A half hour of music. I’ll give myself a time limit for everything EXCEPT READING. I prohibit reading until my chores or homework is done because I know when I read, time ceases to exist. I’ll disregard my time limit completely because I become faaaaaaaar too involved in my books. Books are like my electronics; I have to physically place them someplace else!
I wish I could use Bare Escentuals. Those look so pretty!

I’m liking their Get Ready range… much easier than loose powder… if only if they make faux tan in compact form… I would totally buy that! But these are still intriguing! Can’t wait to see them in store!

I am loving Indecent Proposal and Skinny Dip…my idea of Spring 2012 is not a bronzed skin but a glowing skin using a bronzer with some blush….wat say?

I’m actually VERY excited about these!!! I had no idea they were coming out! I fell in love with BE again when they released the READY line and I will definitely be giving these a go when they’re released.

Wow I can’t wait to try the new Bare Minerals bronzers. I have been a Bare Minerals girl from the beginning. High Dive is particularly appealing!

Need to try the 10-minute timer trick, I’m totally unfocused too. It’s been a crappy week and I couldn’t concentrate enough even to put nailpolish. Ugggh.

I’ve been looking everywhere for swatches of these, I should have known you would do it! THANK YOU KAREN!! They are so pretty, I already aquired these two bronzers and three other blushes, but have my eyes on several more, so pretty 🙂 XO (Nordstrom does have them available right now if anyone is looking!)

i love that theyre not loose! so much more convenient for me. im always on the go, so the loose is hard to apply while multitasking. yay!
