I’m all about the winged liner life…
Ya feel me?
Winged liner, also known as cat liner, is one of my favorite makeup looks (especially in a classic black).
You can wear it pretty much anywhere. Pair it with nude lips to proactively synergize your ROI at work (LOL!), or raise the roof with a bright lip and cheek for a night on the town. The possibilities are endless.
I don’t know if I could ever truly get tired of black winged/cat liner, but I don’t always do it the same way. Sometimes I like to try something a little different, like by incorporating a liner in a different color. I’ll run it along my upper lash line parallel to the liner, like I’m doing with the gold in these pics.
I like! It’s just something a little different.
I think it looks super cool when you pair a matte gel liner with something shiny, like one of MAC’s Superslick Liquid Liners. In this look here, the black gel liner is NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley, and the shimmery gold liquid liner is one of those Superslicks, MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in Pure Show.
Because they’re so different from each other, the look is pretty dramatic, but you could do a tamer version by replacing Pure Show with something else, like maybe shiny black MAC Superslick in On the Hunt, which is a combo I wear often — NARS Black Valley with MAC On the Hunt. It still has a little pizazz to it but doesn’t go over the top. Finish the ensemble with a bright, shiny hot pink lipstick and gloss.
Incorporating a second liner is a great way to transition from day to night. Say you’re at work and happen to be wearing a black winged liner and nude lips, and everyone decides to go out that night. Just grab a shiny liquid liner you like (gold or silver work great if you’re going someplace dark, like a club or bar, because you get that eye-catching metallic flash from the lights), and run it along your upper lash line. Then, swap out your nude lip color for something bold and bright.
Party time. Excellent. 🙂
And, of course, you aren’t limited to just combining gel and liquid liners. This is makeup! Try anything you like (I’ve been doing this for YEARS, and I’m constantly surprised).
Give it a try sometime, and let me know how it turns out.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love this winged eyeliner look, then lined with the gold liner. I want to try this look. I also think that this look would be nice with a bright colour liner along with the lined cat eye!

I have never seen or heard of this look but I love it! It’s different but not TOO different where it looks distracting or anything. I’ll most definitely be giving this a try this week!

I love this look with the gold! I’m going to try it some time, although half the time when I do the cat eye look it looks like a big blob in the corner of my eye. I’m working on it!
