dior cristal collection electric lights palette

‘Sup, pretties! Here’s a peek at three products from Dior’s upcoming Cristal Collection, which arrives at Dior counters in May — Electric Lights eyeshadow palette ($56), Coral Riviera blush ($42) and Addict High Shine lipstick in Artist Pink ($26).

These blues, corals and pinks get me so excited that my mind feels like it’s going a zillion miles a minute. I have no choice but to spew with a list!

  • The Electric Lights eyeshadow palette is giving me hella good MAC Cool Heat flashbacks. The shimmery purplish blue shadow in center? Instant love!
  • Coral Rivera blush, a shimmery gold coral, is already available for purchase on the Nordstrom website. It bears a striking resemblance to one of my favorite Nars blushes, Torrid.
  • Right after I applied Artist Pink lipstick on my lips I did a little jig in my living room, fo’ reals! It has the cutest tiny flecks of pink and gold glitter.

This Dior-inspired conniption may cause me to spontaneously combust in front of my computer! If that happens, please remember that I loved you all as much as I loved concealer.

What do you think of these colors for summer? Yes, no, maybe so?

gosh, these are gorgeous! too bad they’re gonna end up costing a little fortune when they’ll finally be up for sale in Europe :(

  2. 2. Bj said, on March 20th, 2009:

Okay WOW, im practically druling at these. They look so fab! Ive been wanting a blue palette really bad, and this looks fabulous! and the blush, oh the blush, i die

  3. 3. tali said, on March 20th, 2009:

Ohh ouch my wallet hurts looking at the riviera blush (and the word riviera makes me think of home so i automatically want to buy it) lol

I like the shadows but i know myself.. i tend to use warm hues and only bright liners very sparingly. Id never use it but i would look at it

  4. 4. Heidi said, on March 20th, 2009:

The shadows are pretty without being scary 80’s blue. Today, I went to costco with my mom and found a pot of MAC eyeshadow for FIVE BUCKS!!! The shade is called ‘newly minted’ and is a matte green/turquoise. I’m taking risks with my makeup now. :)

I’ll just wait a bit and if I still like them then…

I’ve been dying to get my paws on this collection too! I can’t decide if I want Coral Riviera or Rose Brazilia – have you see the rose one? I like Torrid so I reckon I’d like Coral Riviera. Any thoughts Karen?

im normally not a fan of blues (i just cant seem to rock it like i see other girls!) but the palette looks gorgeous!

  14. 14. Kailey said, on March 20th, 2009:

I love the lip color and blush! If only I could wear blues like that :( . I can’t work them at all haha. Occasionally a navy liner or deep navy shadow in my crease(to make my eyes seem bigger/deeper) works but nothing beyond that. I stick to good ole warm colors.

  15. 15. Michelle said, on March 20th, 2009:

    Wow love the blush.

That purple, I gotta have it! So pretty. I’ve never bought any Dior makeup before, only stole from my mom when she bought a few stuff aeons ago.

  18. 18. Nadrah said, on March 21st, 2009:

These products are gorgeous!!! Why do they have to be so expensive? I’m drooling all over the palette and blush. thanks for the swatches :)

  19. 19. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Nadrah,

Dior shadows are an arm and a leg but totally worth the splurge. The pigmentation is fab and you really do get a lot of product for the price. :)

  20. 20. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Fie,

The purple shade will take your breath way when you see it in person. Ha, if my mom bought Dior I’d probably steal it too. Oh wait — she does wear Dior Poison and I’m guilty of borrowing a spritz or two!

  21. 21. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Catherine,

It’s a really gorgeous pink. I think you could wear it easily!

Hope you’re having a nice Saturday so far.

  22. 22. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Michelle,

Me too! It just about killed me to dig into it. I could have just kept it on my desk and stared at it for a few years, ha!

  23. 23. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Kailey,

Hmm, have you tried mixing blues with warmer browns? You might be able to work it if you lay down something like MAC Soft Brown on your lid or crease and then blend in the blues. :)

  24. 24. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Rasilla,

    It’s a really pretty palette!

I didn’t like to wear blues until recently. I’ve found that mixing them with warm browns (MAC Saddle, Soft Brown, Brown Script) makes them more wearable.

