My nightly routine consists of getting into some comfy jammies, snuggling my boys in bed and, as soon as they fall asleep, that’s my YouTube time. From the time I discovered YouTube beauty videos in college all those years ago, I can’t sleep until I watch the newest videos from my favorite beauty gurus.
And a lot of the time when they’re talking about highlighters, Becca’s in the conversation! Now after finally using them, I see what all the fuss is about.
Opal is my favorite Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector shade. It’s the perfect champagne, and I think it looks stunning on everyone. They’ve got some other shades as well that are more cool toned, and some that are more golden, so there’s something for every skin tone out there. They also come in three formulas — Liquid (the O.G. Skin Perfector), Poured (which is a cream), and Pressed (which is a powder).
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal ($41 for 1.7 oz.)
I love how versatile the liquid version is. There are at least three different ways you can use it, like you can use it as a primer and apply it all over your face before your foundation for a really subtle lit-from-within glow.
Probably my favorite way to use it is to mix it in with my foundation. I just put my foundation on the back of my hand and mix in about half a pump, and it makes your foundation gorgeously dewy! Be warned, though — it’s suuuuper glowy, and if you’re already oily, it may be a little too much for your skin.
The last way I like to use it is as my highlighter. After my makeup is all done, I tap just a little bit on the top of my cheekbones and blend it out with my beautyblender.
But I usually only use it that way on lighter makeup days, because I don’t like to put liquids on top of powder. It can kind of chunk up, so I only use it when I haven’t set my makeup with a powder.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème in Opal ($38 for 0.17 oz.)
I LOVE the look of the Poured Crème formula. Because it’s a cream, it seems to sink into the skin a little better than a powder would. The texture of the poured version is so creamy and easy to work with that it takes almost no effort to blend it in.
It’s almost like a cream-to-powder formula so, as it dries down, it’s not sticky at all and feels super soft.
If I’m going for an intense highlight, which, let’s be honest, is most days, I’ll put the poured version on first, then set it with the pressed powder. If you really want to glow, that’s the way to go.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal ($38 for 0.28 oz.)
The pressed Shimmering Skin Perfectors have some of the softest powders I’ve ever dipped my fingers into. It seriously almost feels like a cream. You barely have to tap your brush into the powder and dust it over your cheekbones for an amazing highlight. As you can see in the swatch, there’s no glitter in here at all. It’s just pure glow.
I used the Champagne Pop Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in a Strobing Tutorial over on Jen Leigh Beauty. If you’re into strobing, you need these products!
If you’ve ever used a chunky, glittery highlighter that made you look like a greasy, hot mess, I feel your pain. Luckily, with any of these three Shimmering Skin Perfector formulas, you’ll look like a glowing goddess. What better time than summer to smack one — or all three! — of these all over your face!?

The swatch on your hand looks so soft and natural. I can barely tell there’s a highlight (which is what I would want).

I have the liquid in Moonstone, it’s so nice! I do primarily liquids and creams due to dry skin.

I have the powder in Rose Gold – it’s great for a subtle tan(ish) glow. Just don’t use too much or else you will look like a rose gold statue! Less is more with these powders.

Great review! I have & love Opal. I’ve only used the powder formula, though I also have the liquid version. I’ve been afraid to use the liquid version because I have oily skin & don’t wanna risk looking like a disco queen or disco ball 🙂 But I may try it under the powder to amp up that highlight factor. Champagne Pop looked a bit ashy on me but I also have & ADORE Blushed Copper. You’re spot on about Becca. They “take” all mah coins ?

I love the poured version (the only one I have tried), because I am all about that subtle glow.

I love using the liquid version on other people – it just makes you look so well, y’know!?
It’s too much for my oily skin though, so I go for the powder day to day. I love Becca products!

I’m so terrified of anything that shimmers! But glow? That I can do I guess.

There is currently a set of opal pressed and pored in mini sizes at sephora, great way to try it out and i think it will last a fair time. FYI
