Normally, I would have no business wearing a purple highlighter. I’ll leave that to the club kids who wanna channel their inner unicorn, because lilac highlights are kind of unicorn makeup, right?
Not as hardcore unicorn as rainbow stripe highlights on your cheeks, but still…majorly unicorn-y.
But BECCA Lilac Geode Shimmering Skin Perfector surprised me.
OK, first of all, and I’ll be the first person to admit this, but this swatch is totally lame.
This is one of those products that looks SO much better in person, which is why you’ve gotta check it out next time you’re at a BECCA counter. Swatch that ish, girl, then head for the nearest window in the store, or, if you can, walk outside, and move your arm around in the light and let the sun bounce off your skin. At the right angles, subtle flashes of lavender will dazzle Lilac Geode’s warm pink.
It’s like those eyeshadows that have an iridescent flash, except super toned down.
I love it. It’s fun and different, and now that I think about it, you can probably also use this as a lid color. I’ve done it before with BECCA highlighters. Just pat them on your lids with a finger, sweep a little bronzer or your favorite brown shadow in the crease, curl your lashes, and boom-boom-boom — done.
Lilac Geode is $38 and limited edition, and it’s at BECCA counters and online now.

It really doesn´t look lilac at all in pan or swatch, but I´ll take your word for it and swatch it next time I stop by Sephora.

Hi LindaLibraLoca,
I mention that a few times in the review. 🙂 The lilac is a subtle flash.

Becca always has the most beautiful skin products. Lilac seems like a neat, universal highlighter color. A little warm with the pink, a little cool with the blue. 🙂 How are things in your area with the fires? Are you still on alert? Stay safe!!

Hi Kim,
Thanks for checking in about the fires. Yesterday the air was pretty bad until the late afternoon (at least the ash stopped falling). We’re OK so far. The fire that was burning closest to our place is out, thank goodness, but the other fires in Napa still haven’t been contained. Last night El Hub and I talked about what we’d have to grab in case those fires keep moving south and we have to evacuate. Unfortunately where we live right now is pretty dangerous in terms of fire; our place is surrounded by dry grass, falling leaves and tons of trees. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

I know you don’t want to think about the unthinkable, but maybe pack up the essentials and important papers and put them some place you can grab them quickly, now while you have time. It’s kinda like an umbrella in NYC, if you’re carrying one it usually doesn’t rain. But forget your umbrella and there’s a downpour when you get out of the subway. When all the fires are out you can put everything back away and say, “Phew, thank goodness we didn’t need this.” That fire at Lakeville and 37 is just way too close.

I’ll have to swatch this in person!

Hi Karen,
I have been following your blog for quite some time now, but never really posted a comment. I swatched this highlighter and you are right it had this amazing glow. Thanks for the recommend. Happy with the purchase.
