You can pretty much get the gist of this Chanel palette’s raison d’être from its name, Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette.
To put it another way, is this the type of glow that refers to the women of GLOW, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling? Meaning, would you see a bunch of lady wrestlers in the ’80s wearing this in the ring for a performance? Nope! Absolutely not. These beige, brown and black shadows create a much more natural look, with a lot less wrestling.
I totally get that this is so not exciting for some makeup lovers, but I love this kind of makeup. And I know I’m not the only one! I went to high tea at the Fairmont in SF last weekend with some girlfriends, and, not just one of them, but two of them pulled me aside separately and said, in so many words, “I need to know what’s on your eyes, and I need for you to teach me how to do that ASAP.”
Les Beiges Healthy Glow is a beautiful palette for natural, elegant makeup that’s “there-but-not-too-there.” For me, it’s the definition of clean beauty, which is a look you see a lot in bridal magazines here in the U.S., where there’s soft definition on the lids and lash lines, and you can tell there’s makeup in the mix, but it still looks natural and not O.T.T. Les Beiges is great for that.
I do have to say, though, that I’m surprised by the amount of fallout I’m seeing with this palette. First time I used it, I was so excited that I forgot to tap off my brush, and I ended up with more shadow than I expected on my cheekbones.
If you’re a Chanel enthusiast (like I am), it’s bearable, as long as you tap off your brush, but the palette is $65… Just something to think about.
Other than the fallout, I think the shadows work great. They mesh and blend together well, and they’re perfect shades for natural looks. They also last all day long for me.
You gotta try it with grayish black Chanel Stylo Yeux 912 Ardoise pencil eyeliner if you get a chance. 912’s dainty off-black color really complements the palette’s soft neutrals.
I like to quickly sweep either the brown or taupe shade on my lids before lining my water lines and upper lash lines with 912. Then I pack an angled eye brush with the black shade in Les Beiges, and smudge it on top to soften the upper lash line.
Load lashes with mascara. Done!
If you wanna check it out, the palette is limited edition and available meow at Chanel counters and online.

You did get the palette! 😀
What I love to do with it is add bronzer if I wanna give it a warmer glow. The other thing I personally love about it, is that I can use the matte light shade to blend / fade away colors… That works for me, with quite light skin. Overall, I think it’s a great palette to have!
Now, about the fallout… Hmm. I haven’t used it super recently, but can’t remember that being an issue for me? I’ll have to use it again and remind myself. Otherwise, I do agree… For that price it should be pretty much perfect :-/
Well… I hope you really enjoy playing with it!

Hi Lex,
Good idea to add bronzer into the mix! I’ll try that next time I wear it.
I’m dying to give the new Les Beiges gel cushion a spin!
Lex says
Great! And ah, I’ve never tried that one myself, but I did see it being applied on a girl in a store, and she did look very good by the end of it! Did you ever try it at the counter so far?

It’s nice, but not $65 nice.

I think it depends on how much use one could get out of it. Me, I could easily wear this every day!

noooooooo don’t talk about this beauty!
Seriously. I went and purchased Tisse Rivoli but was on the fence between that and this.
I might need this now.
Can you tell me what the commonality is between the “Les Beiges” products? Is it a certain formula or a specific color family? I know the packaging is different.
Karen says
Hi Emily,
Ahh, Tisse Rivoli is one of my faves! Great choice!
So, I think the whole Les Beiges thing is Chanel’s line of effortless-looking makeup. I think it refers to the color family of nudes/neutrals.

Ah that’s good to know. Thanks so much! I’ve been dabbling in Chanel lately – I just wore Adrienne on my wedding day! I also just went through a few samples of vita lumiere aqua and velvet to compare. Everything just seems like it “works” without much hassle – that’s also why I love Hourglass!

Beautiful, as always. 🙂 What’s your lipstick? I never have to shop anymore. All my makeup selections are based on your recommendations. THANK YOU.

Much as I love the cushion and the blushes that came out at the same time, I wasn’t into the palette. It looks great on you though, I love the natural effect.

I saw this at Nordstrom today and it’s smaller than I was expecting it to be. Don’t know why I thought it would be bigger. The colors are nice, but I feel like it’s too similar to the new singles that Chanel just released.

I love everything I see from Chanel but don’t need any eye shadow palettes so I’m very grateful that’s what you chose to review. HAHA! Nice job holding your arm up in that non-awkward way, btw. 🙂 And I know you always think your hands look weird but they totally don’t. I’m sure I’ve said that before. Even when you point it out, I still think they look perfectly normal. Just wanted to throw that out there.
