1. Lime-flavored ANYTHING
Forget about lemons. Limes are where it’s at, man.
So sour… So good! I was into key lime pie a few weeks ago (haha, I know, I shift gears often), but now I’m all about lime candies and — OOH! — limeade!
It’s like lemonade but made with limes (obvs). There’s a place in town called Rustic Bakery that makes a GREAT limeade that’s nice and tart with a good bite to it, and sometimes I’ll get one there with lunch.
In fact, I’m drinking one right now. 🙂
Well…I was drinking one, but I just finished it! *slurp*
2. Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop
Current favorite blush right hurr. This pop is a real gem. It’s a $22 peachy brown nude in Clinique’s permanent line, and it buffs out beautifully on cheeks.
Lasts all day, too.
I guess I forgot about it for a while, but I recently re-discovered it while “shopping” in a drawer.
3. Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Vintage
Another beauty I hadn’t worn in a hot minute, but I’m making up for that now!
Doesn’t this pinkish brown have kind of a ’90s vibe to it? (I wore it in yesterday’s winged liner tutorial). I love how this neutral/nude works with darker skin tones, especially (if you’re a lighter lass, check out Hourglass Grace).
4. George Michael’s Freedom ’90 video
Speaking of the ’90s, I read a really interesting story in the August issue of Allure about this video, which stars some of the biggest supermodels from the era (apparently, it took a while to get Linda Evangalista on board).
Like, did you know that it was shot by David Fincher? Yeah, the guy who directed The Social Network, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club and Gone Girl? I had no idea!
The article talks about what went on behind the scenes while they were shooting the video, like how in Cindy Crawford’s bathtub scenes, there was no water in the tub, and she was propped up on a box so her head would hang just right over the edge.
I love the song, too! Keep it on deck if you ever have to leave a sh*tty job.
Yes, I speak from experience.
5. Mossimo Yoga Capris
I found these Mossimo Yoga Capri Leggings last weekend at Target, and all I have to say is, “Where have these been all my life?!”
They’re soft, comfy as all get-out and only $14.99! I bought a gray pair, which I plan to wear during bouts of high-intensity relaxation in my house.
Gonna go back soon for the black!
So, capri pants… For everyday, out-and-about wear, I’m not a big fan of the way they look on me, but I’m totally OK with them for working out, yoga and for lounging around.
Weird, I know. I think it has something to do with the more fitted look of most workout capris? They make me feel less like I’m…about to leap out of a clown car.
What are some things you’ve been loving lately? Any of them from Target? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I need to look into 5! The Clinique blush has been on my wishlist, and just added the Hourglass lipstick to it as well (it is Scully kinda’ lipcolor!).
My favorite 5 things lately:
-Ritter Sports dark chocolate with hazelnuts (Trader Joe’s).
-Chanticaille lip chic-Bourbon Rose.
-Anything Gardenia+Tuberose (e.g. The Estee’ Lauder perfume).
-Haus of Gloi Absinthe body butter.
-Bobcat and other stories-Rebecca Lee.
Karen says
Hi Musical,
I have that Estee Lauder perfume and loooove it! Especially in the summer.
Speaking of Scully, have you heard about the new X-Files movie? Fun fact: Scully wears a wig in it.
Musical says
I think we may be perfume twins or something :).
Oh yes-it’s going to be a mini-series for FOX. I have been binging on X-Files and can’t wait to see Scully and Mulder back!

1) I’m totally into capri legging pants. I have to check out the Target ones that you just posted. I wish I could wear them all the time with a tank top and flip flops. I have a bunch from Nononsense that I bought online
2) I’m obsessed with workout outfits from Fabletics. The clothes are super comfortable and cute
3) I noticed the other day that most if not all of the lipstick I bought last month is a shade of purple. It started out as purple eyeliner and now I’ve moved onto purple lipstick.
4) I love iced cold press coffee. I love the one from Peets and the other day I got a coffee for the 85 degree bakery that was salted caramel coffee.
5) The other day my friend introduced me to macaroon ice cream sandwiches. It’s the macaroon cookie with ice cream in between. The one I had the other day was earl grey ice cream and it was delish
Karen says
That ice cream sandwich sounds delicious! Can I buy it in the frozen section, or is it something you have to get at an ice cream shop?
Tulipthecat says
The sandwich is great. I got it at a store in milpitas. Check the yelp page out: http://www.yelp.com/biz/coco-leaf-milpitas?osq=macaroon+ice+cream+sandwich
If you are in milpitas, you should check it out!

