Whoa, what’s this? A holiday collection that actually looks like a holiday collection?!?
Get out!
Dior decided not to break with tradition while they broke away from the pack with a classic holiday color palette in shades of gold, black, gray and pink. They must have figured they’d leave the springy holiday stuff to their luxury counterparts (Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana) this time around.
Good call. 🙂
Four of the nine items in the collection (available now in stores) are palettes. Palettes have been playing a big role this season, and it looks like they also were over at Dior HQ.
Here’s a quick look at both of the eyeshadow quints and a pricing/availability breakdown of everything in the release:

Detailed reviews and FOTDs coming soon, but what’s your take on the overall color palette? Do you like that Dior decided to go a traditional route?

HanaBerlin says
Oh La La I like me some DIOR!
Karen says
Me too! Do you have a favorite quint?
Rae says
They look quite pretty — but also a little sheer, if I’m not mistaken? I always worry about the quality of holiday collections; it seems like a lot of companies (especially Dior) are willing to sacrifice texture and pigmentation for cute packaging! 🙁
Karen says
Yeah, they’re a little sheer. You’ll have to layer these beneath a pencil/cream shadow or apply ’em wet for some real ka-POW!
Amber says
Oh mama, Endless Shine is nice! But my neutral heart belongs to the Naked palette.
Me + Naked = 4eva!
Karen says
You’re so cute. I would not be surprised if an Urban Decay enthusiast has already carved that into a tree!
Brooke says
Endless Shine is gorgeous!! I’d love to get my hands on it!
Karen says
It’s a very pretty neutral palette, albeit a bit sheer!
Are you already a Dior fan?
Appu says
I like Five Golds! 🙂 The color combos are great 🙂
Karen says
In general I’m really enjoying the wearable color stories that have been rolling out for holiday! 🙂
Alex says
I really wanted to love Five Golds, but the colors just look too sheer for me. Oh well, I guess I’ve saved myself $60.
Karen says
Hi Alex,
You’re right — they’re quite sheer. I’m guessing they were trying to play with transparency…
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
I absolutely like the traditional colors for Holiday, not sure of the pigmentation on these quints though. I picked up the smaller LE Holiday Eye Palette–3 shadows and a highlighter in a red quilted palette–the shadows are much more pigmented.
Karen says
Hi Cindy,
The packaging on that palette is really beautiful! Glad to hear the shadows are more pigmented… it gives the ladies who love rich color some good options. 🙂
Kimberly says
Ooo! Me likey! Especially the Five Golds palette. To me, no one does color quite like Dior, and I love that the kept it traditional. Why mess with a good thing?! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kimberly,
I love what they do with the quints, especially!
What are your favorite things from the line?
mint says
gorgeous!! the colours don’t have as much contrast against each other as much as some palettes I’ve seen. but I think these look much better!
Karen says
Hi Mint,
That’s true. Still, I think these will speak to the girls who have a soft spot for neutrals!
Hollie says
Wanting Five Golds! Gorgeous.
Karen says
Yay! That one’s really pretty!
Khuzzy says
I don’t think they are yet available in UK but generally I find with Dior that the packaging looks tastier than the eyeshadows on your eyelid! But I can’t wait to have a look at em. 😀
Karen says
Hi Khuzzy,
Let me know where/when you find ’em in your neck of the woods. I know there are a few UK readers here who’d be interested! 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Paris B says
I love the look of Five Golds in the pan but I can tell its too warm for me so I’ll have to pass. Endless Shine looks erm… shiny hehe… Still they are Dior and I love Dior 🙂
Karen says
LOL, it certainly has the metallic action going on!
gio says
I like that Dior decided to go down the traditional holiday route, but I wish the colors were more pigmented. I would have liked the palettes more then.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Yeah, I hear ya. I think for the ladies who love sheerer shadows these will probably be a dream come true!
DonnaN says
I do love Dior, but almost all the colors are DUPS for what I have in my MAC Pro-palettes. I would have to pass, but applaude the effort to go TRADITIONAL.
Karen says
Hi DonnaN,
It’s kinda nice to see somebody do something that’s actually holiday, right?
Nina says
Ohhhhh pretty!!! I <3 both of the quints. So lush and luxe and luscious!
Karen says
Hi Nina,
One thing Dior does exceptionally well is LUXE! 😀 These will make you feel like a million bucks.
Tiffany H says
Gorgeous colors! I may have to add this to my list!
Karen says
Hi Tiffany H,
If you end up snagging this let me know! I’d love to hear what looks you do with it. 🙂
Kim says
Ooooh, yes! Now THAT says holiday to me! 🙂 Of course, I’m a sucker for the sparkle.
Karen says
Me too! Show me something shiny and I’m like, “OOOH!!”
Kim says
I hear you! We’re like crows or raccoons. 🙂
beautylogicblog says
I’m actually loving Endless shine 529. Looks gorgeous! I think I do already have those colors in my various palettes though.
Karen says
Endless Shine would look really pretty with your skin! I can totally see you doing a smokey eye.
anamika says
i loved ittttt!!!
Karen says
Hi Anamika,
Do you think you might pick one of these up?
Amanda says
Love that they went traditional! I’ve been wanting a dior quint for ages, and could never decide which one. Five golds might be *the one*!
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
HOT! I love that Five Golds might be your gateway Dior palette!
Tracy says
I’m with Amanda-Five Golds will be my second Dior palette! Thanks for showing them!
Karen says
Yay! I’m so glad you like it!
amy says
The Endless Shine quint is very pretty!
Lauren says
That $80 price tag breaks my heart, the 5 golds is just a tease! D:<
a.b.l. says
Love that 5 golds. The colors do look sheer, but I’ve always loved the consistency of Dior shadows. I’m sure a little layering is in order to make the colors pop!
Ellen Lange says
I just received my first 5-color palette for my birthday and the texture is AMAZINGGGG! Super soft, super easy to blend, just plain awesome. Endless Shine is catching my eye….
Instant Karma (formerly L) says
Oh my God, those palettes are gorgeous! I may have to check them out (thus far, I’ve only purchased Dior lip products).
Chelsea says
I just discovered Dior quints being a Chanel girl. 5 golds was one of the 1st 3 I purchased and it may be my favorite. Perhaps because I’m new to Dior I’m not disappointed by sheerness, but honestly comparing to the 2 others I got (Incognito & Nude Pink) I don’t find it overly sheer in the least. The colors are gorgeous and the texture divine!! I’m so glad I have it!!!
