I can’t stop thinking about that slumber party on Saturday…
I know, I know — what’s a 30-something-year-old woman doing talking about slumber parties? Well, it was probably the most fun I’ve had in months.
Sorry! I keep re-living it over and over in my mind. Please bear with me a little longer before we get to the new $29 Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush from Too Faced…
That night, Jen and I had a conversation about babies. She has a son, Nico, who’s a little over a year old now. Jen says he has a sixth sense where he’s able to detect whenever she’s nearby.
Even if she’s hidden from view (like behind a wall), he’ll shoot his arms out in her direction, like he’s sending out invisible baby radar waves to pinpoint her exact location, and I’ve been wondering if a sense like that might exist for makeup.
Here’s my theory: beauty gals/guys give off a signal that alerts all makeup artists within a 2-mile radius to their presence, letting them known that “easy prey” is approaching.
It’s like, I walk up to a beauty counter, and a silent alarm goes off — beep, beep, beep! “She’s coming! Hurry, everyone! Get ready!”
When I’m vulnerable like that, all I have to do is see something cute at a counter, like the Too Faced Sweetheart Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow, a tasty trio of pink, coral and peach colors all striped together like Neapolitan ice cream, and I’m like, “Sold, bitches!” 🙂
Don’t get me wrong — I love edgy, tough girl makeup, too. Products that make me growl, “GRRRR!” and get me ready to rumble!
Too Faced, though, they’re not that kind of brand. They like pink and unabashedly embrace girly-girl accents like ribbons and hearts, and a big part of me loves them for that.
Too Faced Cosmetics Co-Founder and Creative Director Jerrod Blandino says that he designed Sweethearts for two reasons: 1) to take the guesswork out of cheek color, and 2) to suit a wide range of skin tones.
As in, one blush to rule them all!
You can use it in a couple different ways. First, you could wear the colors individually, like by doing a pink cheek one day, a coral cheek the next, and then a peach cheek the day after that. 🙂
Now, you might want to use a thin brush for this because the stripes aren’t very wide, and even when you’re just aiming for one, it’s easy to pick up pigments from the neighboring colors.
Or, you could use it the way I like to, throwing caution to the wind with a big fluffy brush! — swirling all three shades together and buffing one or two layers of that on the apples of your cheeks for a peachy, pinkish coral glow with a soft, satiny finish.
Looks a little like Benefit’s Sugabomb, doesn’t it? Except a little less frosty, and more coral than plum.
I put it on yesterday around 11 a.m. before leaving the house for San Francisco, and when I went to remove my makeup nine hours later, it was still there!
It wasn’t as fresh as it was in the morning — I’d say it had mostly faded — but a kiss of color remained, and I could still see it on my cheeks.
I’d probably bring it with me next time I’m out and about to touch up halfway through the day…
Candy Glow is a fabulously easy blush that layers and lasts, but darker divas may choose to use it more as a highlighter, as it might not be dark enough for a deep, rich flush on darker skin.

Soo cute 🙂 will you also review the Bodouir eyeshadow palette?
Karen says
Hi Agata,
Yes! I’m actually wearing it in this post. 🙂 I’m testing it over the next few days, so the review’s coming soon.
Kinda random, but have you ever tried Too Faced’s brushes? I just started using a few of them and they’re really great.
Agata says
That’s awesome. I really like Too Faced palettes. The Summer Eyes palette is one of my favorites. And no, actually I have never used their brushes. Which ones are you using? For eyes? A blush brush?
Either way, you look really pretty!
Nadege says
That blush is so pretty! Might have to pick it up 🙂
Karen says
Hi Nadege,
Super pretty! Let me know what you think of it if ya pick it up. 🙂

I’m such a sucker for cute blushes like this! I love the heart shaoe and the shades are just spot on! It looks so glowy and pretty on you!
Karen says
Hi Teri,
I love the heart shape too. Makes me feel like love is in the air!
Happy almost Friday!

