Chanel Summer 2009 Cote D’Azur: 3 Ways to Wear Tangerine Dream Aqualumiere Gloss
Sat, 03/14/2009 by Karen | Posted in: Makeup, Makeup Tips/How To

When I checked out the Chanel Cote D’Azur summer collection earlier this week, its vibrant shades of red, orange, pink and bronze Aqualumiere Glosses made my lipgloss-lovin’ heart skip a few beats. I loved all the colors, but one shade stood out from the rest — a shimmery orange shade called Tangerine Dream.
Like a fiery Hawaiian sunset in the tube, she applies as a semi-sheer orange with shimmery golden flecks on the lips.

If you like peach, coral or gold lipsticks, you may also like Tangerine Dream. I think she plays nicely with other shades in those families.
This morning I wanted to pretend it was summer, so I tried a summery lip with Tangerine Dream above a layer Benefit’s Gilded Pencil.

And I think it’s a combo that’d work well with a coral blush like Benefit Coralista on the cheeks.
For the eyes, I might wear something green (in honor of St. Patrick’s Day), like two products from the upcoming MAC Sugarsweet collection, Aquavert Eyeshadow and Cakeshop Shadestick.
Speaking of MAC Sugarsweet, there’s a lipstick in the release called Lollipop Loving. It’s a shimmery peach with green and golden pearl. I thought she might work with Tangerine Dream and gave her a try.

To go with this a lip look like this, I might use either a coral or peach blush on the cheeks, maybe something like Benefit Coralista, MAC Pinch O’ Peach or MAC Peaches, finishing up with a peachy bronze eyeshadow like MAC Amber Lights.

Spring’s around the corner!
It’s a week away, right? Wow, I can hardly wait!
What are you up to today? Did you catch Terminator: SCC last night?
I’m stepping out for a late lunch and later might stop by Sephora to check out Urban Decay’s new Pocket Rocket Lipglosses. Other than that, I don’t have a lot going on today… I need some chill time.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I am debating between Ginger Shimmer or Tangerine Dream but man, I would love to get both!

Girl you know I’m lusting after that Lollipop loving! But I think I’ve just added tangerine dream to the shopping list. It looks gorgeous! I’m totally agreeing a foxy green eye would look faboosh with it!

If had I walked up to a Chanel counter and spied that Tangerine dream sitting there in that tube I would’ve been waaay too scared to even touch it. It looks really bright.
On your lips however it looks stunning! I really want it now! The closest thing I ever had to an orange gloss was a Juicy Tube which was bright orange. Of course though, Juicy Tubes have close to no pigmentation…
Have a good weekend!

Gorgeous colors Karen!
Have you ever been to the Farmer’s Market in SF? I spent the morning there today and it was so fun. Got some yummy veggies & fruits, enjoyed a burger at Taylor’s, walked around and finished the day with some gelato. Fun times!

Hi Marisol,
How fun! Yes, I love the SF Farmer’s Market. I love the kettle corn and the fresh apple juice.
It’s been a minute since I’ve visited, though. I used to go during the week ’cause I worked two blocks away. Did you get the sweet potato fries at Taylor’s? Those are the best!

Hi Jian,
I hope you try it. It’s surprisingly very wearable. The Aqualumieres also feel so soft on the lips, and they’re super hydrating!
Enjoy your evening!

Hi BJ,
OHHHH girrrrl, you have to get Lollipop Loving! It’s so neat when it flashes in the light.
If you end up getting either please let me know what you think of ‘em.
Hope you’re having a nice weekend so far! Got any plans for Sunday? I think I might go to SF to take some pics.

Hi Julie S.,
Ginger Shimmer looks so pretty. Can you imagine it with a hot gold and bronze eye? Oh la la — so summery.
How’s your weekend been so far?

I want Tangerine Dream so badly! I might pick it up when I go to MAC this week to check out Sugarsweet.
And I would love to know if those pocket rocket lipglosses attract guys lol.
And no, I missed Terminator, and I am bummed!

Hi Rinslet,
The Barbie palettes are fun! If you’re thinking about picking up a can I highly recommend Foxy. You’ll get a similar orange lipgloss to Tangerine Dream along with a waterproof mascara called Lash Visor (it’s fab). It’s a very good deal for the price. Plus, you get that totally cute can, which you can stuff with makeup brushes or whatever you like.

Hi Miss QQ,
I am looking forward to Cherry Blossom, too! I found myself thinking about it all weekend (and the palette, too). I’m kinda crushing!
What do you think of the quad?

Hi Marisol,
Girl, you know I loves me some garlic. YUM!
Next time you’re their you should try a few goodies from Out the Door. Love them!

Hi Erin,
LOL!
Terminator was okay. I feel like the story has been dragging, and I’m kinda getting annoyed with future John making all these mysterious decisions that we’re left wondering about. I want them to start moving the plot along!