I bought running shorts from Target a couple weeks ago and I really love them. They’re the super short running shorts type, but they have tights inside that go down just a little lower than the shorts hem, hiding most of the upper thigh issues. I can wear them without feeling like I’m out running completely naked! I think the brand is Champion and they were super cheap, like $12 on sale. I have to look into these capris next time I’m around Target!
Karen says
Those sound wonderful! Target has some great workout clothes. I have a couple of sports bras (I think they’re by Champion) that are so comfortable. I have to double them up when I run but I like that they’re soft, lightweight and don’t chafe, ever.
Jennifer says
I love anything lime too, limeades are the best. And if you add a shot of rum and a sprig of mint, you’ve got a damn fine mojito.
My five things are:
1. these Clif bars with nuts and dark chocolate and raspberry. they are amazing and I can’t stop eating them.
2. A book by Marie Kondo called the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up–I seriously think this book is going to change my life.
3. The workflowy app, which is helping me get my website really organized
4. the Little Moments App for iPhone–I’m taking so many more photos
5. the weirdness that is @Periscope. geez, just all kinds of weird stuff and weird people. Not sure I’ll ever be using it but it’s like a car wreck, I just can’t look away.
Karen says
Hi Jennifer,
I have that book and love it. It really helped me do a major purge a few months back. I probably should re-read it again because I need to do more work around the house in terms of organizing. I have managed to Konmari two of my clothes drawers, though, and they are glorious!
MonicaP says
Actually, I mentioned that I had ginger pop in your instagram feed, but now that I’m home, I actually have ~ Rosy pop (oops!). Love these blushes though .. 🙂
Monica.
Karen says
Rosy Pop is pretty too! 🙂 I think you also need Ginger Pop. It’s super pretty and so natural looking.
Hope you had a nice day, Monica.

I just packaged up a Clinique mascara to return, but that blush is heavenly. I just tossed some makeup in a cleanup of my bathroom, since we’re moving this weekend, I could get some new things.
Things I’m loving lately:
1. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. So good!
2. Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint – great product, great lasting power! Especially when layered with…
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light! They had a mini size of this at Sephora I picked up during 3x points week.
4. Glossier Priming Moisturizer – Very nice texture, smooth skin, doesn’t seem to break me out.
5. Magnum Ice Cream bars!
Karen says
Bummer about the mascara! But I’m glad that you’re liking the products from Glossier, yay! Don’t they feel great on the skin? So lightweight and comfy.
So believe it or not I’ve never had a Magnum Ice Cream Bar. Which one do you like?
Chelsea says
They’re super nice!
Magnum Gold is my favorite, but my husband likes the Double Caramel. The Almond ones are great too! Some of the flavors come in mini sizes too that are about perfect!
Karen says
Gah, I would probably love Double Caramel!
I’m all over the minis next time I go to the store, woo-hoo!
Thanks, Chelsea. 🙂
Aditi says
Great list Karen! 5 things that I’ve been loving lately are:
1. Chia seeds! Recent discovery and I love them in anything and everything!
2. Recent drop in temperature and less hot weather of Tokyo.
3. My apartment building had a renovation for 4 months, yesterday only they removed all those poles and tarps from my balcony: I am loving that view now, which I missed for so long!
4. It’s a summer break in schools (I teach English), so I am enjoying being lazy and at home! 😉
5. Flavoured yoghurt and mango lassi! All time summer favourites! 😀
XOXO Aditi
Karen says
Hi Aditi,
You’ve gotta try making chia pudding if you haven’t already! It’s delicious. Here’s a pic and a recipe:
https://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/daily-photo/daily-photo-cha-cha-cha-chia-vanilla-raspberry-and-blueberry-pudding/
How long have you been teaching English? Do you like your job?
Aditi says
Awe, thanks a lot for the recipe Karen, I will definitely try it out!
It has been couple of months now, so far I am liking it! The kids are so adorable. 🙂
Ashleigh says
Oh hay, I’ve been loving that blush too <3 And I'm always down for lime-flavored anything! I was that kid grabbing the lime-flavored freeze pops while everyone else fought over blue. Because blue was totally a flavor.
Things I've been loving:
1. Bath and Body Works Aloe Gel Lotion (who knew they had that formula?) in Oahu Sunset for my first sunburn of the summer (and hopefully last *sigh*)
2. fantasy books (I go in and out of that genre but right now I'm definitely in!)
3. Honey flavored cider. I probably already put that in one of these posts but I stand by it! <3
4. Clinique's Nude Pop Blush. I'm cheating, since I just got it today, but I know I'm going to love it, right?
5. Almond butter coffee smoothies. Delicious!
Karen says
Blue is a legit flavor, lol! So is red. 😉
Oh gosh, now I’m craving a lime pop. Thanks, girl!
Holly says
I love your lists & they challenge me to think about what I love! OK, my five faves are:
1. Ras el hanout, which is a North African spice blend. I seasoned some thin-cut pork cutlets & had them for dinner. It has some of the warmer spices, like cinnamon & nutmeg but also chili powder & paprika so it’s not overpoweringly sweet. I plan on trying it out on chicken as well as on my roasted broccoli.
2. My NYX Simply Pink matte lip cream pencil in Enchanted. LOVE. It’s a great shade on me, it lasts, and best of all, you don’t have to sharpern it because it twists up.
3. C. Booth’s 4-in-1 Lemon Sugar body lotion; 32 ounces of delicious smelling lotion for $10 & it hydrates, firms, repairs, & (gently) exfoliates. I even use a dab on my face occasionally.
4. The all-natural blueberry cheesecake ice cream by Lochmead Farms–amazing! I’m not a huge fan of blueberries, however, I am a sucker for cheesecake. I don’t eat ice cream often but when I get a craving, the little local market comes through for me!
5. Sandra Boynton books; granted, they’re little kids’ picture books, but my nieces love them & I enjoy rereading them to the girls. The rhymes are clever without being cloying & her illustrations are charming.
Kiss & Make-up says
Yes to Ginger Pop! And yes to lime.
Here are 5 things that I’ve been loving lately:
1. My Bobbi Brown Smokey Eyes mascara mini (hi, travel buddy!)
2. Mixing chia seed into my oatmeal
3. Wearing colorful eyeliner on my lower waterline
4. Barbie pink lipstick
5. Counting down to our wedding and honeymoon (9 more days!)
Pamela says
Congrats on #5!!
Kiss & Make-up says
Thank you! 😀

