Today I left Tabs in charge of the homestead while I met a friend in SF for lunch. Along my way I bumped into a bunch of beautiful things like…
1. Daffodils
These smiling beauties were right outside of a Nordie’s (I stopped by the MAC counter), all in full bloom. 🙂
2. Chanel Eau Tendre Perfume
While at Nordie’s, I couldn’t resist spraying the new Chanel Eau Tendre ($65) on my wrists. It’s the third version of their Chance perfume (muskier and less citrusy than the previous two) and reminds me of one of my favorite fragrances of 2009, Estee Lauder’s Pure White Linen Pink Coral.
3. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess is back
Swatches of ye olde bronze bombshell: 1. Liquid Eyeshadow in Aqua Flash, 2. Liquid Eyeshadow in Molten Brown, 3. Liquid Eyeshadow in Sand Shimmer, 4. Liquid Eyeshadow in Ultra Violet, 5. Lipstick in Cherry Ice, 6. Lipstick in Wild Plum, 7. Exotic Lip gloss in Wild Coral, 8. Exotic Lip Gloss in Wild Orchid, 9. Exotic Bronzing Blush, 10. Shimmer Bronzer, 11. Bronzer Duo, 12. Bronzing Gel, and 13. Liquid Bronzer
The lovely EL makeup artist who helped me at Nordie’s (Hi, Stephanie!) said Bronze Goddess would probably sell out soon, and it’s only been out a week! Matter of fact, I’d snagged the LAST Liquid Eyeshadow in Aqua Flash ($17.50; the bright, shimmery teal) and Exotic Lip Gloss in Wild Orchid ($18; the shimmery fuchsia with hints of purplish blue). If you’re at all interested in this year’s Bronze Goddess collection, you better get on that, STAT!
4. MAC Riveting
I’m an NC35 for reference: 1. Blush in Full Fuchsia, 2. Blush in Dirty Plum, 3. Lipstick in Show Orchid, 4. Penultimate Liner in Rapidblack, 5. Lipstick in Bubbles, 6. Lipstick in Metal Maven, 7. Lipstick in Riveting, 8. Lipglass in True Babe, 9. Lipglass in Rock Out
When I finally made it over to MAC, the buzz was all about Riveting. I must say… diggin’ the pops of pink, but a lot of the shades are a little too cool for me (DRAT!).
5. Tutus
Oh, I think I spotted my next outfit on the way to the ladies lounge… What do you think? 🙂 Ha! It was in the kids clothing section. I can’t lie — I wish they’d had one in my size!
6. An empty seat cover dispenser
Probably TMI, but I hadn’t noticed the empty dispenser until my drawers were down… Technically, this doesn’t qualify as beautiful, but, hey, it made me laugh. 🙂
7. Cherry blossoms
Around here the cherry blossoms are in bloom, which means two things: 1) spring’s around the corner, and 2) I’d better stock up on Zyrtec.
8. A long stretch of the 101 North
I got lucky today on the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Very little traffic, which is rare for a weekday afternoon. The highway’s called 101, and it’s a straight shot up through Marin County to Novato, which is where Tabs and I live.
9. Hearts on my desk
Home again, and eating these little candy hearts like they’re going out of style… I better not spoil my dinner!
Did you see anything beautiful today?
Come on; I know you did. Share the most beautiful thing you saw or heard today. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I live in Jamaica and since February is the month that Bob Marley was born, there was a huge conference at my school today (U.W.I). The beautiful thing was not only hearing about the culture but most of all it was seeing the little rastafarian girls and boys running aroung and being very carefree. It was truly a moment in time.

I saw the clear clear blue sky. It’s been so gray and dark up here in the Northeast.
Glad to see the sky and some sun. 🙂

LOL….does that mean you also took the picture of the empty toilet seat cover dispenser after you were standing there with your drawers down???? LOL!!!

the daffodils and cherry blossom are so beautiful – here in europe it doesn’t look like spring at all yet 🙁
thank you for the pictures – they are like a sunhine ray in this grey morning 🙂

I was in SF today too, if I’d gone into Nordie’s I might have bumped into you! 🙂
I’ve been seeing daffodils and cherry (and plum) blossoms all over, it always lifts my spirits!

The toilet seat cover dispenser looks like a sad face when it’s empty. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
Ah the 101. I live right off it…. 4 hours away south!
.-= Celine’s last blog post… maravi: Hey skin, you can stop behaving like a zit ridden teen half my age. That would be nice. How do I still have acne at 24 years old? Ugh. =-.
Kate & Zena says
There aren’t many beautiful things here really. I’m seeing things rather with the glass half-empty right now. I’m usually not so depressive but I essentially was told to quit choir or I could stay but a letter to the dean would be sent and I would be expelled from choir. I didn’t do anything “wrong” either. Singing is a passion of mine so things are really bad on my end. I’ve basically been in tears the past two days.
Does Zena count as beautiful?
Hyzenthlay says
Yes 🙂 Zena counts as beautiful!