Hey Karen!
You have a very pretty smile.
Love the packaging of the blush! The product’s not very unique, though, is it? I feel like I see these colors blocked together pretty often (like in Hard Candy’s Spicy and Sweet Fox in a Box blush). What sets these apart from others like it, besides the slight sheen?
Thanks!
Lucia
Karen says
Hi Lucia,
Ease of use and longevity. It’s simple to use and wears well.
Lucia Z says
Ahh, I see. Thanks for the reply!
I was just reading your YSL Jade Imperial post. I love that the color really is so reminiscent of jade, I mean how do they do that?! It’s also very coincidental because I just (like three minutes ago) finished painting my nails in a similar color (much cheaper, though) and uploaded a pic to my Instagram (luciayzhang). I’ve never used any YSL nail polishes so I can’t compare formulas, but the L’Oreal one wasn’t so impressive. The first coat barely showed up, and even though the second coat was much more pigmented, the polish just feels so thick, that application was a little difficult. But the color is AMAZING.
I love reading your reviews! Very articulate and interesting.

Less frosty and more coral than Sugarbomb????? To quote you to yourself, “SOLD, BITCHES!” That’s my dream blush!

All week. I’ve worn this blush all week! Have you tried their new La Creme shades yet? I pair So Berry Sexy with a nude liner. It’s love!
Joanne says
This is too cute on you! 😀 I love your blog, especially since we have similar skin tones. I might have to pick this one up now! ><

Haha, I love this entry! Especially “one blush to rule them all.” Thought I might be the only one who is a makeup nerd and a book/movie nerd 😀
Iris says
Such a cute blush. I’ll have to take a look in store and see if it works for my skintone!
Monica P says
The packaging is completely adorable. The blush looks .. ok. It’s not a color where I think I need it now.

That sensor! I know what you mean! The makeup part XD However on the actual product itself…that packaging alone is enough to get me out the house to look for it and try it out! (I MAY be a sucker for packaging :D)
Kali says
I gotta admit that the packaging is very captivating… 🙂
Tracy@Beauty Reflections says
Cute packaging! Will have to see what it swatches like first!

I am such a sucker for Too Faced. I am definitely ordering the Sweetheart blush and the Boudoir palette. I also want to share with you that once upon a time I worked for a beauty brand at the counter. And, they have seminars that try to teach you how to recognize someone who is open shopper or a closed shopper and how to build the sale. You must have a big sign on you that says open shopper. Open shopper meaning that you are will to listen, interact and be very approachable or easily persuaded to try and buy. Thank you for this post! I am always thankful that you try the makeup on your face so I can form a decision about how the makeup will fit me.

It’s sooooo cute, but I am skipping because I prefer matte blush!

That’s soooooo pretty and meow-worthy!

This is just too cute! I usually don’t prefer baked blushes, but who on earth could resist this?!! 😀

This look so pretty. I can’t wait to see your review on the new shadows. I also think their brushes are great, and cruelty free!
Kim says
I think you’re on to something with your makeup sixth sense theory. I can usually stand at a counter for 5 minutes, just waiting to tell them what I need, hand them a credit card and be on my way, while no one pays me the least bit of mind. They’re probably all like “hmmm, let me guess… more brown liner? Yawn.” HAHA!
Danii says
I just got makeup and now I’m in love with this. I’m not sure it will work on my uber-pale skin (think something along the lines of NARS’ foundation in Alabaster) but its always worth a swatch! Mostly I love the packaging.
Ankita@corallista says
Looks lovely on you!
Steph says
I want this! It looks great on you!
Jenna N. says
$29 is a lot for a Two Faced product. That’s more than a NARS blush!
Jennifer says
LOVE this on you! Very cute…. Not sure the coral would look good on fairer skin tones though.
Swatch And Learn says
I like the sweet pink – it looks easy to wear. The icing on the top is the novelty heart-shaped packaging. Cute!
