Sometimes, when I rifle through my makeup, I feel like a deep-sea explorer — like the Jacques Cousteau of cosmetics 🙂 — discovering new species of lipgloss and learning more about the many products that inhabit my personal makeup world, LOL!
I get a big kick out of rediscovering great products that I haven’t worn in months, like the Sparkling Satins Eyeshadow quad from Chanel ($56).
You see, I have a chronic case of makeup ADD. It’s almost debilitating, and Chanel’s stunning limited edition quads always make it worse.
When I recently reconnected with the cool-toned Sparkling Satins quad (comes with four powder shadows; I’d picked it up a few months ago at a Chanel master class), part of Chanel’s permanent line, I suddenly realized how lost I’d been without her.
Each of the four shades — a buttery gold, a light blueish gray, a silvery pink and a gunmetal gray with silver glitter — can do for eyes what only a two-week tropical getaway with a shirtless Ryan Reynolds could do. In other words, they do a lot.
When I’m in the mood for more color than something like the NARS Kalahari can give me (big on the neutral shades), I’ll reach for something like the Sparkling Satins Eyeshadow quad.
How to fake REM sleep
Here’s my favorite way to wear Sparkling Satins…
- First, for some color, I pat the shimmery pink or blue shadow onto my lids with a flat eyeshadow brush before blending out the edges with a fingertip.
- Then, to lighten the eyes, I’ll pop the gold shade into the tear duct area with a pencil brush and blend the edges with a makeup sponge.
- For some soft definition, I’ll smudge the gunmetal gray shadow along my upper and lower lash lines with a short shader brush.
- Finally, a quick curl with a lash curler and two coats of mascara — all done! 🙂
Warm-toned babes, listen up!
If you’re a cool-toned gal, I bet these colors will sing sonnets on your skin, but warm-toned beauties still might want to give Sparkling Satins a try (even if you don’t typically give cooler colors a second glace).
My skin’s on the warmer side, but I think these cool colors still work well. In Sparkling Satins, Chanel has a product with shades that should be wearable by women of a wide range of skin tones.
Is Sparkling Satins new to you? Have you ever played with these colors before?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Gorgeous colors! I just bought the Kaska beige quad, but the colors aren’t working for me, so I might have to check this out when I return the Kaska. Or I might try some Chanel duos or singles. Do you have any Chanel duos or singles? If so, can you recommend some light-medium colors? If not,I might just get another Glossimer – love that gloss!

Hi Karen,
I am embarrassed to say this, but I don’t own any Chanel anything other than nail polish, 2 lip glosses and just recently I got the Pro Lumiere foundation, which I am in love with. I’m afraid if I start buying their E/S, I will get addicted, and it’s sooo expensive! These look amazing though…

Hi Karen!
Although I really love Chanel for some reason I don’t like their eye shadows. They are so dry and not pigmented. I am talking about those round shadows from Europe. Maybe they are different in the US because as I can see from all you photos of Chanel quads they look so silky and pigmented. Hmmm

There is a rimmel pallette called Sweetly Smouldering or something with these exact colors. Pigmentation is alright as well, better with primer.

I actually don’t own a single thing from Chanel. It’s so expensive, plus I usually have something from MAC or Urban Decay at the top of my wishlist. And now I have to get new retainers for my teeth, and that’s $500. (And of course my dental insurance won’t pick up the tab at all.) Gosh, think of all the makeup I could get with that money…

I don’t own any Chanel, because I don’t have the $$$ and because you can’t get it here! No problem, I don’t want to get addicted to it 😀
The quad is very pretty, I’d love to see the colours on Ryan Reynolds’ abs – sorry, on yo’ eyes! LOL

Beautiful palette, I don’t own any Chanel palettes yet because I find from swatching at the store the pigmentation and quality are a hit and miss depending on the palette. I will definitely play around with this when I stop by the Chanel counter next time.

Oh dude, I think I remember that post when you first bought this quad! And no!! I actually don’t have any Chanel products yet though I am sorely, sorely tempted to go track down Trapeze nail polish. I do like the Sparkling Satins colors though and I think I’m going to try something similar to what you suggested for my eyes tomorrow (have to be up at 6am LOL).

Oooohhhh, I definitely want to take a look at this next time I’m at Bloomingdales! I’m still adjusting to a new house, and commute to work, and its definitely been playing with my sleep habits, so anything that will make me look less sleep deprived is better!

Ou, I have this one! I love it. It is very versatile. I will have to try it the way you suggested! Its pretty sheer so its easy to work with..I just wet my brushes a little if I want a more saturated coverage. Shimmers so nicely.

Sparkling Satins was by far my favorite quad from CHANEL. I went through 4 of them! Can’t find it anymore… Trying to find a replacement.
