I swear, my last trip to Sephora was Connor’s idea. If she looks a little crabby in this picture, it’s because she’s practicing her #RBF (resting baby face).

I went to grab a couple things I’ve been wanting to try from my lust list, and speaking of that, that list has been exercising my wallet in ways I did not anticipate, LOL!

First, there’s this clarifying Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo.

I had a a lot of product buildup in my hair after using a Klorane shampoo and mask, and Sunday Shampoo, which I used on Saturday (such a rebel!), got my hair feeling normal again. Buuuuuut, I still think I’m going to return it, because I read on the Sephora website (and don’t ask my why this didn’t sink in beforehand) that it isn’t recommended for color-treated hair, which I have.

Oh, well… It was fun while it lasted.

I do like the idea using a clarifying shampoo every so often to remove buildup from dry shampoo and other hair products, so I’m thinking about exchanging it for a shampoo by Briogio, a natural hair care line at Sephora, called Be Gentle, Be Kind Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo.

#FragranceFriday: Scents From Urban Decay, Malin + Goetz and Kiss by Rihanna http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/fragrance/urban-decay-malin-goetz-kiss-by-rihanna/ http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/fragrance/urban-decay-malin-goetz-kiss-by-rihanna/#comments Fri, 12 May 2017 20:53:36 +0000 http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/?p=212872 #FragranceFriday: Scents From Urban Decay, Malin + Goetz and Kiss by Rihanna

Let’s not even go there about how hard it is to *not* look like your hands are actually T. rex claws in pics.

(It’s hard.)

Tried a few different fragrances this week, two of which are new, and all of which are new to me. Two of them really took me back. Like, waaay back…

Urban Decay Go Naked Perfume Oil ($24 for 0.16 oz)

I had this on my wrists for about two hours before I was able to place where I’d smelled something similar before, but first, a UD fragrance?! I know! They’ve been chock full of surprises these days.

Go Naked is their new perfume oil, and it’s limited-edition and $24. It arrives June 3rd at Sephora and sephora.com (for VIB Rouge members only), then June 7th to the Urban Decay website, June 30th at Urban Decay free-standing stores and July 13th at Sephora and sephora.com.

It’s definitely a long-lasting fragrance. I put it on early Wednesday morning and caught a whiff while I was blotting away a waterfall of sweat in HIIT class that night. So that’s like 12 hours.

Man, the scent takes me back too!

#FragranceFriday: CLEAN Reserve and Atelier Cologne http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/fragrance/fragrancefriday-clean-reserve-atelier-cologne/ http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/fragrance/fragrancefriday-clean-reserve-atelier-cologne/#comments Fri, 05 May 2017 21:00:16 +0000 http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/?p=212646 #FragranceFriday: CLEAN Reserve and Atelier Cologne

This is probably going to sound weird, but because we’re friends, I’m just going to say it… I’m getting set in my ways, you know? I’m not as adventurous as I used to be, and it’s kinda scaring me a little.

I mean, I think it’s a natural part of getting older, and a lot has happened over the past few years. I turned 40, got pregnant (and that took a while), had the baby, got thrown into motherhood, and maybe all of that weakened my adventurous resolve. Now I get intimidated by big changes more often.

On a trivial level, I really haven’t changed my hair in years…whereas before that, I would seriously, like, change it every five seconds! I was always growing it out, chopping it off or coloring it, but I haven’t done much with it in a long time.

I think it’s a reflection of where I’m at in life… I haven’t been able to handle too many little changes on top of the big ones.

But I think it’s getting better… I’m starting to want to try new things again.

I’m taking baby steps, though, like with perfume.

The New MAC Shadescents, $57 Each, Coming Soon to MAC Counters http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/mac-makeup/mac-shadescents/ http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/mac-makeup/mac-shadescents/#comments Tue, 29 Nov 2016 00:22:27 +0000 http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/?p=205650 The New MAC Shadescents, $57 Each, Coming Soon to MAC Counters

If I told you that MAC was releasing a collection of fragrances inspired by some of their most iconic lipsticks (they are), and then told you that they were also re-releasing the lipsticks with colorful matching caps, would you almost immediately wonder, “Ooh! Will the lipsticks be scented too?”

Because that’s what I wondered about the lipsticks that accompany the new MAC Shadescents fragrance collection. I was curious, so I checked, and they aren’t (oh, you know, just sitting here smelling a whole bunch of lipsticks!). I mean, they do have that good ol’ MAC vanilla fragrance.

The six-scent Shadescents collection is coming soon to MAC counters with six $57 eau de parfums inspired by some of MAC’s most iconic lipsticks, each of which are also getting special matching packaging.

The same exact lipsticks are also available in the MAC permanent collection now, but these are just extra fancy. The perfumes will be permanent, but the special edition lipsticks are LE.

The MAC Shadescents

(six scents, $57 each, coming to the MAC website and macy’s.com November 30 and stores December 8)

    Ruby Woo — woody floral
Candy Yum-Yum — fruity floral gourmand
    Lady Danger — woody floriental
    My Heroine — woody leather
    Creme d’Nude — amber musk
    Velvet Teddy — wild honey

If you’re an old-school MAC-aholic, you might remember that MAC had a line of perfumes way back when, but they discontinued all of them except Turquatic.

Smell This ASAP: New McQueen Eau De Parfum http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/product-reviews/mcqueen-eau-de-parfum/ http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/product-reviews/mcqueen-eau-de-parfum/#comments Tue, 27 Sep 2016 16:09:47 +0000 http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/?p=203471 Smell This ASAP: New McQueen Eau De Parfum

The whole idea of fragrance commercials on TV is totally weird.

Isn’t it?

Companies desperately trying to get us interested in a scent through a medium where we can’t actually smell the perfume. There we are just eating our morning oatmeal while a supermodel rolls around on a beach for 30 seconds whispering about “Seduction happens on the sand…”

I guess it’s supposed to be metaphorical, you know, to capture the essence of what it feels like to wear the scent, and maybe then we’ll stop by the fragrance counter on our next trip to a department store, but I dunno…

It’s kind of like what’s happening with this blog post right now. 🙂

I suppose that I could just list the fragrance notes in this $115 bottle of McQueen Eau de Parfum, the pricey new fragrance by fancy fashion house Alexander McQueen (night-blooming flowers, sambac jasmine, tuberose and ylang ylang).

That would probably be more useful than these pictures…

And I could talk about how I think it’s feminine but not frilly, how it lasts a long time when I spritz it (a full eight hours), and how I can really detect the floral notes, but they aren’t too heavy or headache-inducing.
