Happy Earth Day, ya’ll! Guess what happened to your friendly neighborhood beauty addict at 2:00 am this morning? I got up because the neighbor’s cat was meowing at the door (why do they always want to party at the most inopportune times? Sucks!), drank a glass of water, and then realized that today is Earth Day. That got me thinking about Earth Day-esque things like composting, Toyota Priuses and low-flow shower heads, and from there my brain made the leap to earthy Dior eyeshadows.
Eventually, I fell back to sleep. Later in the morning (after taking out the recycling), I whipped up this list of Earth-Day inspired green and brown eye colors from the Dior makeup line…
Earth Reflection 609 ($54) – A palette with gold, bronze, golden pink, dark brown, and golden pearl shadows that I’d wear for daytime looks.
Tropical Light 409 ($54) – I got all swoony when I saw the light green shade in this palette. I also dig the bronze, pink pearl, silver taupe and pearl shades, too.
Spring Bouquet 470 ($54) – Ohhh this palette, with mauve rose sheen, light taupe sheen, shimmering pearl, soft pink sheen, and shimmering silvery bronze colors, itches my pink scratch!
Sunset Cafe 440 ($54) – Do I need any more neutrals? Probably not. But dangit, this is pretty!
Detective Chic Eye Palette ($49.50) – How cute is the packaging on this limited edition palette! The green and the plum shades look really yummy.
Dior 2 Colour Eyeshadow ($33) – While my mind keeps telling me I probably couldn’t pull off Diorlagoon 325, my green eyeshadow lovin’ heart keeps telling me YES!
Dior 1 Colour Eyeshadow ($24.50) – These shadows come in shimmer, pearl and matte finishes. Gotta say the name “575 Spicy Brown” cracks me up. I kind of want it to be my street name…
Dior Eye Show ($30) – I can’t wait to try these cream eye shadows, which I think will be perfect for summer looks. They have a shimmery finish and are waterproof, too!
Do you own any of these Dior eyeshadows? Which one should I “research” first? 😉
Happy Tuesday, lovely ladies! It’s hella cold here in Marin County, California today. Can you please send some sunshine my way? I’d really appreciate it.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hey Karen,
Wow thats a lot of Dior! I love spring bouquet! I never ever look at dior but I may have a little wander over when im in work on thursday now! There was a feature on one of our morning TV programmes over here this morning on all the top beauty products as rated by industry insiders and they came up with a dior mascara so im going to have a look at that too!
I was in work today and sold an Astral and thought of you haha! Have you tried number 11 scinillance btw?? Its gorgeous probably my all time fave of that whole line and it will go great with your current Gold themed week haha!!
Anna says
Hi Karen,
Girl, you have got to stop dangglin that Dior loot in my face !! Those colours are soo pretty…..I’m lovin the neutral palette and the eye shows !!
Hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight ! Cant be doing with bags under the eyes, only the type on the arm thanks you very much !!
Karen says
Hi Holly,
I love Spring Bouquet too! The shades totally look like colors I’d wear every day. The eyeshadows are super pretty so I hope you check ’em out. BTW, I used to swear by DiorShow mascara a few years ago. I still like it but I just haven’t gotten around to buying it again. There’s one that I’ve been wanting to try called “DiorShow Blackout.” I wonder if that was the one they talked about on the show you saw.
Yay, Astral! If you lived closer then I’d totally be at your counter buying stuff like every other week, ha ha ha! I have never tried 11 scinillance. Since it’s your favorite I will have to go and check it out now!
How has your day been so far?
Karen says
Hi Anna,
LOL, oops! 😉 I try to not fall in love with eyeshadows (major makeup obsession) but I can’t help it, girlfriend! I am dying to try the Eye Shows. I bet they would be pretty layered underneath other shades.
I am really hoping to get a good night’s sleep too, as the bag as looking pretty blah (thank goodness for Dior concealer, though.)
Hope you’re having a good one! Anything exciting going on with you this week?
TUPRNUT says
Ooo.. Spring Bouquet – I want you! I wish we had a Dior counter somewhere around because I’ve been drooling at these over at Sephora.com for some time now. I “visited” the Chanel quads today(I visit frequently but never buy)… I can never find one that I absolutely love and for the moolah these cost, I better love each one, you know?
But, the Dior Spring Bouquet – I love them all. I may have to save up some pennies and order this one!
Laura says
Hi Karen,
That’s a cute notebook. Where did you get it from?
Holly says
Hi Karen,
I sooo wish you and Glosslizard lived close to my counter I would be making some serious comission from you two!! And I just know I would be able to persuade you to buy a sublimage eye!! haha!
It may have been that Mascara, once I heard Dior i kinda shut off as ive only ever tried one of their mascaras and didnt really rate it too highly it was a gift from a friend who is a total Dior girl but I am back to my good old Chanel Inimitable now!
You have to try scintillance its much thicker than Astral and more shimmery than glittery which much more colour! You have to try it on because it looks totally different on than in the tube, much more gold!
My day has been LONG haha! I was at work at 9AM and it is now 2.15 AM here and I am still working on an essay to be handed in tomorrow 🙁 in 3300 words down and the word limit is 5000 so I still have a long night ahead of me too 🙁 I so cant wait to graduate!!
Lena says
I think you should try the Eye Shows first, they’ve got some pretty greens (potentially make interesting eyeliners too) AND waterproof??
Karen says
Hi Tuprnut,
I like Spring Bouquet, too! I will have to “visit” a few times before I decide which Dior palette is next up for adoption. 🙂
Which Chanel quad did you play with? The summer one? I hope you got to check out the eyeshadow singles…
Karen says
Hi Laura,
I got it at Target (Tar-ghay!) this past weekend. It’s by greenroom eco and it’s made from recycled paper. It was about $3. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Holly,
The funny thing is you probably wouldn’t have to try too hard with the Sublimage Eye…I am very easy prey, ha ha ha! I sure am getting a ton of mileage out of that frickin’ sample, let me tell you. When it’s gone that’s going to be one sad day for me.
