Bare Escentuals bareMinerals has something BIG lined up for fall, and the question is, are you ready?
The line is leaping into the thrilling world (it is to me) of pressed eyeshadow duos and quads with a brand new line of permanent collection products called Ready. The 19 pieces in the Ready Eyeshadow Collection, which arrives on counters this October (ready or not), consist of four quads ($30 each) and 15 duos ($20 each), and for a brand best known for their loose mineral eyeshadows, it signifies a brave shift in a bold new direction.
But what about the minerals…?
Don’t worry. They’re still here — in the form of something called “solid mineral technology.” bareMinerals went mining in the sea and put the stuff they found into pressed powder form. The shadows, according to the company, promise to deliver vivid pigments, as well as softer, smoother skin.
These just emerged from the surf this afternoon, so I haven’t had a chance to really dig into ’em yet, but I had to share pictures. From what I can tell so far, the vibrant powders feel soft and surprisingly smooth (and aren’t the product names GREAT!?). 🙂

Well, what do ya think? I’m intrigued by the metallics — actually, by more than that. I see a lot of fun colors here (LOVE The Vision and Showstopper duos).
Happy 1,123rd birthday, Vampire Eric!
Vampire Eric, known by his family and friends as Alexander Skarsgård, turns 35 today.
Happy birthday, Vampire SkarsgÃ¥rd! You look great for your age. 🙂
My buddy Marisol was kind enough to alert me to this article featuring animated A. Skarsgård .gifs.
Thanks, Marisol. And THANK YE GODS for the fine specimen that is Mr. Skarsgård.
Enjoy! 😉

Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
October is going to kill my wallet. My favorite duos are the same as yours–esp. Vision and Flashback as well. There are several great looking quad too and the prices are awesome! Can’t wait!
Karen says
Hi Cindy,
Ah, I know that feeling all too well!
dani@callitbeauty says
oh goodness, LOVE The Elements and The Vision!
i’ll definitely have a swatch at these once they’re available in Canada. fingers crossed they won’t hike the price up too much… oh, who am i kidding?
Karen says
Hi Dani,
You’re going to love these!
Alyse says
ohh nice The Truth , Enlightenment and Epiphany ones look like they could kill my desire to own the Chanel prelude quad, How do you think they would compare?
Karen says
Hi Alyse,
These seem to lay down darker color. Also, Prelude swatched much more cool on my skin in comparison to Enlightenment and Epiphany. Here’s a link to the post with swatches in case you’re interested:

