So you want to get your groove on and you positively must wear those three-inch heels – but you know that in the wee hours your feet will be paying dearly for putting fashion over function. (Blisters, anyone?)
Makeup and Beauty Blog feels your pain.
After having one too many nights of wearing hella cute but painful footwear, I’ve found that there is a method to keep my feet blister-free so that I can dance all night long. The best part? I don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve happy feet!
It sounds weird, but if I’m going to rock my high heels I prep my feet before going out. I figure it’s just like any part of getting ready for the night, except the words “moleskin†and “arch inserts†aren’t as sexy as “Chanel No. 5†and “MAC Nymphette Lipglass.â€
Here are three essentials things for $11.00 or less that I use to keep my high heels comfy for a night out dancing.
I stick these squishy pads onto the inner front part of my shoes to get a cushioned layer of extra padding in the ball-of-the-foot area. I love these things more than frozen waffles. They prevent calluses from forming, and protect bone and tissue, too. They’re cute too, with many colors and designs to choose from. Just pop a pair into your heels and dance all night long, $6.95.
Walgreen’s Moleskin Plus
Ohhh, my precious. If the powers-that-be ever decided to discontinue Walgreen’s Moleskin then I’d buy 12689082098496790790890823940 backups, store them all in a fireproof safe and covet, covet, covet. Made from soft cotton flannel, these self-adhesive sheets protect sensitive, sore areas from rubbing. I cut them to the size and then place squares of Moleskin around my toes, on the sides of my feet, on my heel – wherever the shoe rubs my skin. Other brands make Moleskin, but Walgreen’s is the stickiest and longest lasting. $2.99 for a pack of 3 sheets.
There’s one catch for you single folks out there: if you’re going clubbing and then plan on doing a sleep over at your boyfriends/girlfriend/bootycall’s house, plan on bringing extra squares in your purse. Moleskin is fantastic but having little squares strategically placed all over your feet DOES NOT make them look cute. And after a night of dancing, the Moleskin starts to looking kinda ragged. You’ll want to remove the old ones and put on new ones in the morning.
Last but not least, the geriatric sounding:
All those years of distance running have taken their toll. I use Dr. Scholl’s arch inserts to keep my arches intact while I’m on the dance floor. $10.99 for a pair.
Now get you’re ready to get your crip walk on, girl!
The hubby and I usually go the gym on Tuesday nights, but last night we decided to ditch lifting weights for a movie date. We watched “28 Weeks Later.†If you want a nice, happy, sentimental movie then skip this film! It’s really unsettling. I gorged myself on popcorn and Raisinettes because I could barely handle what was happening on screen. And when I got home I was still disturbed by it, so I had to watch youtube videos of bunnies in order to chill out.
Anyway, wherever you are I hope that you’re having a good week so far!