Okay, so if I get all of my tasks done this week and I get my Chanel prizes I will check out Scintillance while I’m at the counter. It sounds very pretty and as you know I’m a huge fan of Chanel glitter (it’s tasteful glitter!).
Girl, you can do it! Drink another cup of coffee and knock the rest of that essay out! There’s nothing like a deadline to light the fire. I can’t wait for you to graduate, too! I can just imagine the wonderful makeup ways you can reward yourself with for that huge accomplishment. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Lena,
I know! Waterproof is super intriguing! I wanna see if it’ll hold up to a day of surfing (or perhaps a few episodes of Animal Cops on Animal Planet… dang that show always makes me cry). That will the the ultimate test.
Laura says
Hi again.
Have you ever thought about doing a blog entry of your makeup stash? For some odd reason, I love looking at other people’s collection. I’m curious to see what you have and I’m sure your other readers are wanting to know as well =)
Glosslizard says
I really wanna see you rock that Queen of Green!
I really wanna see ME rock that Queen of Green! 😛
Karen says
Hi Laura,
I’ve thought about it, and might do it in the future. To tell you the truth I have makeup spread out all over the house (some in the car, even… shoot, some at my parents’ house, too!) and I don’t know if I could ever corral it into one space. Plus if I saw it all together I might give myself a heart attack! Does one girl actually need all those eyeshadows? Aye!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Isn’t that AWESOME? This shadow in the pot obsession has taken on a life of its own! I bet it’s oh so pretty and sparkly in real life… *drools*
I wanna see it on your lids along with some long lashes (fake or real, totes up to you)!

Dior Pop Aquadelic Eyeshow makes a great base for M.A.C Parrot!!! I <3 it!

There is something about those pots! The payoff and texture tend to be so nice, and then they’re so long-lasting! I’m gonna have to get an entire new storage system just for my li’l pot eyeshadows!
Dao says
Detective Chic palette looks really yummy! Unfortunately they don’t sell Dior in my town so I have no idea about the brand.
Megan says
So Karen I’ve been SOOOOOOOO good on my makeup lockdown. I think it’s been over three weeks since I bought anything! Girl between you and the Ulta sale ad (with a coupon and 5x bonus points) I’m so tempted to go wild. These are gorgeous…and I have the feeling I may head to Dior someday soon to pick one up, but Clinique is coming first… I’m getting low on MoistureSurge…and I know that once I’m there I’m picking up a few things… LOL
Karen says
Hi Iheartmakeup,
Okay girl, that’s all it took. SOLD! 😉
Karen says
Hi Msnotty,
Thanks! Are you a big Dior fan, too?
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
I keep them all in a three drawer plastic organizer thingy I bought from Joanne’s! I group the pots them by brand and then store them upside down so I can easily read the labels on the bottom. It works pretty well, except once I pulled out my Paint Pots drawer too quickly and they scattered all over the bedroom floor, boo hoo!
Karen says
Hi Dao,
Oh no! Do you have a Nordies or a Sephora nearby? Honestly, they’re worth the trip!
Karen says
Hi Megan,
I’m getting low on Moisture On Line, what a coincidence!
I think you should go and “visit” but don’t go crazy quite yet. Once you have enough for your vacation maybe then go searching for makeup to take along with you!
Makeup Lockdown!!!
Megan says
K…I already have enough for my vacation…but I am doing a few other things over the summer and I just don’t want to spend my entire savings 🙂 I’m going to Nashville in June to visit some friends from school, and I’m teetering on buying a new laptop. And I’m also jonesing for a shopping trip in NYC…which may come up soon. I was just spending a lot on makeup and knew if I didn’t take a break I would end up doing just that by the time the fall rolls around. 🙂
Glosslizard says
I’m totally going to need one of those! First my burgeoning paint pot collection, then Shiseido, now Dior!
Hope your paint pots are ok! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Megan,
NICE! You’ll have to take lots of great pics when you go.:)
I want a new laptop, too… the MAC Book Air, to be exact *drools*. I think I have to go on makeup lockdown soon. I really need new pants (AGH!) and a pair of Adidas Shelltoes.
Isn’t NYC shopping the best? I love the vibrancy and the energy of the city.
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Those plastic thingys are great! While not exactly cute, it does the job… I like that the drawers are extra loooong, which gives me more room for those lovely glass pots.
Yeah, they were fine! They just ended up rolling all over the place. I managed to corral them!
Megan says
NYC is definitely fun – regardless of shopping! I haven’t been since November…so I’m definitely thinking I’ll go soon. I love that’s it’s not that far away.
Karen says
Hi Megan,
You’re so lucky that it’s close to you. I’ve only been once but remember the shopping being most excellent!
I bet it’s nice as the weather warms up… when I visited it was in November, and I remember the distinct feeling of the bones in my bum being REALLY COLD. I am so not an east-coaster!
Amy Lyn says
I have the Earth Reflection 609 and I a-Dior it! I went through looking at all the colors at Sephora one afternoon for a palette that had these colors in them because I didn’t want to plunk down the $55, but there were no other palettes in the store that had the richness and lightness of these colors with the smooth texture that this set has. With some eyeshadows you have to wet them or use a lot to get the depth of product, but you just don’t need to with this set, making it worth the cost. I am sure I will have this for a long time.
I was just googling to see if the Dior site or somewhere else had some application suggestions with this set, but no luck. I can’t even find it listed on Dior.com unless I am looking in the wrong place.
