I’d really appreciate it if we could just get all of the cheesy wedding puns out of the way now before we discuss the new Here Comes the Bobbi Brown Bride Luxe Collection; otherwise, they’ll distract me every minute of the way (like cat fur on my clothes).
So…
Hey! These new limited-edition Luxe pieces are walking down the aisle now at Nordstrom stores and online (ba-dum-bum!).
Ooh! With her new collection, Ms. Brown is lifting the veil (tee-hee!) on her new eye shadow palette, a travel brush set, a 6-pan palette and highlighter.
Wow! What do I have to say about the new Bobbi Brown Bride Luxe Collection? Two words: I do.
Ah… Much better. 🙂 Now I can concentrate on the collection itself, which I checked out the other day at Nordie’s.
First thing I thought of when I saw it? Cake.
Mmm… Cake.
After swatching the collection, I have a feeling that the $60 Luxe Eye Palette would probably work best on brides-to-be with light and medium skin tones, so if you’re around my shade or darker (MAC NC 42/Bobbi Brown Honey), the colors may all look alike, or nearly so — all similarly sparkly and sheer.
I’m a little surprised that Bobbi didn’t include more mattes in the launch based on what I’ve come to expect from the bridal mags I flip through at Barnes (I’m all about the dresses, ma!).
Mattes do tend to photograph well…
But I’m not one to turn down glitter or shimmer, so haaay! — although I’m thinking that this would probably be a better gift to give a bride-to-be before the actual ceremony, like at a bridal shower, rather than something to wear on the big day, on account of the shimmer.
Or, as a nice gift for your maid of honor.
Which reminds me, after having been on veil duty before (for Jen’s wedding), fighting back tears of joy while trying not to fall in front of a church filled with people as I wrangled a massive train in four-inch heels and a sleeveless dress, I now fancy myself as an unofficial expert on these matters.
Yeah, that was not an easy task…
This palette would be an elegant way to say, “Thank ya, boo, for everything. We’ll always be ride or die.”
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Plum. Tuckered. Out.
That’s what I am. I’m about to pass out…but then there’s Scandal. I want to watch another episode on Netflix.
Dilemas, right? 🙂
Hope you had a good day today. Are you looking forward to Friday as much as I am?
Agata says
The eyeshadows do look pretty much the same. I was curious about this sparkly powder though…It looks so pretty.
Karen says
You could totally pull that sparkly powder off. On me it just looks like plain ol’ glitter, LOL!
Lauren says
I agree with you, when I think wedding collection I think of what’s going to photograph the best, and be long wearing.
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
Yah, I think this might be more for wedding gifting. It’s cute for a gift.
Kim says
They are definitely pretty, wearable, neutral colors but I agree that they all look a bit similar. I’m guessing that was your cake in the top pic? The Hawaiian toppers are super-cute. 🙂
Karen says
Yes! Good eye, girlfriend! Someone stuck them on at the last minute because the pastry chef forgot to put them on the top, haha. I remember being worked up about it at the time. What kind of cake did you guys have? We had chocolate.
Kim says
It’s funny because I was like “oh, Karen had chocolate cake” when I saw your flashback pic. 🙂
Our wedding cake was white with almond frosting and the groom’s cake was chocolate with chocolate frosting. This is terrible but I honestly can’t remember why we had a groom’s cake. Maybe in case people didn’t dig the almond frosting (but, honestly, how could you not?). 🙂
Karen says
Yeah, we had TWO chocolate cakes for some reason too. All El Hub’s idea. He was pretty laid back about the whole thing, but it was a big deal for the desserts to be chocolate. Men and their priorities!
Danielle says
This looks okay. A bit shimmery for most brides, especially more mature women.
Karen says
Yup! I agree.
Sarah says
These look so beautiful.
I personally prefer shimmery eyeshadows for bridal looks, not too shimmery though. Just a hint of shimmer.
Sarah
Karen says
Hint of shimmer’s always good.
Tennyoceres says
This palette looks more appropriate for an outdoor wedding. Also all of the lighter colors look the same. But the travel brush set? Bobbi GUUUURRRRRRRRRLLLL you do yo thang! *3 snaps in a circle* I might stuff more eyeshadow brushes in the package. There seems to be enough room.
Karen says
Hi Tennyoceres,
Ha! I like Bobbi’s travel brushes too. They’re soft and don’t tend to splay.
Happy Friday!
Jennifer says
I saw this in Nordstrom and almost died! I LOVE IT!!!!
Karen says
Do you think you might pick any of the pieces up, Jennifer?
Chelsea says
I think we finally picked a date, but I need to get around to more planning.
We’re going to do Vegas!
Dana says
Hi Karen! Thank you for this, I LOVE Bobbi Brown… so tell me… 2 of them are matte and the others are shimmery? Because I’m more of a “matte” kinda girl you know?. Thanx! 🙂 xoxo
Karen says
Hi Dana,
Cream on the far left and Espresso on the far right in the swatches are mattes, I think. The rest are shimmers. 🙂

HA!! Loved: “Thank ya, boo, for everything. We’ll always be ride or die.” I’ve been failing to update my RSS reader and have been missing your hilarity this week! I’ve finally gotten my act together and updated the reader (yay) so now I’m getting a Karen bomb of awesomeness all at once! Loved the post-wedding cake pic!
The shadows remind me of a 6-pan Sonia Kashuk palette I bought recently, and sadly, the color payoff on my NW 20 (AKA Elmer’s Glue-ish) skin was the same as this one was on yours: eh. I’m totally with you on the mattes for the wedding day b/c they just photograph beautifully. I’m getting married next April (4/26/14, but who’s keeping track?) and I’m going to bro down with mattes in a serious fashion.
PS: I love Scandal too! SO GOOD. And Kerry Washington’s wardrobe on the show is tops on my to-raid wish list!