  25. 25. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Mishel,

I know, right?! I seriously did a dance of joy when I opened up that palette.

  26. 26. tanya said, on March 21st, 2009:

YESSSSS I adore all Dior products, and I can’t wait to try that lip color for myself! I also have the quad (but in the midnight colors) which I LOVE…this summer one may be a tad too bright for me but who knows…I’m easily swayed especially when I’m at the counter :-) Thanks for the post, Karen!!

  27. 27. jane said, on March 21st, 2009:

the quad looks so pretty.. but most of the colors are too pale for me T_T that lipstick is very tempting though…

  28. 28. Elissa said, on March 21st, 2009:

I’ll pass, but I’m interested in seeing a FOTD with these on you.

  29. 29. nikki said, on March 21st, 2009:

I am almost exclusively a MAC girl….but this collection has my name ALL OVER IT!!!!!!! I need it NOW!!!!

  30. 30. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Cish,

They are really pretty. How much do the palettes go for out your way?

  31. 31. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi BJ,

I went nuts when I saw the blush, too. The pattern is so pretty! It broke my heart to dig into it.

Have you ever tried NARS Torrid? It’s kinda similar.

  32. 32. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Tali,

LOL, I’m the same way about makeup names. Like, if the name of a lipstick or eyeshadow something makes me laugh or reminds me of San Francisco I will probably want to buy it!

  33. 33. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Heidi,

Oh yah, I like that one. It’s from last year’s Matte2 release. :) Wow, you really can’t beat $5 MAC eyeshadow!

That’s great that you’re taking more risks with your makeup! I bet it would look really pretty on the lid…

  34. 34. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Christina,

I love it too! Then again, pink lipstick is usually a no brainer for me, LOL!

  35. 35. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Molly,

It nearly broke my heart to ruin the pattern on the blush, sigh!

The deep indigo shade is definitely one of those stop-you-in-your-tracks colors. :)

  36. 36. Faye said, on March 21st, 2009:

Oh boy, that eye shadow palette is just too gorgeous to pass up. Despite the fact that I have a ton of blues already, and a ton of Dior quints. Oh well. I bow gracefully to my own powerlessness :) .

What’s the shade in the middle like, Karen? Is it a very matte blue?

  37. 37. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    HI Vampy Varnish,

You could so rock that color in a hot second!

  38. 38. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Arianne,

Benefit makes a loose shadow called Punk Royalty that is similar — it’s a touch more on the purple side and has tiny flecks.

  39. 39. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Liz,

They’ll be on counter this May. You can order the blush online right now, though.

  40. 40. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Karen B.,

I thought of you when I saw these colors. I’m thinking they’d go *great* with your MAC Bell Bottom Blue pigment.

  41. 41. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi ParisB,

I haven’t seen Rose Brazilia yet. As for Torrid and Coral Riviera, Torrid is more of a red-coral, while Coral Riviera is more of a peachy coral. The gold in Coral Riviera is more a shimmer, while in Torrid it comes through as small glitter flecks. For a brighter cheek, I’d go with Torrid, but for more of a shimmery glow I’d go with Coral Riviera. Lemme know if you have any more questions… I hope this helps!

  42. 42. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Tanya,

You’re welcome! If the colors in this one seem too bright you could just always keep it on the lid for a controlled pop o’ color.

Isn’t Dior the best? I took out my Dior concealer this morning (it’s been a minute since I’ve used it) and maaaan it’s good stuff.

  43. 43. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Jane,

The lipstick is great! It might be pretty for an everyday look. :)

  44. 44. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Elissa,

When I get home from the gym tonight I hope to get some play time in with these colors. :) Will whip up something soon!

  45. 45. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Nikki,

You are too cute! If you love MAC then I think you’ll also dig Dior’s shadows. They perform just as well!

  46. 46. Karen said, on March 21st, 2009:

    Hi Faye,

LOL! I feel that way every single time I head to the makeup counter. :)

The middle shade is very shimmery, but more of a pearl rather than frost!

  47. 47. Justine said, on March 21st, 2009:

Electric Lights is officially going to be mine! I am loving Dior’s quints (still) and wanted to try blues since I didn’t buy the Twilight quint…
