A couple weeks ago my friend Jen and I were chatting about makeup when one of us brought up Bobbi Brown.
Now, Jen’s a recent convert to the cult o’ Bobbi, so I asked her what she liked about the brand, and she said, “When I wear it, I still feel like I look like me, and not like I’m trying to be someone else,” which I totally get. I think it’s why Bobbi’s makeup strikes a chord with so many women, myself included.
I know that when I don’t want to fuss with five different colors blended into my crease, there’s always Bobbi Brown.
For her latest foray into holiday makeup, Bobbi created a double-decker palette designed to flatter all skin tones. The new limited edition Deluxe Lip & Eye Palette ($80) contains two tiers of makeup in lovely tortoiseshell attire, with one tier filled with neutral brown, gold, pink and beige shades for eyes, and another tier with pink, mauve and rose lipsticks for lips.
The Bobbi Brown Deluxe Lip & Eye Palette ($80) includes…
- Ivory Eye Shadow, a matte creamy white
- Sandy Rose Metallic Shadow, a silvery plummy mauve
- Chiffon Sparkle Shadow, a pale gold
- Antique Rose Shadow, a rosy brown
- Malted Shadow, a soft grayish brown
- Bronzed Pink Metallic, a mid-tone shimmering pink
- Cream Metallic Shadow, a shimmering creamy white
- Black Chocolate Shadow, a rich blackened brown
- Pink Sequin Cream Lip Color, a Sheer pinkish peach
- Pale Mauve Cream Lip Color, a sheer pink mauve
- Black Cherry Creamy Lip Color, a rich berry red
- Pale Beige Creamy Lip Color, a nude pinkish beige
- Coral Pink Creamy Lip Color, a bright warm pink
- Pink Blossom Creamy Lip Color, a mid-tone bluish pink
- Rose Garden Creamy Lip Color, a mid-tone shimmer rose
- Mini Eye Shadow Brush
- Mini Lip Brush
Most holiday makeup kits whizz by me in a blur without making much of an impression, but this one stands out. There’s plenty of Bobbi-style neutrals up in the mix, but they’re joined by rosy pinks, deep berries, bright corals and a sparkly gold for a delicate dash of glamour.
Among the eyeshadows, there are workhorse mattes to ground your looks, pretty pops of pink, and a sprinkling of holiday glitter for festive sparkle.
And for lips, while I’m not normally a fan of lip palettes because I just think they’re rarely as practical as carrying around one or two tubes, I appreciate the wide range of shades here, from everyday pinks and nudes to brighter, bolder options like berry and coral.
As a holiday palette, this one’s a little expensive…but look what you get! — elegance, and the makings of some gorgeous holiday looks.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. I don’t know if you’ve already entered, but there’s a $50 Sephora e-gift card up for grabs in last weekend’s giveaway, which closes tonight at midnight. I’m just sayin’… 🙂

I have to say, this palette is really lovely. It surpasses the typical holiday palettes because it’s classic. This palette will stand the test of time where a holiday palette will probably be shoved in a drawer Jan 1st .. lol.
Definitely going to take a look see this weekend.
Monica.
Karen says
Hi Monica,
I agree. It’s something that can carry over from season to season easily.
When you visit Bobbi Brown, make a note to check out the highlighters from the Scotch on the Rocks collection. They’re both super pretty!
Hope you had a nice weekend. What did you do?
Agata says
What a lovely palette. I think it would be great for a makeup artist. And the shades look beautiful on you.
Divya says
This is seriously expensive but seriously gorgeous too! I love that its a more rose inspired palette!
Sylirael says
The palette is very pretty indeed, but damn, Karen! You’e looking amazing in these pics! Especially that first one – it’s like all of your darling sweet personality is just shining through. 🙂
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just take my cheese over here and lament how terrible I look in full face photos, LOL!
Karen says
Hey Sylirael,
Aww thanks sweets! Most likely I was thinking of food when I took these pics. The thought of pumpkin pecan cheesecake brings me great joy, haha!
How have you been? Did you have a nice weekend?
Kiss & Make-up says
I would kill for that palette. It looks soooo pretty! As do you by the way, looking radiant as always!
Karen says
This palette would look beautiful on you. I think you’d like the sparkly gold! The glitter is very fine, yet you can still see the shimmer.
I hope that you’re having a nice Tuesday so far. What do you have going on today? I’ve got writing pretty much all day, then a running workout for tonight, which I’m excited about. I got tired of running after the half marathon and needed a break. Now I’m trying to get back on track!
Kelly B. says
Lovely looking palette but whoa, that’s a lot of money! I wish the eyeshadows looked a little more unique, too, I hate when eyeshadows in expensive palettes end up looking the same color on the eyes!
Karen says
Hmm, I didn’t really have an issue with the eyeshadows appearing the same…
Laarni says
So gorgeous palette! I wish someone with a kind heart will gift this to me! Mwahaha. lol. You are always beautiful, Karen, what’s your secret? 😀
Kim says
Beautiful and grounded enough to wear every day. A bit pricey but I can definitely see people hitting the pan on all of these! 🙂
Erin says
Out of all the “holiday” palettes this has been the one I’ve been lemmin’ the most. It’s an all year type and it’s super nice for travel!
Karen says
Yes it is! Are you taking any trips over the holidays?
Erin says
Not sure yet. There has been talk of coming to California so my husband can meet some of my family. We’ve been together 6 years and he hasn’t even met my brothers in person! Magic of the military. My husbands Grandfather just died so we may go to Virginia Beach for Thanksgiving but it all depends on the military. The joy of serving is never knowing what you are going to be doing until the last moment!
