What up, buttercup? How was hump day? Mine was pretty peachy, thank you very much, and I owe it all to Dior Endless Shine.
We spent the afternoon together, you know, just frolicking like cherubs with cameras. Turns out the holiday quint, one of two in Dior’s Holiday 2010 Collection, is quite the budding photographer.
“Karen,” it cooed, gently petting the peach shade in the upper right corner, “look at me.”
“Huh?”
“Now look away!”
“Wha?”
“Now look at me. LOOK AT ME!”
“Are you sure?”
“LOOK AT ME!”
“Okay, okay, I’m looking!”
“Yes! Like that. Look, LOOK!”
“I’m looking, dude. Are you okay?”
“Now look away!”
Dior 5-Colour Iridescent Eyeshadow Quint in Endless Shine #529, $58
Hmm, is it bad when you hear voices coming from eyeshadow palettes?
I hope not. 🙂
With the peach shade demanding so much of my attention today, it only seemed right to build a look around it, so I picked out some complementary bits o’ holiday makeup from Chanel, NARS, MAC and Dolce & Gabbana and put together this here face of the day.
Clockwise from lower right: Dior 5-Colour Iridescent in Endless Shine #529 ($58), Chanel Rouge Coco in Patchouli, Chanel Glossimer in Pleasing, NARS Blush in Sex Appeal, Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense in 12, Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense in 10, MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush
That’s Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense in 10 and 12 and Dior 5-Colour Iridescent in Endless Shine #529 on my eyes, NARS Blush in Sex Appeal on my cheeks, and Chanel Glossimer in Pleasing atop Chanel Rouge Coco in Patchouli on my lips.
Swatches from left: Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense in 12, Dolce & Gabbana Crayon Intense in 10, Dior 5-Colour Iridescent in Endless Shine #529
What do ya think? Are the eyes too frosty? They’re smokey but not loud. Now I just wish I had somewhere to go.
Hmm, Tuttimelon is open till 11…
NARS Blush in Sex Appeal, MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush, Chanel Rouge Coco in Patchouli, Chanel Glossimer in Pleasing
Oh, about NARS Sex Appeal Blush, the color looks light on my cheeks right after it’s applied, but it appears to darken over time. Kinda weird. Just something to keep in mind.

Another Guilty Pleasure
Ooh! I’ve been dying to tell you about my new book. It’s called Vanished, by Meg Cabot. She’s written a bunch of teen fiction (The Princess Diaries comes to mind).
I have NOT been able to put it down since Sunday. It’s about a girl who gets struck by lightning and develops a limited clairvoyance where she’s able to track down missing kids. When I read “struck by lightning” on the book jacket, I didn’t know what to expect. When people get struck by lightning on Days of Our Lives (sometimes repeatedly), it usually equals cheese, but here it’s actually good.
I like that Meg doesn’t spoon feed everything. It’s pretty well written for a teen book, and the main character doesn’t take crap from anybody. It’s not as heavy as The Hunger Games, which I loved, but I can only take so much teenage gladiator drama, you know?
Anywho, hope your Wednesday went well (w-w-w). It’s Tuttimelon time! I’ll be right back.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Woo Tuttimelon! You look gorge 🙂 I’m really considering picking up this palette…it’s sooo pretty!
Rae says
Hmm. So here’s a question for you: if it loves cats, talks to eyeshadow quads, and looks glamorous 24/7… what is it? (Hint: it rhymes with “a yeauty yogger”)
In other words, I totally love this look 😛 And oh, if only Hush swatched that prettily on my skintone!
P.S. What *is* this Tuttimelon thing you all keep mentioning? Am I out of the loop because I’m a Canuck, or am I just out of the loop in general?
Kate & Zena says
It’s apparently a frozen yogurt place around San Francisco. Trust me, I’m not a “Canuck” (I had to Google that word too….I know zero slang, I swear) and I didn’t know what or who it was until I Googled it. Behold the power of Google.
makeup morsels says
hahaha Tuttimelon is a funny word…I’m easily amused. And like Rae, I have no idea what it is. The peach from that Dior quint is such a pretty color, so shiny! p.s. I love your necklace. Hope you’re having a good week!
Amber says
That last picture of you is so amazing!
Lauren says
The patchouli shade is killing me! Your fotd’s have been really pretty lately as well (Though they were pretty before)
Radhika says
The Dior shadows I will check at the counter..they seemed frosty though they do look good on your eyes. The Chanel holiday stuff reached counters last week here – bought Splash – wanted to get the gloss too but didn’t ..
Nikolas says
I TOTALLY need that quint!!! It’s sooooo gorgeous<333333
Olga says
Your conversation with the palette reminded me of that Old Spice commercial: “Look at your man. Now back to me. Now back at your man. Now back to me!” 🙂
Amazing look, Karen!
Advah says
That palette is gorgeous, I think this whole look might be one of my MBB favourites! It’s super flattering but discreet yet stays away from the ‘old lady’ colours.
I want that palette – if only it weren’t for the facts it’s KINDA expensive, and those colours tend to wash me out…
gio says
You look gorgeous! Love the necklace as well.
Ithfifi says
Loving the look, you look stunning! The dior palette is calling me…
Have a fabulous thursday!
Mel says

Tiffany says

Stavroula Plag says
Beautiful colors, I like how you used them! 🙂 Your necklace looks lovely too! 🙂
Nina says

snoopysteph says
Pretty, pretty Karen! The Dior quint is pretty but I wonder if it’s a wee bit too warm for us pasty girls. Definitely will have to check it out in person.
I’ve yet to figure out how to master using cream color bases! I have pearl and I never know what exactly I”m supposed to do with it.
Appu says
Ooh, loving the pleasing glossimer!! I love the e/s shades, but I kinda feel they’ll look a lot frosty on me 🙁 Looks great on you though! 🙂
lexi says
http://www.GOR.GE.OUS.com!!!! hahahahahahah
I think there’s a Tuttimelon on West Portal. I should go there more often!
UGH Dior palette, how I love you so!!!!
Trisha says
I just love Meg Cabot. I’ve read so many of her books (but not Vanished, so thanks for the recommendation!). You should try the Boy series, which is for adults. It’s like the Princess Diaries because it’s a bunch of emails and IM messages. Start with “The Boy Next Door”. You’ll love it.
Kim says
Did I diss the D&G Holiday collection for being too “springy”? Was that me? OK, I’m taking it back. It’s shimmery and delightful. It definitely says “holiday party” to me now. 🙂
On the book front, I’ve begun reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. Much unlike Victoria Hislop’s The Island (which was killing me with boredom), this one is a winner so far. It’s a bit of a different take on vampires and I think you’ll like it too. I’ll keep you posted!!
Tracy says
Love the pinky peach flecks in the shadows. Looks loverly on you. By the by–where’d you get the necklace? It’s beautiful!
trystan says
OMG!
I totally read that series in middle school. I also could not put it down. Meg Cabot was my chicklit hero. you should also check out the mediator. its soooooo good. completely addicting.
Andreea says
Another DIOR Quad that looks pretty hot. On you 🙂 I think I should mention that your pics are great. I mean technically – because YOU look good anyway; I think it is rather complicated with the light and I do not like to photoshop them. My readers ask for more pics, but then I see yours… and I send them over to you. I am doing a poor job with my small cam and I think a n Apple would not be that bad to have, either.
I am reading Harry Potter – it’s never too late…