Joyce says
Your swatches look awesome!
BareMinerals is not a brand that I usually buy, but those eyeshadows look pigmented and beautiful! Most look totally wearable and easy to pair with other colors.
Karen says
Hi Joyce,
They do! I love that they also threw in some interesting duocrome-y shades, too.
Heidi says
These look amazing! As someone who has tried and tried, but eventually had to accept the fact that I’m too uncoordinated and klutzy to deal with loose shadows, I’m thrilled to see the company going in this direction. The pigmentation and color combos are impressive.
Karen says
Hi Heidi,
Me too. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally knocked over jars… this is going to make my life a whole lot easier!
gio says
The Elements look gorgeous! Thanks for the swatches.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
You’re welcome!
Emily says
WOW! Those pack some serious pigment! I can’t wait to try them.
Haha! That gif is great…I can’t …look….away..
Karen says
Hi Emily,
Haha! I had the same reaction!
kharanya says
Those swatches look awesome! Yay for Bare Minerals bringing out pressed eyeshadows. I forgot the name of the purple quad I was eyeing after getting an eyeful of Eric LOL!
Karen says
Hi Kharanya,
LOL! That happens. Eric has that power. 😉
Adrienne says
OMG, Dream Sequence, The Elements (so interesting!), and Showstopper, get out of these pictures and into my makeup bag!! Also, lol at the names of the colors in Grand Finale! Are we sure this is Bare Escentuals, not Too Faced or Benefit (“I’d like an eyeshadow in, uh.. ‘nice melons'”)?!
Karen says
Hi Adrienne,
Ha, I was thinking the same thing. I love cheeky makeup names. 🙂
peach_ says
Wooow, great swatches and a nice sudsing scene for a finishing touch! I’m loving the contrast of The Grande Finale and versatility of The Scenic Route. Love golds.
Karen says
Hi Peach_,
It’s hypnotic, isn’t it? I know I can’t look away.
Ling says
Beautiful swatches – I want, want, want 😀
Karen says
Hi Ling,
Thanks, lady! What colors are you liking so far?
BettyS says
Yay, pressed shadows! I’ve always liked BE’s colors, but the messy loose powders turned me off – especially dealing with darker colors that get all over my hands as soon as I unscrew the lid. This new line will bring me back. I’ve got my eyes on The Inspiration.
Karen says
Hi BettyS,
I hear ya. I’m a klutz and always had trubs with the jars. I can’t tell you how stoked I am to finally see them do pressed eyeshadows!
Kaitlin says
I NEED The Dream Sequence! Those colors are fabulous.
Karen says
Hi Kaitlin,
LOVE that bright pop of purple in that quad. 🙂
Nina says
the colors are lovely, and they swatched so beautifully!
Karen says
Hi Nina,
Thanks, babe!
TGIF, btw. 🙂
Nina says
TGIF indeed!
gearin’ up for an angry birds birthday party this weekend — my bestie’s boy is turning one!
Amanda says
Great swatches. I’m loving The Elements! It would be great for colorblocking.
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
I like that one too. I think it would be fun with the orange on the lid and the blue on the lower lash line.
Ruchita says
Wow, what a collection! Thanks for all the swatches. I see a lot of colors I like.
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
You’re welcome. Which ones are you considering?
Ruchita says
I’m trying to expand beyond all the neutral browns I already have, so I’m digging The Dream Sequence, The Inspiration and The Showstopper.
NeenaJ says
Wow. That gif is making me salivate.
Um, oh yea, nice shadows too.
Karen says
Hi NeenaJ,
You and me both!!!
blovetbeauty says
the pigmentation is really good!
Karen says
Hi Blovetbeauty,
Yes, it sure is!
Swatch And Learn says
I wasn’t expecting amazing colour payoff like that! Really caught me by surprise.
Thanks for swatching all of these, Karen!
From all these great colours, Mirage really caught my eye. Climax and Encore are also pretty sweet!
Karen says
Hi Swatch And Learn,
You’re welcome! 🙂 Glad that there are a couple colors that you like. I think you’ll be really impressed with the textures…
Chris25 says
These look amazingly pigmented!
Karen says
Hi Chris,
They are! They’re even more gorgeous in real life. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Melissa says
Karen – sooo….you drop the makeup bomb that Bare Escentuals is making pressed shadows, and you swatch all of them – GORGEOUS! Then you put up a GIF of Eric not only shirtless, but shirtless in the shower….I think I love you. If you ever need a kidney, let me know!
Karen says
Hi Melissa,
LOL! Thanks, babe. 🙂 Have a great Friday!
Vonvon says
Dream Sequence Boudoir is a gorgeous shade! and so are many of the duos and quads.
I hope these will come to the UK soon. Would like to try Bare Escentuals, but didn’t like their loose eyeshadows (not the colours, but don’t like the idea of loose pigments). That said, I like MAC pigments though. 😉 I am just fickle……
Shannon says
oh MAN these are gorgeous! I would totally go for a pressed BE shadow….
Barb says
OH MY GOD!!!! I want all the shadows and Eric naked in the shower!
OK, seriously, all of those colors look gorgeous and I can see a large collection in the near future. That blue in the Grand Finale looks amazing!
Thanks 🙂
JenJ says
I….am….in….loooooooove!!! I wants em ALL!!!!! Gah!!!!! Simply gorgeous!!!! I love BE shadows and I’m sure the pressed ones are going to be grrrreat!
Joanna says
Bare Minerals I love their products..but I never tried their eyeshadow. It’s look reall nice. Love them all.. 🙂
Katie S. says
These are going to be fab! I love BE but the dusting of my eyeshadow from the little jars on to my bathroom counter is killing me, so I’m all for these pressed powders!
jenn s. says
I’m a little bit disappointed. These look kind of chalky to me. And I was really hoping the colors would have the same names as the loose versions. I am desparate for a solid/pressed version of Bare Skin and Celestine, my two absolute favorite BE shadows. Thanks for the swatches and info, Karen! Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
Neeraj says
I loved the colors but some of them look a bit chalky! Hats off to Honey moon phase eyeshadow duo….would seem like a gr8 purchase and I am almost going to order one when someone comes from America to India!!
Essy says
I’ve been considering pressing all my BE loose shadows lately but I think maybe I’ll wait for these. Oh and Eric… call me! 😉
Luca says
OMG, those colors are wonderful!
Since bareMinerals is not only “loose minerals” anymore… what about a pressed powder?
Melody says
Wow, the pigmentation! They all look like the colors coordinate well, too. I like Climax. I’m a fool for deep blues like that right now.
Alina says
I am really excited for these new Bare Minerals eyeshadows to be released. The pigmentation looks awesome!!!! 🙂
Ashley McDonald says
Those colors look amazing, tons of pigment. I’m excited to try them out. 2 things I am curious about:
Are they very blendable?
Can they be used wet to intensify the color?
nettie209 says
Beautiful!!!! I really love “The Enlightenment” & “The Inspiration” absolutely brilliant colors and looks highly pigmented which is sooooooo necessary! Thanks for sharing available colors with us! Also I adore “The Nick of Time” … gonna be updating eyeshadow colors in October….
Val says
I love you and your NC42 brown skin! Now I know what they’ll look like on me!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!
Karen says
You’re welcome!
Daneshia says
That is EXACTLY how I feel!! I have to search for some brown skin swatches. Thank you Karen!!!
Val says
Karen, What are your top picks?!?
Chris J says
yay now i know what these will look like on my skin tone ^_^ question though…. is The Honeymoon Phase watch really that purple toned? i thought the pan on the right was a gunmetal gray…
