Work was a killer today, so when quittin’ time rolled around I headed straight for Macy’s to do what I do best: window shop. I found some stuff that not only cheered me up, but also satisfied my inner chocoholic. Behold — in all their grainy Crackberry goodness — a couple snapshots of Estee Lauder’s new fall collection, delectably named Chocolate Decadence.
With lots of eyeshadows, lipsticks and glosses in colors inspired by berries, caramels and chocolate, this collection could have been by Willy Wonka. Aren’t the swirl patterns tasty?
Estee Lauder Chocolate Decadence…
Creme Caramel Shimmer Powder, ($32)
That’s the swirl powder in the picture up there. It’s a soft brown with shimmer, ala MAC Beauty Powder. It’s for use on cheeks or on your body to get a soft glow.
Signature Eyeshadow Quads in Berry Truffle and Caramel Truffle, ($35)
The eyeshadows of these two, four-color quads — Berry Truffle and Caramel Truffle — are embossed with a pretty swirl pattern. Caramel Truffle goes with the browns in a big way, but I think I’m going to pass because the colors are similar to others in my collection. Berry Truffle got my heart pumping, but not so much that it forced me to make an impulse purchase. I decided to wait.
Pure Color Swirl Glosses in Berry Swirl and Caramel Swirl, ($18)
Yummy is all I can say about these glosses. I’m like a confused makeup foodie. Both glosses have a creamy beige color swirled into a dark purple berry and caramel. Picture a rich parfait. Mmm… parfait… I was actually tempted to take a bite, no joke!
Lipsticks in Berry Swirl (limited edition), Caramel Swirl (limited edition) and Tiger Eye, ($22)
Speaking of food, Estee Lauder lipsticks usually have a distinct perfumy taste and smell. These are no exception, but I don’t mind. There’s one more lipstick in this collection that isn’t limited edition, but I couldn’t read my messy handwriting in my notebook when I got home. I think it might be called Hot Kiss? Or Hot Mess? 🙂
Eyeliners in Soft Smudge Brown and Brown Writer, ($19.50)
Both of these shades belong to EL’s permanent makeup line. Can I just say I cracked up when I saw the Brown Writer eyeliner? It’s like this shade was made for me, lol!
Nail Polishes in Satin Gold and Berry Cordial, ($18)
Gold seems to be *the* color for fall, and Satin Gold caught my eye. The glass bottle is uber cute, too. I think after my next paycheck, Satin Gold is comin’ home with mama.
For all the pretty stuff I saw, I left empty handed. I didn’t end up buying anything, but I felt a lot better after the trip. Malls soothe this savage beast.
Do you like to window shop as much as I do?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I adore window-shopping! Even when I can’t buy, I love to go look, swatch colors, sample fragrances and nab the odd sample! This confuses hubby! 🙂
Lovin’ the chocolates, I’ll have to check those out!
Karen says
Hi Iheartmakeup,
Aww, why can’t you eat chocolate, sweetie? Are you allergic?
I am a fool for pudding swirl! Yum-o indeed!
Happy early Friday!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
I think most guys view shopping as hunting. You go in, you hunt for what you need, you leave with your prey (aka socks/fishing pole/computer game). They just don’t get the whole gathering process of swatching/perfume sampling/etc., I suppose. I always end up parking El Hub on some odd bench when I go to the makeup counter. “Stay here!”
LOL, I knew your inner chocolate fiend would not be able to resist. 🙂

Hi Karen,
mmm… I love chocolate-themed make-up 🙂
When L’oréal came out with a feature add on their Color Riche chocolate coloured lipsticks a few years ago, I bought two, I’m such a sucker 😉

Hi. I may get the gloss because I can’t get over how pretty the tube looks. I keep going back to look at the photograph LOL! On the other hand, once the wand is pulled out of the tube once, the strips will be all smudged together, right? Aww…
Elena says
Hey Karen,
Regarding the lipstick name, it’s definitely “Hot Kiss”, lol! I saw that color the other day at Macy’s (not with this collection, though…I’m quite jealous!). How did you like “Tiger Eye”? (I found both of those colors gorgeous.)
Do you normally wear products from Estee Lauder? It’s one of the few brands that I’ll generally spring for when I have extra cash, cause it’s one of the few lines (both of drugstore and department store) that my skin actually likes. 😀

