Counting down to love with the new Benefit Countdown to Love Advent Calendar

Five, four, three, two…

LOVE! love

The countdown to love is on, and Benefit is managing the clock. You might feel the love, too, if you find Benefit’s new Countdown to Love Advent Calendar ($68) under the tree this year.

Hmm… I wonder what’s inside.

Remember advent calendars when you were a kid? With the tiny toys or pieces of candy hidden behind little pop-out compartments? They’d usually start on the first day of December, or thereabouts, and you’d get to open another one of the compartment every day all the way to Christmas.

The ones I usually got had hard candies and chocolates, and those were always fun, but Benefit took the idea to a higher plane of awesomeness with their new Countdown to Love kit, which was obviously designed to drive Benefit babes wild.

Merry mini madness, and a happy new kit

Countdown to Love comes with 24 surprises, which works out to just under $3 each, including 21 travel-sized mini Benefit products and three accessories (two charms and a barrette).

Who’s that Bad Gal?

Yes, it’s really, really cute, albeit extra large, but it’s more than that. It contains some of the best stuff in the Benefit line — practical, everyday products you could work into your rotation immediately, like Hoola, CORALista, Benetint and Highbeam.

So here’s the kicker: it’s huge and rather bulky. It’s definitely not going to fit into a pocket or purse.

As a gift, it’s kind of cool if you’re the recipient. I mean, you open it up and BAM! — gigantic makeup set. But if you’re the gift giver and want to send it to someone for the holidays, the postage could cost more than the actual kit.

It covers half my body like a glorious makeup blanket!

I would not try to ship this. If you’re interested, I’d suggest purchasing it online (it’s available now from Sephora with free shipping), and having it shipped directly to the lucky gal/guy.

Yeah, it’s almost 70 bucks…but it’s packed like a beauty piñata and works out to be a pretty good deal.

It probably wasn’t made with hardcore Bene-babes in mind. If you already own many of the products, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but if you like to hoard Benefit’s limited edition items, or if you just want travel sizes of some of your faves, what a fun holiday kit. :)

PRICE: $68
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Benefit, Sephora and Ulta stores, counters and also online

Oh man, I want this so bad! I LOVE advent calendars. In fact, I still get them every year. I get the ones with the little chocolates. You can get them at Walgreens near the end of November.

But to get makeup and stuff in there? I’m sold.