Dee says
Gorgeous palette and I love how fresh it makes your face look!! Its a very “pick-me-up” kinda palette. I did see it in store and passed on it because I felt the colours were dupeable but it looks so purdy on!
Karen says
Hi Dee,
Trying it on is what made me fall in love. The colors are shades you can wear all year long, too! If you head back to the Bobbi counter you might want to give a whirl — ya never know, right?!
I hope that you’re having a nice day so far. What are you up to?
Dee says
Oh for sure they do look gorgeous! I didnt have time Karen….I was on a mission ..VIB rouge haul day lol and because this wasn’t already on my radar I told myself to just move on and that I could live without it:)) I will try it the next time I’m in though(probably wont be too much later bahaha). My days ok so far – not a holiday in Canada so just on my lunch break now:) Have a good one:)
Karen says
You have to stay focused on those VIB rouge haul days, for sure! Eyes on the prize, LOL. 🙂 Have you found any gems in your haul? The only thing new I tried was the t3 Bodywaver curler (it’s for more for loose waves rather than curling) and gah, I’m already in love with it.
Enjoy your lunch! *waves from Northern California*
Dee says
Hmm..yours is one of the more positive reviews Im hearing about the T3 bodywaver! Most people said it doesn’t hold their wave :s Well my problem is my hair has too much body lol so I guess it doesnt matter:)) I bought the Luna Foreo that Ive been wanting to for a while alongside some other goodies but I thnk that was pretty much the main thing for me:) *waves back from cold and gloomy Montreal,Canada*
Karen says
I’m guessing that people who don’t like it hope for mermaid waves, but that’s not really what it’s designed for. The 1.75-inch barrel is huge, so it won’t give those tight S waves. It’s created for the look of a blowout with a round brush, and for that, OMG, it’s genius! It hits that look on the head, IMHO. I really think that T3 should give it a different name, since “Bodywaver” is a little confusing.

Another classic from Bobbi Brown. The thing I like about her products, no matter what — lips, eyes, blush — is that they work well with other brands — kinda tones down Dior and MAC. Her shadows add a bit more complexity to the Chanel ones.
I purchased the Scotch on the Rocks eyeliner but thought the lippies were too glimmery for me. Some items from that mini-collection with this haul of a palette — a lot of bases would be covered!
gio says
What a lovely palette for every day, all year round. The colours look great on you.
LindaLibraLoca says
While I get what your friend Jen is saying, this is the main downside on Bobby Brown for me. I love their colors for the neutral look, but I also look at every new collection feeling there is nothing new to be seen.
But great for someone who sticks to neutrals and wants to cover a bright variety without having to hoard different brands.
Rachel R. says
Beautiful palette! The eye and lip colors complement each other very well.
Allison C says
What a stunning holiday palette! It stands for me because of the two-tier packaging, the tortoise shell exterior, and the lovely array of very wearable shades that looked so beautiful on you. This should go on my Wish List, but I’m not sure that I’ve got a benefactor who’ll splurge for more makeup for me, lol
Tatiana says
I feel like Bobbi Brown makeup is akin to a good boyfriend or husband. It helps to make you a better version of yourself. No bad boy drama or getting into trouble. Just something attractive, comfortable, safe and secure that you can rely on, no matter what.
Majick says
I really want to like BB but I think she is just a little too tame for me. LOL I have a few smaller pallets for eyes and a couple blushes and feel like I just don’t get the color payoff? I feel like it takes a whole lotta time to just look meh.
Wish I could get a look as nice as yours with her products. Everytime a read a good review it makes me want to try the stuff again. I have also found that when I do this, sometimes my opionion changes because maybe my skin has or my application technique has. I hope that makes sense. LOL
I think I will be able to pass on this baby but it really is a NICE holiday palette if you’re in the market for natural. THe colors do look dupable and in fact I have a LORAC palette that has most of these same colors in it and I’ll tell you, it’s one of the MOST FLATTERING palettes I own.
THanks for your review.
Cindy says
These colors are right up my alley 🙂 Pigmentation on 4 of the eyeshadows seem so-so but nothing that eye primer can’t fix, right? Pigmented eyeshadow is nice and all but I like to build up my eyeshadow rather than have too much on and furiously try my best to blend everything out. At least the lip stuff is in another compartment altogether. Black Chocolate in something like Pink Sequin is not as pretty as it sounds xD
I heard about the Urban Decay Naked on the Run Palette/Set/Coffret? coming out soon and now am torn between this and the UD. I have the Anarchy Face Case which is a similar concept but the eyeshadows are waaay too glittery to be appropriate for a family dinner.
Hopefully, this will still be available if I decide the UD is not for me. 😀
Sarah says
The lipstick part is more exciting to me than the eyeshadows. (I’ve been wanting black plum creamy lip color for a while now…) I love Bobbi but I wish that she didn’t have to include so many white/pale shadows in every palette. I can’t wear any form of white shadow or my eyes look extremely small. I know that I could use it as part of a look, a brow highlighter ect…, but I already have plenty of highlighters. I would have been all over this if there were just a few more deeply pigmented shadows.
Alas, I think I will save my pennies and just get the lip color that I’ve been lemming. You look great in these colors though
Jessica says
Hi Karen,
I love your blog ! Thanks for the review! How similar are these eye shadows to bobbi brown’s katie palette? I have the latter and really would like the dekuxe palette, but I’m thinking the two are two similar…
Thanks!
Jessica