Hi karen! haven’t been commenting for a while haha. was pretty busy. how are you? the caramel shimmer powder look awesome!
Ditte says
Hi Karen,
I have a US drugstore make-up related question: Do you still have L’oréal glam shine cream/color juice sticks in the US?
That’s my favourite drugstore lipstick, and it has been discontinued here in Denmark 🙁
Dao says
Oh man, I’m drooling over the gloss right now. I’m wondering if moving the applicator in and out will mess up the swirling pattern or not. So drool worthy! It hits the store already? I need to go on a field trip this weekend.
Glosslizard says
Yup, that’s exactly it! Although the dear fellow did come shopping around with me for my birthday, and he was pretty impressed by my schmoozing facility and ability to quickly pinpoint what I liked and didn’t like. He said he could at least see why I found it fun, but he’d rather stay home and wait for the implementation of plan “Karen’s Man-Lounges” (patent pending)! 😉
Glosslizard says
Oh, forgot to add, chocolates and browns seem really big for the fall, and I’m really looking forward to experimenting with some of these brown-tone lippies! I think they could be really striking and beautiful!
Karen says
Hi Ditte,
Me too! I remember those Color Riche lipsticks… they did look delicious.
You know what else I like? Chocolate colored nails. They are so high maintenance, but also so pretty.
Karen says
Hi Miss QQ,
Yeah, the swirls eventually all get mixed in together. Kind of a bummer, but it’s still pretty to look at.
I didn’t know you were an EL fan. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Elena,
I really liked Tiger Eye, too. I’m gonna stew for a few weeks on this collection though. I have to save up for fall (it’s going to be a challenge to resist the rest of Chanel’s offerings) and need to wait for a bit.
I like EL lipsticks and eyeshadows. I haven’t tried their foundation (yet), but I have a girlfriend that swears by it. Which products do you like?
Karen says
Hi Ping!
I’ve missed you! Whatcha been up to, busy lady?
I like the shimmer powder, too. I have a big time weakness for powders like that, so it just might come home with me, too.
Karen says
Hi Ditte,
I’ve seen it on the L’oreal Paris USA website, but I can’t remember if I saw it at the drugstore the last time I was there. I have to go to buy some conditioner this weekend so I’ll take a closer look. 🙂
I’ve never tried them before; and the colors look pretty. What do you like best about them?
Karen says
Hi Dao!
Yup, the swirls get all mixed together eventually. It kinda sucks but what are you gonna do. I think it takes a long time though, for all the ribbons to get mixed together. I saw this at Macy’s, so check with your EL counter first to make sure it’s in!

Hi Glosslizard,
Man-boyfriend-husband-kind would be better off if those lounges were a real! We could all just stay in the makeup department for as long as our hearts desired.
I think to really take it to the next level there should also be a like, a salad bar, but without salad. Instead there’d be barbeque food, with burgers, chicken legs, potato chips, and beer. Heck, I just might end up hanging out there. 😉
I know! I don’t know if I’ve seen this much brown in makeup since the 90s. If browns and mattes come back then I’m going to have to dig out some Soundgarden and put on a plaid shirt. 🙂
Amanda says
I’m glad you were soothed by the makeup counter Karen. 🙂 The photos of the display was fun to look at, but for me I can’t really think of buying “fall” makeup-we just reached summer, LOL. also in general estee lauder is not one of the brands I’m really drawn too-I know it’s one of the first high-end brands, a true mainstay/pillar/icon, and a really nice brand, but something about it just seems like it’s for an older crowd. Plus I really dislike my makeup to smell floral. blech.
Annie says
wow I’m excited for this. Those lip glosses are calling my name. I think I can also faintly hear the eyshadow and the shimmer powder. I need to see the polishes before I think about buying them though
Glosslizard says
Oh, that’d be great! Go makeup shopping and then chill in the man-lounge with a beer and some chicken afterwards! Shopping nirvana!
I always like to go either brown or matte but not both at the same time, it just seems a little too safe somehow! Hmmm, I think I have a plaid shirt left somewhere! LOL!

Hi again Karen,
the color juice sticks are really moisturizing and a pleasure to wear – and the colors pop 🙂 They are not glam-slam matte, but somewhat sheer, though still visible and have a glossy finish. Furthermore I love their scent.
You do have to try them, if they’re still there – I blush to reveal that I’ve had more than 7 shades…
Elena says
Hey Karen,
I use their Double Matte Light Foundation in #2. It’s still a full coverage foundation, although the name suggests otherwise. I love it because it’s the only thing that will stay on my oily skin all day and not break me out. It’s also decently priced for a higher end foundation. The only downside is that all of their foundations have a (minor) orange sheen and this one is no exception. Which liquid foundations do you normally use?
