Dolce & Gabbana Evocative Collection Swatches and Pics

October 19th, 2010 by Karen 38 Comments

Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Evocative and Crayon Intense in Chocolate on my eyes; Shine Lipstick in Orchid and Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Vibrant on my lips

While I was cruising down (Saks) Fifth Avenue today, otherwise known as surfing their site (they’re having a Friends & Family Sale; I didn’t come across the new Ethereal Holiday Collection, but I did window shop almost everything from the Evocative Collection for fall.

I’m not sure how Evocative’s vampiric berries, wines and pinks go with her springy blues and that one totally random coral, but being confused has never stopped me before, ha!

I’ll just try to wrap my head around something tangible…like the ultra pigmented, creamy coral Classic Cream Lipstick in Cosmopolitan and Shine Lipstick in Orchid. They should help me focus, but if I’m still out of sorts after that, the buttery soft and sheer beige, pink, taupe and purple shadows in the quad should help.

How evocative are you finding Evocative? Do any of the colors light your fire?

Wouldn’t ya know it? I wait forever for a sale on Dolce & Gabbana, and when one comes along it’s only 10% off. The Saks Friends & Family Sale is a little weak in the beauty department. It’s only 10% off for beauty and fragrance (but 20% for almost everything else), but I guess that’s better than nada.

I’m thinking about snagging a pan of Luminous Cheek Color blush in Caramel from the permanent collection ($44). It’s a shade that makeup artist Pat McGrath calls universally flattering.

Tuesday Tuttimelon

What a long day, right? Didn’t it seem to last forever? I think it’s a taro Tuttimelon night.

You wanna come with? There’s plenty of room in the 4Runner. What’s your favorite froyo flavor, and what toppings do you want? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It’s hawt, but it’s not one of those slap-it-on-and-go colors! I do love how dark and rich it is, though.

How was your Tuesday? Good, I hope!

I have yet to try a D&G shadow, going by your description, I gotta fix that soon! The lippies all look crazy creamy and pigmented and smoooth. The polish is such a pretty color too! Feels wayy out of place with this weather, but still pretty!

    I ADORE Tuttimelon!

There’s one in my neighborhood, just a few blocks away from where I live when i’m in the bay area, and it is SUCH a temptation.

I always get the original tart with yogurt chips and sometimes raspberries. YUMYUM!

      Hi Michaela,

Tuttimelon is way addictive. The one by my house is a five minute car drive. It’s DANGEROUS! If I don’t regulate myself I’d be there every day.

Is the one you go to a self-serve joint?

Okay, but on a more serious note, Amythest and Lust look *exactly* like I want to be wearing. Right about NAO. (Five minutes in the past would work for me, too.) My god; those are some serious fall lipsticks. They look amazing!

      Hi Rae,

The darker shades are so very fall! It’s kinda funny to me that they threw in the pop of coral, but hey, I’m not gonna complain. 🙂

Wow – Amethyst and Lust are amazing. Not on me, of course, but they look fab on you! I also love the Ocean duo, but just to look at, not to wear. I know, I’m no fun. 🙂

PS Holy eyeshadow disaster with the Lorac Private Affair pallette on Friday night. I was completely unprepared for the intensity of the pigment and spent a lot of time with a Q-tip, scrubbing it off. I’ve learned that when I have 5 minutes to get out the door, it’s not the ideal time to start experimenting!

      Hi Kim,

Oh no! Did you manage to pull off a cute look, at least?

Q-tips are good to have around to mellow out color, for sure. Flat cotton pads and a clean blending brush (one with a domed tip) can be helpful too.

Um, define cute. HAHAHAHA! Sorry, I’m just kidding. It ended up being fine – I just had to remove the worst of the disaster and tone it down with the beige color (and blend, blend, blend). The lighting at the party was fairly bad, so 2 minutes was all it took to make it passable. Plus, it was a downpour that night so no one was looking their finest. I took one look at the pallette this AM, though, and thought “maybe not today”. I’ll invest some time this weekend. Honest. 🙂

This is fascinating to me. I remember how much I wanted both the matching Amethyst lipstick and glosses, since they were apparently what was used to create that gorgeous Scarlett Johannssen D&G promo pic for this collection. From the pic, it looked like they were supposed to be this insane shade of purple but here, they look more red!

Thanks for the swatches! False advertising from D&G or not, they look great on you!

      Hi Heather,

Thanks! Hmm, they may have layered the shades with pencils or other lippies. Plus, lipsticks and glosses can look so different on different skin tones. Do you live near a D&G counter? You might want to try the color anyway, ’cause you never know if you’ll fall in love. 🙂

I think this is my opportunity to at least buy one D&G product. I’m deciding between the lipsticks: Orchid vs. Amethyst. I’m a NC42 so what are your thoughts? I’ll need to check out that Caramel blush. I am skeptical when someone claims universal appeal on just one color. But I love Pat McGrath and I LOVE Caramel.

Have you had a chance to play with the eyeshadows yet? I saw really bad reviews of Divine and Evocative so I’m unsure whether they’re worth a drive into the city to Sak’s.

The lipsticks are gorgeous, though! Those alone may be worth the drive in!
