Wearing Tarte Gifts from the Lipstick Tree Achiote Color Collection from summer 2012
I’m currently in the throes of fuzzy pre-vacation brain, so I apologize in advance for eny tipos in this post and weird sentences that don’t make sense…
I did two things today instead of the really important things I needed to get done (like packing). 1) I dreaded the fact that I wasn’t doing the things I needed to get done, and 2) I thought about pie.
The Caramel Apple Pecan Pie at The Right Slice
Yes, that’s right: pie (not pi). 🙂 I was looking online for good eats on Kauai and found a highly recommended place called The Right Slice.
They sell pie. Just pie (and things like pie). In a wide variety of yummy-sounding flavors.
They have savory pies (Classic Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd’s Pie); spicy pies (Chocolate Chile, Spicy Apple), fruit pies (Guava, Lilikoi, Blueberry Piña Colada); and rich, and/or gooey pies (Carmel Apple Pecan, Haupia Purple Sweet Potato, Lilikoi Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut).
Thinking about all of that pie is giving me the sugar shakes!
I wonder if it’s possible to overdose on pie. My, my, my, gonna eat some pie…
LOL!
Sorry, I’m having a hard time concentrating today. I feel like it’s the last day of school before summer…and speaking of summer, have you seen the summer collection from Tarte?
They’re keeping it short and sweet with just six items this year, which is a drop in the bucket compared to their spring 2012 release.
I still see some pretty interesting things…
Primers seem to be playing a big role. There’s a new one for eyes and two new ones for the face — the Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer ($20), Clean Slate Flawless 12-HR Brightening Primer ($30) and Clean Slate Poreless 12-HR Perfecting Primer ($30).
There’s also a new Body Bronzer ($37), a new LipSurgence Lip Tint shade called Sprited ($24), and a $42 three-piece set with an awkwardly long name — the Gifts from the Lipstick Tree Achiote Color Collection.
Here are pics and swatches of everything, with the exception of the face primers…

I can’t wait to find out how the new Smoothing Eye Primer stacks up to my beloved NARS Pro Prime. 🙂
The entire collection is available online now at sephora.com and should be arriving in stores soon.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Well, that about does it for Tuesday. Aside from procrastinating and craving a slice of Haupia Purple Sweet Potato pie, I’m hangin’ in there.
How about you? What was the highlight of your day?
Sara says
I think that is the apple pie of my dreams….
I think tarte should come out with those cream eyeliners every season.
Karen says
Hi Sara,
Words can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to eat that pie. The apples. The caramel…mmm!
BTW, I did a Target walk through today and thought of you when I walked by the Gain, LOL!
Kellie says
MMM…love the sugar shakes! I have been known to get them from cupcakes…..
Karen says
Hi Kellie,
Oh, I’m guilty of cupcake shakes as well. Do you have a fave cupcake flavor? I like lemon. And red velvet. And banana…

Now I want pie, and most of this collection! Ahh I have no self-restraint when it comes to either! Tarte must have spiked their blushes with something. I own three, but I want way more! They don’t stay 12 hours on me, but they’re lovely anyways!
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Hmm PRIMER! Blush! Now I’m all curious! I do wish Tarte blushes stay a little longer on me, but the colors and texture are just so lovely I still want more!
Antonia at Swedish Love Affair says
Wow, that bronzer looks really unusual and clean in some way! I like the shade, it looks great on you!
Advah says
We have a pie shop here, although nothing quite as yummy-looking as that photo! It’s typically Scottish so sells all the usual macaroni pies and so on…
Hmm I’ve been thinking of checking out Tarte makeup for a while now (I’ve never seen in in the UK but hoping to see it in Sephora when I go to France next month). I’ve always thought their packaging to be too gimmicky, but I really appreciate the philosophy behind the brand. Oh, and the good reviews they’re getting 😛
Becca says
ooh, the Achiote Lipsurgence pencil looks so pretty–and Spirited looks like it’s going to be big. It’s the perfect summer color!
PS: thanks a lot, now my tummy is growling 🙁 lol

As beautiful and tempting this collection is, I think I’m more tempted by that Caramel Apple Pecan Pie 0_0

I just got the Lipstick Tree achiote set and it is a MUST BUY!!! Gorgeous colors, minimal shimmer (only a little in the lip products) and the shade itself is beautiful. This is a serious deal for the bucks and one of the best things I’ve purchased in quite awhile. Related (yet unrelated), the pic of that freaking pie is amazing, I can’t even imagine how divine it will tase. Have a wonderful trip to Hawaii and I always love your blog (and Tabs!!!)!
Elle says
Now I want pie. Did you ever see that movie Waitress with Keri Russell? I could watch that over and over again just for the pie scenes.
And your post title reminded me of this cheer my old English teacher used to do for us Mathletes when we’d go to competitions. “Secant, cosine, tangent, sine! 3.14159!”
Nina says
There is actually a place here in town called The House of Pies … yumm! 🙂
Anyways, I bought the Achiote tree collection … and the blush is gorgeous! So is the lip pencil. I havent used the gloss yet. 🙂
Kim says
I love Tarte, so I’m intrigued by this collection, especially the Poreless Primer. I know they’re prone to exaggerating, but I still feel the need to check their stuff out. 🙂
Enjoy your pie! Those sound like some awesome options for pie fans. It’s funny that Elle (above) mentioned Waitress. I actually could watch that over and over for Nathan Fillion, rather than the pies. hee hee! I’m actually feeling the urge to google some great carnivore places for El Hub on Kauai. Can’t wait to hear about your trip when you get back! 🙂
Cristy says
Achiote it’s a seasoning in a paste form that we use here in México to add flavor to the chicken & we serve it wirh yellow rice! Just to let you know…
Joyce says
That pecan pie looks tasty and I’m sure that the body bronzer can double up as a face bronzer as well. =)
Amanda says
I bought the Achiote kit on QVC for a few bucks less than it is on Tarte.com and Sephora.com. I love the colors and it’s a great value for 3 full size pieces. I’m glad you swatched the Spirited lip surgence too. I expected it to be more orange but it looks really nice.
Yelena says
gosh i love tarte! u look great!
Karen says
Thanks, Yelena!

I’ve never heard such a variety of pies- they all sound so great, my head is spinning, and my tummy is rumbling.
I like the achiote colors, they seem a bit tame. Achiote usually yields an incredibly intense hot coral color so I’m plesantly surpised at the ‘wearability’ here.
Edith says
I am so so so broke, Karen. Then I saw the Achiote collection and I’m determined to find SOME space in my budget to nab that before it’s gone!!!
I feel you on the pre-vacation buzz. I’m 3 weeks away from my semester and all I can think of is being free!!!
