This is me pretty much every morning. I wake up feeling more or less like a zombie. Then I have that first cup of coffee, and it’s like, WHOO-HOO! WOW!!!
And that’s with decaf, girl. Just imagine how I am with real coffee, LOL!
What kind of coffee do you like, and when do you like to have it? First thing in the morning when you get up, or do you like to wait until you get to the office? Or do you stop on the way at your favorite Starbucks or Peet’s or, hey, if you’re here in SF, your favorite Blue Bottle?
I like my coffee first thing because, let’s get real, I wake up a grouchy, grumpy goat.
I also like my coffee mild (my favorite is Kona), so not too bitter, and I drown it in 2% milk with just a teaspoon of sugar.
If you don’t come to life in the morning until you have your first cup, the Coffee First Tee is for you.
I instinctively reach for it now when I’m particularly crabby. Then I just quietly point to it if El Hub starts talking to me. I won’t say anything either. I just point to the cat on the front… It works though! 🙂
The fabric is a soft poly/cotton/rayon blend, and the oatmeal color goes with everything — dark blue jeans, light blue jeans, stretchy pants, leather pants…not that I have a pair of leather pants, but I bet it would go with them, too.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I always drink one cup of “full turbo’ coffee in the morning with milk. We buy whole beans usually from Whole Foods and grind what we need for the morning. I will have a small cup of decaf at work. Once in awhile, I may drink decaf in the evening if I am having a special dessert. In the old days (80’s -90’s) I used to drink at least 4 cups a day. I’ve cut my consumption down, mostly because of the acid.
The tee shirt is cute!

Four cups a day — WOW! You’re like my friend Cindy, who I swear has coffee running through her veins. She’s one of those people who can drink a full-on caffeinated cup right before bed and conk right out. I wish I could do that because coffee with dessert is the best. Especially when the dessert is chocolate. 🙂

I have this shirt. Love, love love it. It’s really soft, my go to when I’m running errand. It’s one of those shirts that draws people’s attention. Love it!
Karen says
Hey Cherie!
You just made me smile. 🙂

Definitely a coffee wimp but need full caffeine. We make the Dunkin Donuts regular at home and I use Sugar Free Hazelnut Coffeemate liberally. 🙂 Btw, we found our sweet kitty so all is well again in the world!!!
Karen says
Oh, I wish I read this comment first! I was reading them in chronological order and left another one for you about your kitty. I’m SO HAPPY that she’s home. When did she come back? Is she OK? Details please. Tabs is gonna be so happy!

Silly me, I bought this mug and I keep makeup brushes in it.
I like my coffee cold brewed. Occasionally I’ll warm up a cup, but for the most part I like it cold brewed or iced with milk in it. Lots of milk. As in, like a little coffee with your milk?
Blue Bottle and Stumptown are my favorite ready mades. Since they’re so expensive, I like to make my own cold brew from Café du Monde coffee and chicory ground beans. Usually I mix decaf grounds with regular to get the caffeine level somewhere in the middle.
Every once in a while I also like an espresso (decaf) after dinner when we go out to fancy places.
Karen says
I love that you keep your brushes in yours! I have my dirty brushes in the Lipstick Swatch-a-Thon mug right meow. 🙂
By the way I’m the same way about milk in my coffee. Actually it’s funny that you mention this because I just made an afternoon cup which I NEVER do. I’m living on the edge today! Anyway, about half of the mug is milk, LOL!
I have to give you props for being able to drink Blue Bottle, because the one time I had it (and I had a cup of decaf, I’m pretty sure), I swear to god I was up ALL NIGHT LONG. That stuff does not mess around.
Bummer that your trip got more expensive overnight, BOOOO! Is everything booked and ready to go though?
Tatiana says
Blue Bottle is a rare treat. Yes, it’s rocket fuel for those days when you need an extra boost.
Airfare paid for, hotel booked. Just certain events caused the dollar (and all my stocks) to fall. Doubt it will recover by the time of our trip. Darn and I was enjoying the good exchange rate with the pound and ordering lots of stuff from Selfridges. Ah well, all good things must come to an end.
Karen says
I haven’t had Blue Bottle since that fateful day. Maybe we’ll meet again if/when I ever go out on a Friday or Saturday night, LOL! That’s what it takes now… a long disco nap and really strong coffee. Otherwise I’d fall asleep on my feet at 10. And to think that’s when I used to leave the house to go out on a weekend!
Please tell me you’ll have a macaron or two when you’re in Paris. What neighborhood will you gals be staying in?
Rachel says
I miss Peet’s from when I lived in Cali, it’s strong but never bitter, so I buy the k-cups. I also have pumpkin spice k-cups right now, and Target had their pumpkin spice creamer half off last weekend so I stocked up!
Karen says
There’s a Peet’s in my town less than five minutes away! I haven’t been there in years (alas, I’m a coffee wimp… I like mine very weak).
I’ll have to look out for that pumpkin spice creamer; thanks for the heads up. 🙂 Our Target has a huge grocery section so I hope I’ll be able to find it. Does your store carry produce, frozen foods, meats, etc. too?
Rachel says
Yes we are lucky to have a “SuperTarget” which has a whole grocery store! They are common in the Midwest since Target is based in Minneapolis, but they are not so common everywhere else!
Karen says
Honestly I could spend hours in Target. I’ve tried getting in and out in 20 minutes but the it never works. I’m always there for at least 45 minutes, LOL! The grocery section comes in so handy, doesn’t it? I always get the stuff that I can’t get at Trader Joe’s there, like bread (for some reason the bread at TJ’s goes stale very fast), certain pantry items and drinks like La Croix Mineral Water. Have you ever tried their Archer Farms Thin Pizza Crust? I get it all the time to make homemade pizzas at home and it’s really good.
Rachel says
No I will have to try the pizza crusts! Target is one of those places you have to spend at least an hour and at least $100, no matter how hard you try! I would say a good chunk of my bill is Sheba cat food though, lol!

As soon as I’m out of maternity clothes I’ll be ordering this t-shirt! I don’t drink strong coffee, but I need my cup of instant in the morning to make me human lol.

You look stunning in that lip color! What else is new?! ? I used to drink coffee all day and all night. Totally addicted to it to stay awake for day shifts that turned into night shifts. A doctor told me to have a diet coke instead. Worst advice to give anyone, but I did it. Now I have a diet coke in the morning (gross I know!), and black coffee or a flat white (coffee with steamed milk) around 3 or 4pm. This is why I have insomnia, and insomnia is why I drink caffeine! Wonder which came first? ?
Kiss & Make-up says
I need one that says “chocolate first” 😉