Omg – had to watch the Freedom 90′ video. So much awesomeness! Those were (still are) the true supermodels. Also I had to chuckle at the CD/cassette player.
LindaLibraLoca says
My top five these days? Sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, greek yoghurt with sliced apple and nuts and sleeping. I am all about variety…
Kwmechelle says
Yoga Capris. I’ve already bought two pair this summer. One pair from Old Navy & another from Marshall’s- both on sale.
Champaign Pop- I’m officially no longer afraid of highlighters. I could bathe in this stuff!
Turquoise eyeliner in the out third of my water line- picked up a Sephora brand. It’s pretty decent wear-time wise. I’ll prolly bite the bullet & get a Marc Jacobs turquoise liner for my b-day.
Trude says
Oh yeah, I remember that video being ever-y-where when it came out. 🙂 And lime is the best, especially in summer! I use frozen limeade for margaritas, it’s my dad’s recipe and a million times better than any margarita mix.
1) Origins Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay – anything for smaller pores, and it’s only $25!
2) Glamglow Thirstymud – follow the clay mask with this and my skin is super happy.
3) Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural – been using this to set my foundation this summer and I loooove it.
4) Air conditioning – I don’t have it at my place, so when it gets really bad I go over to the BF’s!
5) Burritos – I can’t stop! I’ve been using this recipe for the meat and it’s so stinkin’ good: http://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2015/04/beef-taco-salad.html

2) Wearing no foundation (It feels like freedom)
3) ANN TAYLOR (but then again that’s every month)…so maybe OUTLET MALLS
4) Coffee (do I need to explain)
5) Lancome Lipsticks ( I can’t decide on a specific shade, I have too many oops)
xx,
India
Rachel R. says
1) Nyx Suede Cream Lipstick in Stone Fox.
2) JCat Pout-holic Lipstick in Candy Man.
3) Coral colored anything
4) Nautical striped clothing
5) Fresh plums and asian pears, as my trees’ fruits have ripened. I’ll have apricots soon. The trees were here when we bought the house a couple years ago.
Pamela says
Funny, I just read the same article in Allure yesterday! I love that song and video! I used to lip synch to it and dance around my room just like Naomi. What? I was 16! I had visions of high fashion in my mind back then.
Pamela says
And you know…I don’t even remember the guy models being in the video. How bad is that?
Kellie says
1.) super long necklaces!
2.) Clinique B B Cream! I just rediscovered this and it feels so soothing on my broken out skin!
3.) Zoya nail polish in Genesis- a crisp summer white!
4.) sleeping….naps, sleeping until noon on Saturdays. Sleeeeeeep!
5.) Daiya chive and onion vegan cream cheese, so good on toast!
Diana says
Yay! Lime-flavored everything!