Hi Karen! I drive on the 101 every day, probably about four hundred some odd miles south of you. I haven’t seen anything beautiful on my stretch of the 101, I’ll tell you that. I did see a lot of beautiful things at school today though, the entire campus for one. I saw (and smelled) blossoms, the weather was beautiful, my TA’s shoes were beautiful, and I ran into my friend Patty, who happens to be beautiful. 😀 But the most beautiful thing I saw was a set of photos of my recently deceased grandfather, that my mom posted on FB today. I set one of me and him as my profile pic.

Today was the first day in a couple weeks that truly shone with all it’s wondrous glory here in Seatte. I took my 18m daughter, Ava Jolie, to the park for several hours. It was so much fun to watch her interact with other kids, also felt good when the other moms kept saying how cute she and asking where she got her fab pink converse. : P Ah, motherhood.

Hi Karen!
The most beautiful thing I saw today was the sunset on my way home, the light changes when spring is coming! The most beautiful thing I heard was my mom’s laugh, she just makes the world a better place 🙂

Hi Karen,
I think the most beautiful things I saw today are my daughter’s smile and the dendrobium orchids on my dining room table. 🙂 The orchids always remind me of Hawaii. When my husband and I went to Oahu in 2005 they used them to decorate the drinks, in leis, on your dinner plate. Have you ever eaten at Duke’s Canoe Club in Waikiki? That was one of my favorite restaurants when we were there, I loved to sit on the patio and watch all the birds and the surfers and to hear the ocean. 🙂
Kajal Couture says
Most beautiful thing was the rose bouquet still blooming from Valentines Day.
I’m kinda bummed the EL collection is selling out! Don’t know that I will make it to the mall soon, so I hope I can still snag a few pieces!

Watching another Canadian snag gold! That and all of the spontaneous singing of O Canada was pretty beautiful. 🙂

The drive on North 101 is so beautiful! It’s so green this time of year.

That was a great question to ask, Karen 😀 I really enjoyed reading people’s responses.
Today, I really enjoyed walking to me car and seeing even more daffodils in bloom on my front yard. This is my first spring at my current home, and I didn’t even know there were daffodils that were going to grow there.
I’m also noticing the cherry blossoms and they’re amazing!
Ania says
I’m so jealous about this beautiful signs of spring:) In Poland still winter and lots of snow (tons of snow:( Best Regards, I love your blog
YJ says
Ugh, I totally feel ya on the cherry blossoms. We have them EVERYWHERE in the DC area and, while they’re absolutely gorgeous to look at, it’s death on your sinuses =( I think the majority of DC/MD/VA residents develop allergies from this!
And the MAC riveting is uber pretty!
.-= YJ’s last blog post… Yes. =-.

My husband stayed up all night working on his thesis and then went to teach for someone else at the school in the morning, with no sleep. When I got home he was sleeping like a baby, flat on his back, with his arms above his head. So peaceful and adorable.

The most beautiful thing I saw yesterday was SUNSHINE!!!
Houston has not had a sunny day in ages … and driving home yesterday, I actually needed sunglasses.
It made me feel like yeah – at some point – this long and nasty winter will give way to spring! 🙂
Lisa S. says
I saw the SUN yesterday and it was STUNNING!! :0) (first time in weeks!) also I got the Tarte Flower child palette yesterday and that was kinda prit!

Hi Karen, I’m really enjoying seeing your pictures of CA. My ex-bf is from Fremont and I used to fly out there to visit (so your picture of highway 101 brings back memories for me!) I’m in Ontario, Canada so winter will be here for a while yet… no daffodils for a couple of months!
gio says
The daffodils look beautiful.
The most beautiful thing I saw today was the sky. It was blue, clear and sunny for fhe first time in months.

Yes, I saw two beautiful things today: my boyfriend, who was wearing a ridiculous, furry hat when I dropped him off for work (his zany-ness makes him beautiful) and my little girl ferret, who is very sweet and pretty. 🙂

The most beautiful thing I saw today was my tax refund in my checking account this morning! Happy Friday! : )

The most beautiful thing I saw was the sun shine! It’s been so drab outside with snow clouds. The sun was so refreshing and lovely to see! Come onnnnn spring!

Karen-
Have you used the Estee Lauder liquid eye shadows? I’m thinking of ordering a few of them online, frankly I feel like I would use all four of them. Any opinions on their wear and use?
