1. Benefit Bathina Soft to Touch…Hard to Get ($34 for a 2.5 US fl. oz. bottle)
Ha! This body oil mist sounds like it was inspired by Tabs. 🙂
The name could be his official slogan, ba-dum dum!
Thank you, thank you! I’ll be performing again at 11.
Soft to Touch…Hard to Get is one of those lovely, girly bottles that looks right at home on a vanity. With sweet almond, olive and avocado oils, the lightweight formula lightly moisturizes while leaving skin with a slight sheen and a jasmine flower scent.
The bottle has some heft to it (feels like it’s made out of glass…or really heavy plastic), so when you spray it on damp skin after your shower or on your significant other/booty call as a massage oil, you’ll feel super fancy… Just don’t drop it on your foot.
Yes, I speak from experience.
2. Method Gel Hand Wash Orla Kiely Spring limited Edition in Tomato Vine ($4.49 for a 12 US fl. oz. bottle)
I’m so glad I picked up this bottle of Method Gel Hand Wash in Tomato Vine at Target a few weeks ago. The cute green bottle was just sitting there with a sale sticker next to it at the end of the toothpaste aisle.
I needed some hand wash, soooooo of course I unscrewed the cap and gave it a big sniff right there in the store. (Don’t front! I can’t be the only one who’s done that before.)
DUDE! It really does smell like tomato vines. I’ve got some on my deck right now.
The scent is a little weird at first…but I’m addicted to it now. It reminds me of when Demeter was doing cool, unusual scents like Thunderstorm (before they went completely off their rocker and started doing perfumes like Play-Doh and Crayon).
Anyway, I have to run back to Target today, and I’m hoping they’ll still have a few more of these limited edition scents by Orla Kiely (an Irish fashion designer) left, not only because I think this one smells great, but because it also gets my hands squeaky clean without sucking out every ounce of moisture.
If you don’t live near a Target, you can also find it online at methodhome.com.
3. Clé de Peau Beauté Extra Rich Lipstick Silk ($40)
Speaking of fancy, if a mysterious benefactor were to offer to fund a leisurely life of lunches and makeup, for the record, I would not say no.
If that were to happen, you’d find me at the Neiman Marcus Rotunda in San Francisco from Mondays through Fridays for tea around lunch, and then at the Clé de Peau Beauté counter downstairs playing with the smooth, silky and indulgent Extra Rich Lipstick Silks ($40) and Extra Rich Lipstick Holders ($25).
They’re like MAC Lustre Lipsticks for the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous sect, and they smell like green tea. YUM!
4. The Bamboos
I’m officially obsessed with The Bamboos.
No, not the plant, although I love that too. 🙂 They’re a soul/funk band from Australia. I heard one of their songs, The Wilhem Scream, at DSW last Friday, and that was all it took to get me hooked.
Here are some of their songs (I’ve been listening to these pretty much nonstop this week)…
5. Bold bib necklaces
Found this bold bib necklace by Pam Hiran last month on sale at Anthropologie, and it is by far the best piece of costume jewelry I’ve purchased this year.
It goes with everything! I’ve worn it with a plain white t-shirt and skinny jeans, an office-friendly gray dress by BCBG, a tank top and shorts, and inevitably, whenever I have it on, someone points it out and says something nice.
I’m convinced that as far as accessories go, big, bold necklaces are the way to go. Put one on and BAM! — you look like you tried.
Unfortunately, this particular piece is no longer available, but the Pearl Points necklace has a similar vibe. It’s marked down from $58 to $19.95. Seriously, if you don’t get I will, LOL!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Please do me a favor and give Tabs a kiss on his head. I can’t reach that far.

That lippie is gorgeous – I love the sound of green-tea scented lipsticks, though I usually want unscented or nothing – It’s something I’ll have to check out when I go to the fancy mall (there’s a Saks and Nieman Marcus there).
I just picked up a Method hand wash in cloudburst – smells so fresh and clean! Also not drying on my sensitive skin!

Clé de Peau has the most lovely lipstick bullet. Must buy one of these.

I grabbed the Method Chai flavor last fall and really liked it, too. There’s something about their packaging that makes it almost impossible not to buy at least one. 🙂

I’ve been loving the bath bombs from Moon’s Harvest. So many scents to choose from! And they are huge, moderately priced, moisturizing, and amazing. The bamboo green tea scent and the capri olivio scent are my current favorite scents. I don’t think there is anything that I have tried that I haven’t loved. I am also obsessed with everything that just went on sale on Urban Decay.

That hand soap sounds awesome. Wonder if Target will have any left over. I think we all have to have little creature comforts just to get through at times. There’s stuff I could live without, but there is also stuff that makes me feel amazing and that it would be hard to give up. I am currently loving Herbal Essences No Frizz conditioner with Mandarin Orange. It conditions really well and has that orange-y scent that I love. As for body lotion, I go between Victoria’s Secret in a lemon-y scent and Aqua Kiss (which to me smells like water or rain with exotic flowers), and the new Vaseline Spray N’ Go moisturizer. My other little creature comfort is Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss. It moisturizes really well and adds a tiny hint of neutral color. I love your list! Will definitely be looking for that hand soap.

Have you seen orla kiely’s bags? You’d love them. I smell that tomato vine soap every time I’m at target. I’ve been waiting for them to come out with the foaming variety. Since it’s on sale everywhere, tho, that must mean only a few nuts like us like it! Boo hoo!
